This Book is a Masterpiece!
I was totally blown away by this book! Judy Piani and Hedy Bookin-Weiner have written a masterpiece on human relations. As a voracious reader of self-help books and books on effective communication skills (and many of those books are excellent!) I have just read the one that is probably the most practical of all in terms of actually understanding why people act the way they do . . . and how to work with this newly-found knowledge for mutual benefit.

The authors, using the Piani Trait System, teach that traits, in and of themselves, are neither positive or negative, although depending upon the person and situation, they can have positive or negative results. The biggest challenge for most of us is that we don't understand that a person whose traits are different from ours (in other words, a person who does things differently than we do) is not intending to annoy or upset us. And since, as the book explains, "Normal is what I am", we're never aware of the actual cause of the bad feelings in the first place.

Although somewhat geared toward a business/workplace setting, there are plenty of examples from personal life as well. In fact, my personal feeling is that every husband, wife, son, daughter, friend, employer and employee shoud read this book. If you are one or more of the above, buy this book, and devour it! -- I believe you'll find some tools that will make a very, very positive addition to your life

Putting my ego in check.......
I'm facinated with the trait system and keep re-reading parts of the book so I can have it sink in and integrated it into my thinking."Normal is what I am" is so freeing. This concept relieves us from the pressure we put on ourselves and others. When I think in terms of the trait system I seem to take my ego out of the picture, become less burdened and more effective. The evolving understanding is life-giving versus life stifling. As a psychotherapist I relish in understanding human behavior.I find that the objectivity of the trait system has a universal application and appeal. The book is a good read, well organized and well illustrated. I look forward to its sequel.

Trait Secrets: Winning Together When You DON'T Think Alike
I enjoyed reading this book, or should I say, "I enjoyed experiencing this book". I am surprised how quickly I was pulled into this nifty and practical tool. I loved the quick tests of self evaluation and they showed me what was happening around me with my work peers. I've been struggling for a year not knowing how to get through a tough situation at work, and then bang - this little book showed me what has been happening, and gave me several options on how to get through it successfully without quiting. What a relief, finally some assistance. It makes so much common sense when I think about it now! I passed the book onto a colleague, I hope it will help him! He needs it! :-)

An Excellent Introduction.
The cover alone is worth the price! Each stone in this photograph of 46 specimens of turquoise is identified at the start of the book. High quality natural stones from the most important mines of the Southwest are pictured side by side with treated and plastic versions.

The book is a collection of 10 articles written for New Mexico Magazine. Titles include "Turquoise and the Native American", "Buyer Beware: Hidden Facets of Turquoise", Young Native Jewelers Signal Change of Guard" and "The Plight of Old Pawn". High quality photographs of famous mines, artisans and jewelry, both historic and current, will whet the appetite of would-be collectors but also leave an impression of love and respect for the land and its native inhabitants.

Read this book under a strong light to catch the full depth of color!

A Strange and Profound Gnosis
Excellent book! This is some of the best poetry you'll find anywhere, and its publication is a reason to rejoice! CAS excelled at a very dark and beautiful poetry and some of his best pieces are in here. It has some unreprinted material, as well as some poems that have seen very little light in the past. Great production values and three nice, full color paintings. I highly reommend it!

Encounter all Kahn's master pieces.
In one book, you can see through Kahn's famous works, like Salk Institute of Biography Reaserch and Yale Center for British Art. Nice photos and descriptions. This book can be the beginning step for approaching Kahn's philosophy of architecture. He say, "Existence will determines the every nature of things". He used the simple forms to establish a fine-art-class architecture style. Kahn's works could be said as "Simple in FORM, but not simple in MIND."

A great overview of Kahn's career.
A beautiful book...It's filled with so much information about Kahn's major projects. Interesting, well-written text and dozens of sketches and model photos accompany each major project. I'd never heard of Grant Mudford, but his big, color photos are beautiful. There's a list of all of Kahn's projects and buildings from the 1920s until his death in 1974, and a section of Kahn's travel sketches and artwork. The pages are large, the print quality is impressive, and the impeccable graphic design, by Massimo Vignelli with Abigail Sturges, suits Kahn's style perfectly. And it's a good buy, too.

Nice projects horendous dimensions
The first project I built from this book is the Chimney Cabinet. Either the top Door Stile is too narrow or the door too short either way I lucked out and layed the door frame and doors out first before installing finding a 1" gap above the top door to the Stile. The dimensions are wrong. Second, The placement of the top door handle will hit a shelf darn near dead center!! These types of dimensional errors are totally in-excusable, and I recommend that all projects in this book be checked dimensionally before building.

Easy cookbook style furniture making
Let me think. How many projects of David have I made? Five or six I believe. The most time consuming was the Ohio corner cupboard, about four or five months. A fun easy project was the shoe-foot settle table. In about two months you will get a nice 46 inch around four person kitchen table.Current project is a work table. So why five stars for his book? First- few if any omissions in directions. Second- difficult aspects are anticipated and explained. Third- even individual joints are explained fully in the easy to read directions. Last but not least- if you enjoy, say, Fine Woodworking or other magazines, it is a fun read- and you may learn a few tricks of the trade. Have fun with the book!!!

Awsome book
This book is perfect for the beginner/intermediate woodworker who loves early American country furniture. All of the plans are either exact replicas or very close to the real thing. David's attention to detail is excellent. So far I've built about 7 of the pieces and am furnishing my home at a fraction of the cost of buying the real thing. I only wish he would print another volume with more projects.

Not as thorough as they make you believe...
This dictionary is definitely for the layman's theologian. For those of a somewhat firm grasp of theological terminologies, you're better off sticking with a standard merriam-webster collegiate abridgement, or a larger, deeper theological dictionary. This dictionary is probably for the novice, or beginning student of theology or philosophy. There are many terms NOT included in this dictionary that I find often in theological studies that you'd think would be included. Where's the entry for "semiotics"? Where's the entry for "cosmogony"? Or how about "bibliomancy"? This book is very small, so at least they don't mislead you about its size. There are other theological dictionaries which have better application for the theology student/scholar in mind.

I suggest picking up Westminster's Dictionary of Theological Terminology by McKim for a more complete dictionary.

great choice for laymen and students.
For an itsy-bitsy, teeny-weeny book it sure goes a long way in helping you understand the most common (yet curious) terms that you encounter in theological books and articles. For those laymen who may feel just a little embarrassed when your friends come over and see an encyclopedia length dictionary of theological terms on the shelf next to your Bible when they know that you still get confused between Genesis 1:1 and John 1:1, this may be the book for you. It also has the distinct advantage of not requiring a day's wages in order to obtain it. A great value. Get it while it is still in the single digits.

Pocket Full of Theology
I have several theology dictionaries which are helpful, but none give such pithy definitions. The definitions are short and to the point, without giving a lot of parallel information. Sometimes you just need a simple definition, not one that is pages long. This book does just that. I found that, while being short, each definition does not limit the meaning of the word too much. There is a good balance between giving open definitions and ones that still mean something. A most helpful resource that I use often.

Excellent content but many proofreading errors
This introductory textbook gives a balanced (neither overly conservative nor overly liberal) introduction to all of the classical interpretive questions. Unfortunately, many proofreading errors found in the previous edition have not been corrected in this edition. Some of these errors are substantive, such as putting all of the prophetic books under the heading "former prophets" on p.18 and putting Jerusalem instead of Samaria as the city conquered by the Assyrians in 722 (in the glossary under "transcolonization"). However, an alert teacher can compensate for these types of flaws in an otherwise very competent presentation of the contents and interpretative issues of Hebrew Bible.

Point/Counterpoint
Insightful, informative and thought provoking. In a sense a Maverick, by standing up to APICS and finding fault with MRP, Lilly provides a very good historical perspective on how he came to fulfill a "make to order" systems software need. In spite of a mild product "sell", it is must reading for anyone in manufacturing with throughput concerns. Is it up there with The Goal? No. But it certainly makes a very good companion to Goldratt's book and Everything I Learned About Manufacturing, I Learned in Joe's Garage. Jim Altfeld, Altfeld, Inc. Strategic Corporate, Marketing and Sales Planning

Pippins to Crab Apples
The intranet vs. Lotus Notes is like comparing "the internal combustion engine vs. General Motors." Lotus Notes requires far less administration in a more secured environment without the "frankenstructure" of hacking conflicting standards together. This book is simply riding on the wave of anti-Lotus Notes yellow journalism that is very powerful in a sales pitch, but cannot yield substantial ROI on delivery.
