One of My All-time Favorites!
Caps for Sale is a great book that has been one of my favorites ever since I was a little child! I am eleven now and it is still one of my favorites! This book is about a peddler who is having some trouble selling his caps so he has a lot of them on his head. He sits down to rest one day (still with all the hats on his head)and a bunch of monkeys come out of the tree he is resting against. Each of the monkeys is wearing one of his caps when he wakes up. The best part of the book is seeing how he tries to get his caps back! This book is great for those who are learning how to read or to read to your toddler because of the repetition, the humor, and the great pictures!

A true classic
This book is well loved by my son and myself.
I love books that have simple pictures that add to the text rather than distract. I like the simple story line. I particularly like that this book can be used as a stepping stone to other activities (acting like a monkey, balancing hats on your head etc.)
The repetitive nature and sing songy words are wonderful for prereading skills. My son loves to act like a monkey stealing my hat as we read this book.
A true classic.
A great classic!
When I read this book to my son, he loved the monkeys and the way that they imitated the peddler. If you act out the story, it is much more amusing and fun for the little ones. It has a rhythmic pattern that kids love. It helps children to think about what will happen next and predict the ending of the story. This is a very strong example of a circular text structure. All children should learn different text structures. It helps with comprehension. My son loved the illustrations. They are not fancy graphics or pictures with many colors. They are simple illustrations yet, it draws the attention. It is a must read for all kids.
A favorite book throughout generations
My four month old loves this book. Well, since he can't read, he loves it when Mommy and Daddy act out the story. I have great memories associated with this book; going to the library when I was younger, getting to pick only one or two books, and usually this was one of them (unless it was one being returned!) It's never easy to get my husband very 'into' reading books to our son, but this one is a cinch -- with all the stamping and shaking of fists, he can easily demonstrate and then have our son imitate with a little help. For a father who got frustrated because his son couldn't wrestle and play baseball five minutes after birth, this was a godsend. And little Alekz thinks Daddy is hilarious. From my generation to his, this is a wonderful book!

Rhyming?
This book was very cute which is why I gave it such a high rating. This book is a poor example of how to rhyme. There are several lines in this book that are close to rhyming but it isn't quite there in several instances. Good for teaching counting up and backwards from ten.
Night Fun
As a third grade teacher, I found this book useful on the 55th day of school. After reading the book, the children made a pyramid using manipulatives for the bats. We used 1" tiles. This demonstrates a growing pattern using +1 pattern to grow with. This is a nice lead-in to multiplication.
Great Book for introducing children to counting and adding
This book has a fun and exciting story line. Children will have fun reading about the 55 bats at the jamboree. The illustrations are colorful and eye-catching. Children can have fun counting, adding and subtracting the 55 bats at the Bat Jamboree. Watch out for the Bat Lady!

Those caps are for sale again!
This book is very similar to her first one, Caps for Sale, though this one has a stronger storyline. The peddler is back selling his caps-carrying them all on his head, as usual. But no one is buying-they're all at the county fair. At this fair there is a circus, which has an elephant who likes to take caps. He snatches all of the peddler's hats off his head and spreads them throughout the circus! The peddler has to find a new trick to get all his caps back. This book would be great for a circus storytime, as there a parade and a show feature prominently in the story.
a great sequel
Our 28month old son loves this book and it became the first book he asked to keep in his crib at night while he slept. The original ("Caps for Sale") was also a favorite but our little music lover likes this one better because of the band and instruments. Great book to read soon after a child experiences a fair, carnival or circus because they can relate their experience to the book's pictures and story. The text is very good (but not as good as the first book, simply because I think the first book has truly outstanding text.) The book is very slightly, but not objectionably dated, with regard to race and gender depictions but the values depicted in the story are good and developmentally appropriate for toddlers on up. Definitely worth reading.
Great Sharing Time Book For Pre-K And Parent
Our 3 1/2 year old thoroughly enjoyed this book - first he loved the caps and then he loved all the circus going-ons. The sharing time served as a great introduction to a peddler and then had us empathize with his feelings and experiences as the caps were taken from him and then his unique personage recognized by the circus people. We highly recommend this book!

ABC-ZZZ SLeepy
What a great way to re-inforce the alphabet than at the end of the day, with great animals and mom too! This books takes the "a" in yawn through the "Z" in zzz... sleep, and is full of things toddlers love, animals, mom tucking them in. My little one adds her favorites ( K is for Kate, that's me!) just before bed.
