No brouhaha over Curtis
After seeing a re-broadcast of Marilyn Greenwald on CNN and having just read yet another review (NY Times and Dallas paper), there is no brouhaha over this one --this is a fine work.

Move over Doris K. Goodwin, there's a new biographer in town
Ms. Greenwald's insightful biography of the fascinating woman who was both a shaper and observer of the women's movement is fascinating reading. Highly informative and entertaining this book is a real page turner.

The authors writing style is captivating and I look forward to her next endeavor.

excellent
Insightful and well written. I really enjoyed sharing the life of this remarkable woman.

Stephanie Plum, look out! You have competition here!
This series is hilarious. Stephanie Plum has her family to help keep the laughs coming. Grace Smith has only herself. She doesn't need anyone else. This series will keep you laughing. You'll love Grace, trust me.

Fun mystery from Britain.
I loved the laughs from the situations and the British jargon.
Grace Smith is an ex-policewoman who is sassy and crass, but
has a bit of a conscience. The plot is interesting, although
the story does drag a little in the middle. Over all Liz Evans
does a great job. How can you not like a story that starts with
the main character accidentally knocking out her future client
with a cow bone while trying to catch a lost dog. He then hires
her to find out if he ever murdered someone in a past life.
When you need a break from the serious British writers try this
series. Its fun!!

Ten star book
This is a rarity of a book since it doesn't spend a lot of time telling you stuff you don't need to know, but is what it says. A book about the various means of composting whether you live in an apartment or have an acre for an organic vegetable or flower garden.

The illustrations are helpful and easy to follow. And if you think you cant compost or that it will just be to hard, this book will change your mind. It is also an important book in my opinion, because Americans throw away so much useful compost material or grind it down the kitchen garbage disposal. By composting your kitchen and garden wastes you not only produce rich soil but you build up the entire eco system. And with garbage dumps becoming full and new ones harder to find I think that composting of kitchen and garden wastes should be a law.

Insighful book with unique recipes
This is a wonderful book on cooking with flowers. The over 200 recipes included are both delicious & nutritious. Most are also quick & easy to make. The book starts out with tips on selecting & gathering the flowers. Then a good French dressing that doesn't cover up the flavor of the flowers is given. Instructions for how to candy all types of flowers is given next. Recipes are arranged by flower. The number of recipes for each varies greatly. I love how the author took the time to include a brief history of each flower as well as information on its flavor & general preparation. Some of my favorite recipes are the carnation crepes, day-lily tempura, & dynasty eggs on toast made with chrysanthemums. I also enjoyed the violet studded snowballs, they made a great conversation piece.

British myster with strong female lead character...
Don't mess... is a fast paced novel with a wealth of interesting characters. At times the plot stretches credibility, but still in an enjoyable fashion. The author does a nice job of introducing enough characters to keep this relatively lengthy novel interesting (400+ pages), and does so in a way that it is still easy for the reader track.

The novel is modern-British in tone and nature, but still very accessible. Although not great literature, the book holds your attention throughout.

British Kinsey
I picked up this book because of the comparisons of the heroine to Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum. Instead, I found that Grace Smith could be the British counterpart to Sue Grafton's character, Kinsey Milhone. The book is entertaining and well written, but left me wondering about the heroine's lifestyle. I suppose if Evan decides to write 24 more books in the series like Grafton has committed to, we'll find out more about the reasons for Smith's eccentric lifestyle.

Marilyn Monroe ..The Donkey ! That is........
I'll admit, I saw this book in the bookstore several times and was put off by the title, Who Killed Marilyn Monroe, frankly who cares..Then the other day I was checking to see if the new Evanovich was in and actually picked the book up and read the jacket. This is when I discovered that the Marilyn in this book is actually a donkey,in my opinion any book with a male donkey called Marilyn Monroe, multiple murders and mayhem is worth a read.

This is the first book in the series featuring PI Grace Smith, Grace is tall, blonde and perpetually broke, she has as many problems and hangups as the rest of us and is very easy to identify with. The one-liners scattered through the text are brilliant, the dialogue is well written and fast paced with frequent oportunities for a laugh. I will definitely be buying the next three books to see what else Grace manages to get herself into.
