Great combination of Americana and western romance
Five years ago, Duston Bennett and Cassandra Rakefield made love the night before their wedding. The next day, the groom stood the bride up at the altar. After a restless night fighting his own conscience, Dustin decided that he could not marry her just to complete his father's scheme of keeping her large trust fund as a "client" of their law firm. She does not realize that he acted nobly, but did believe he did not care enough for her at all. Now her Wyoming ranch is in financial trouble and she needs to borrow from her trust fund.

Cassandra is dismayed when the law firm sends a representative out to ascertain if her ranch needs the $25,000 she has requested. She becomes irate when she learns that Dustin is the agent visiting her. She becomes disgusted when she realizes that her feelings for Dustin remain strong. With her home and livelihood at stake, Cassandra knows that she must act with tolerance and discretion even though he could easily break her heart again.

In this rousing spin-off of JULIANA, Gloria Dale Skinner presents her audience with another heart-warming Americana novel that wrenches at the reader's heart. CASSANDRA is filled with action as one incident after another draws the protagonists together. However, the story is also a beautiful introspective mood piece that bares open the souls of the two lead characters. The audience feels their pain, fear, and love and root for them to find a way to make a life together. Ms. Skinner demonstrates that she is climbing the ladder to the top of the profession.

As good as she always is with a dry wit to make you smile
In Poppy, Colorado, a renowned madam, who is dying, informs Cason Murdock and Rosellen Lattimer the truth about the incident that ties their two families together forever. Fifteen years ago, two people robbed the local bank, killing the teller in the process. Rosellen's father, the town sheriff killed Cason's dad, who he accused of committing the crime. The well-regarded law enforcement official's word was accepted as gospel by the townsfolk. Now, the madam says that the deceased sheriff actually committed the crimes. She insists that his partner was his cousin.

Cason immediately buys into the former hooker's story while Rosellen totally rejects the concept. However, Both realize that the truth lies with her uncle, a man she has not seen in years. As they both seek the missing man out, they fall in love with each other. However, with the past weighing heavily on the present, the future appears to be very dim for this couple.

HELLION is brilliant we! ! stern romance due to the addition of an intriguing who-really-done-it. The story line is crisp and brings alive an era when females did not become sheriffs. The lead characters are a fine duo, who will receive much reader attention. Gloria Dale Skinner scribes a glorious tale that will be devoured by fans of the sub-genre.

Storyline ....
Since Amazon posted such a limited editorial review, here's the description from the back of the book to help you decide if this book is for you: "Her father's tragic death left Anna Dudley to manage the family tavern all alone. She needed business, so although there was a war on, she housed all travellers, regardless of their sympathies. That included the new minister who had just arrived in town. A handsome man with a confident air, he had a sensual manner that hinted at earthly pleasures. Who was Jordan Kent? His steady and commanding gaze made Anna feel brazen -- and she yearned to feel his hands caressing her all over, bringing out her most wanton desires .... Jordan Kent's current assignment for George Washington included masquareading as the new minister in this Connecticut town so he could keep an eye on Lowell Tavern. But Jordan was too much of a sinner to keep himself away from the tavern's alluring proprietress. A willowy innocent with lovely gray eyes, Anna's strength and spirit tempted Jordan constantly. He had to have her ... and vowed to uncover her trule loyalties in his bed, where he could boldly sampler her treasures as she revealed her innermost secrets!"
