An Essential Reference
This book is an essential reference for those that are involved in researching terrorism. As the below reviewer cites, there is a timeline of key events and an A-Z of terms and organizations, as well as a very extensive bibliography/recommended reading section. I use this book so often, that it no longer has a place on the shelf, it sits on my desk. A very impressive effort on the authors' part. Outstanding.

Terrorism from A to Z
The Historical Dictionary of Terrorism by Sean Anderson and Stephen Sloan provides a ready reference into the multifaceted topic of terrorism. The authors literally go through the breadth of terrorism from A to Z--including informative entries on groups, concepts, individuals. The work includes an extensive bibliography that is helpful in continuing research on the listed topics. The Dictionary also contains a chronology of significant incidents, ideas and personalities pertaining to terrorism from A.D. 66 to 1994. This 450 page work has been an essential reference tool for me as an analyst and an academic. I have used the Dictionary to refresh my memory of groups and individuals as I write, as well as, before I teach a college class on issues of terrorism. While I would like more depth on some of the entries, the entries provide enough material to answer most of my questions, or at least point me in the right direction. It is one of my most used books in my terrorism library.

Most Important Book on Saving our Fisheries and Oceans!
If you are looking on how to improve your fishing methods or where-to-go fishing, Stephen Sloan's Ocean Bankruptcy is not the book. Steve has taken the pulse of our oceans repeatedly through the years, and let me tell you something: this book is not only for anglers, but for everyone on earth who is concerned about our fisheries, our environment, our oceans, our earth.
Every decade a book comes along that alerts us to various problems that face our world.
Ocean Bankruptcy is the environmental book for the present decade. Compares with Rachel Carson's Silent Spring in importance.
With the tremendous demand for seafood around the world, huge commercial longline boats are raping our oceans for quick profits. Unless something is done, and done quickly, our oceans may never recover.
Sloan is not afraid to duke it out with wealthy individuals, influential friends, powerful lobbies and he even takes on countries themselves. He names names. I've never read a more gutsy environmental book; Steve is lucky to be alive! There is mystery, intrigue, deception, tension so the book is a real page turner, but, more importantly, it is absolutely necessary reading if we are to save our oceans.
Sloan is one of our best, most versatile anglers today. He has done it all. Fished everywhere. H e could enjoy fishing the world's best places for the rest of his life; instead he is greatly concerned about the future of the oceans and devotes most of his time, energies and resources to help save our fisheries.
CNN, 60 Minutes, Dateline and PBS would do well to interview Sloan regarding Ocean Bankruptcy.
Buy this book immediately... if not sooner.

Eye Opening View of World Fisheries
This fast paced book about the destruction of our world fisheries reads like a Clancy novel, the intrigue alone will amaze you. Best of all Sloan actually comes up with easy solutions to these problems. This is a must read whether you like to fish, eat fish, or are concerned about the environment.

A Treasure for Your Fly-Fishing Library
Gleaned from more than 450 hours of live radio interviews, Fly Fishing Is Spoken Here is a handsome volume that belongs on the bookshelf of every literate fly fisher. Interviews with the likes of James Prosek, Ernest Schwiebert, Valerie Haig-Brown, Joseph Humphreys, Robert Linsenman, Fen Montaigne, and ten others provide a unique perspective not only on these individuals but on the sport they clearly love.

Credit editor Stephen Sloan, perhaps best thought of as the Larry King of the fishing world, for recognizing the unique vitality of the spoken word and capturing its essence in these interviews collected from his weekly nationally syndicated radio show, "The Fishing Zone." That this collection originated as dialogue, with all the spontaneity and flow of conversation intact and preserved, ensures that each of the interviews captured bears an immediacy and honesty seldom retained in conventional narrative about the sport. It's surely no accident that the effect of reading this book bears no small resemblance to the sport it explores: it's somewhat like immersing oneself in a trout stream, fly rod in hand, and enjoying the unpredictable process of discovering the treasures that lie within.

And credit publisher William Trego with creating yet another beautiful limited-edition volume from his Meadow Run Press. The heir apparent to the Derrydale Press of an earlier generation, no other publisher of sporting titles today produces books of such consistently high quality and beauty, and this volume certainly adds to that well-deserved reputation. Slipcased and with original paintings and drawings by the subject of the book's opening interview, James Prosek-a young artist hailed by The New York Times as "a fair bid to become the Audubon of the fishing world"-this is a book with, believe it or not, heft and beauty significant enough to outweigh and obscure its hundred-dollar price tag. Each of the 750 copies is signed by Sloan and Prosek, ensuring that this book is certain to remain in high demand.

Fantastic 2 in 1 children's book! Story book and coloring
This is a wonderful children's book that has black and white illustrations. The kids can read the story, or have it read to them, and they can color in the illustrations as they wish. If you are from Cleveland this book is a must as it is a story about Cleveland. It is a book that you will pass on down from generation to generation!

excellent but bothersome
This is well-written and generally solid, but has a couple of flaws. The biggest is that the author seems to have been taken in by some researchersd who most likely were sources. The result: the book gives far too much credence to the work of an early 20th century doctor named Coley, whose family has funded research since and has campaigned for credit. Coley's work, while creative and provocative-- for which he deserves credit-- was not good science, and the book made it sound as if it was true. This troubled me throughout my reading. The writer also seems to take some pretty hard (and unfair) shots at a prominent current researcher, Steve Rosenberg. Again, the author was most likely listening too closely to a couple of sources. Rosenberg is far more likely to win a Nobel Prize than to fade into nothingness, as the author implies. He was the first person to stimulate the immune system to cure certain cancers. Nonetheless, this is a first-rate book, and if I didn't know anything about the subject (which I do) I would have enjoyed it even more than I did even including the flaws.

a romp through tumor immunology
This is an engaging read! An excellent introduction for the reader curious about the history of cancer biology/immunology especially from the standpoint of clinical therapies. It also provides a glimpse of the inside workings of research institutes and scientific collaborations. The only reservation I have is that the prose tends to the purple but that is not too great a distraction from the skillful storytelling. Read it!

Accessible to all
I thoroughly enjoyed Hall's account of the development of immunotherapy. I read it cover to cover. You need not be an immunologist to enjoy this book, but you might want to become one after.
