sibling of a child of the dome
My name is Tiny Warner, and I am a sibling to one of the children of the dome. Shelby Warner was, well, will always be my baby brother and Rosemary did an excellent job with this book. She has helped so many people who are dealing with the loss of a child, when they feel that they have no where else to go. It helps so much to read of others who have gone through an ordeal like this. I know Rosemary personally and there is no finer person than her, she is a woman with a heart of gold. I know what strength and courage it must have taken for her to share the pain of losing her sons, but she did it with such grace and I take my hat off to her for the wonderful job that she did, not only with my brother's story, but with all the stories of the "CHILDREN OF THE DOME." God Bless You Rosemary Smith.

children of the dome
This is really wonderful that people are willing to share their grief with others. I know one of the mothers who shared her story. I know how torn apart her life was due to the lost of her son.I have read her words many times in our local paper. I know nothing will ever take away her pain but hope this woman and many like her have helped many others and for that I am sure alot of people will say Thanks for your time and stories.

Children of The Dome
As a father of two children, I cannot imagine the total devastation of losing a child. Rosemary Smith has compiled a group of unbelievable stories of courage! Reading about these families and how they have turned their incredible loses into stories of triumph and inspiration was a truly uplifting experience. This is a must-read for anyone who has expereinced or knows someone who has experienced the loss of a child.

A Writer's Dozen: Thirteen Stories for Children

Wonderful children stories- even for adults!
Being a former kindergarten student of Mrs. Barse, I enjoyed this book a great deal. I would recommend this book to teachers and parents for their children/students.

A "Must-Have" for teachers everywhere
After reading her biography, you can tell that Ms. Barse puts a lot of thought and emotion into her writings. The short stories are perfect for oral reading. Most of the stories have an appropriate message that relates to concepts the children would understand. I will be using this in my classroom for many years to come.

The pictures are very cute and match the stories very well.

This is also a great gift for teachers.

Paragraph Writing Made Easy
This is a wonderful tool for helping my middle school children to learn to take notes in preparation for writing a report. It has wonderful examples throughout, all of which captivate the interest of my children as they are learning good writing and organizational skills. This is a clearly written book, which I would highly recommend to other parents and, of course, to teachers.

Chinese Garden

Interesting but Slow
Rachel is a young girl residing at Bampfield, a boarding school that regards its students as masculine and embraces independence. Here Rachel hates the Bampfield regime, but finds pleasure in garden not far from the school grounds. Its Oriental theme and beauty captivate her. This is her refuge away from her academia life.

At Bampfield, Rachel is surrounded by friends: the almost-impossible Margaret the needy Bisto. Margaret is the 'rebel' who introduces her to the garden and tells her about a new book, 'The Well of Loneliness,' which is creating quite a stir because of its 'racy' theme.

I won't give away much more, but naive Rachel comes of age in this novel. She learns about the true nature of people, especially when a controversy arises within the book. I enjoyed the language of 'The Chinese Garden' although the real meat of the story comes at the far end. I was waiting patiently throughout the book -- it was definitely worth the wait.

Forbidden fruit
Manning's nearly forgotten novel is among those set in girls' boarding schools. Rachel is a bright student who befriends one of the school's rebels, Margaret. They are surrounded by teachers who dress as men and act with stoney authority. Margaret brings a copy of "The Well of Loneliness" into the school, and eventually gets caught with another girl, thereby implicating Rachel in her activities. Rachel is faced with the hypocrisy of the school's staff and with her own growing sensuality, and ultimately must betray her friend or suffer her fate. What I found most remarkable about the story was Manning's use of complex metaphors paralleling the story of Adam & Eve's ingestion of knowledge. It may be a dated story, but there's still much in which to delight.
