Absolutely Unique
Miki Frank's stunningly honest book about the most difficult subject to imagine -- the death of a spouse -- will be of tremendous comfort to anyone who is faced with the sudden quiet and soltitude after a robust life lived fully with a loved one. The author doesn't flinch from considering issues around her own emotional stability once "contact" with her deceased husband is established. In fact, what happens -- and what is detailed so compellingly in this fine book -- is so antithetical to everything the author THOUGHT she believed in beforehand that it is all the more powerful. This book is not for everyone; you have to be in a place of depth and have had a strong love connection of one's own to have it make "sense". If this describes you, this book will move you and keep you riveted. I finished it wanting more, and I certainly hope Miki Frank will return for a second volume. Bravo.

From Stanley with Love- An Irrepressible Spirit speaks .....
From first page to last, Miki Frank's heartwarming book totally gripped me. I couldn't put it down even at the end of a long day. Through vignettes written after her husband Stanley died, Miki shares the story of her relationship with the love of her life and the pain of her bereavment. Flesh and blood Stanley was larger than life, and much to Miki's surprise, during the first year of their separation through death, he turns up again to engage her in his own inimitable way, to challenge her assumptions, make her laugh as he always did, and share his new world.
This stretches Miki beyond belief, but she can't deny what's happening in their daily rendezvous at the typewriter. Slowly but surely, kicking and screaming, Miki learns to accept that
"Death ends a life but not a relationhip", and a new chapter in their life together begins. A most beautifully written book, full of fun and compassion inspite of the pain, it will also be of great help to those losing a partner or those coming to terms with the possiblity of life after death.

From Girl to Woman (With a Very Special Mentor)
"I received your kind letter and thank you for it. It was very nice of you to send me your photo, so that I have a better impression of you as a person..."

So begins Otto Frank's first letter to a young American girl in 1957, a suburban California girl named Cara as much in the mainstream of American society as the pop songs she listens to on the radio. That girl had read Anne's diary, had been deeply moved by it, and had written to Anne's father.

He wrote back.

Cara wrote to him again. Otto wrote back. She wrote again. He wrote again. And so on and so forth...for decades. They grew close. Cara faced all the same questions we face, about school, love, marriage, child-rearing, politics, family. But she had a very, very special mentor.

This book is her story of that relationship. Yes, it's a remarkable pairing. But it's also a remarkable tour through the last half of the 20th century, through the Civil Rights movement and Vietnam, the Watergate days, too many wars in the Middle East; all reflected in a single woman's coming of age. The letters back and forth are always revealing and quite often gripping. They are about private troubles and public issues. And when Cara, as a woman, goes to visit an ailing Otto, by now an old man, it would take a reader with a hard heart indeed not to feel a lump in the throat, at least. Then, when Otto her a collection of something that takes us, the reader, completely over the edge, in the best possible way.

We recommend this book to anyone, of any age. It is just special.

Dear Cara Offers Inspiration and Shares a Story of Love
Dear Cara is a book about a man and a woman, across the world from one another, both in miles and the lives they lead. Otto Frank, who survived the death camps of the Holocaust but lost his daughter there, shares his hope and inspiration with a young American woman whose life is unfolding. His shares his unfailing human spirit and his love with Cara, a young woman who first wrote to him at the age of 13. Throughout her life, from her teen-age years, to college to marriage to motherhood, Otto Frank is there with her, offering his support and his inspiration. He listens to Cara's dreams, her troubles, her worries and through their correspondence, she feels the joy that a young person feels when someone is listening. A young woman's voice is heard. When, as an older woman, Cara's world is turned upside down, the wisdom and hope that Otto Frank gave her for twenty years, sustains her through her pain and provides her the support she needs to endure and accept, and ultimately, to grow from her own experiences. This book is must-read for young people and for adults who believe, or want to remember, through pain and turmoil, how important and precious hope, and love, is.

The invention of the first light bulb inaugurated a new age for man: Electricity. Just as Edison had to create the tools to make the first bulb, he had to create the industry to use it. He did, and in doing so he assembled the first research laboratory and gathered around him a collection of great minds -- a rich assortment of men with varying talents.

A classic biography of Einstein, deep and beautiful
Phillip Frank was the German professor who replaced Einstein when he left Prague for Berlin. Frank was a fine theoretical physicist and a very cultivated man. Afterwards, in America, he became a philosopher of science at Harvard, I believe. This book is not the most complete biography of Einstein, but I still think it is the most intelligent, and the most beautifully written. Having had many conversations with Einstein at the peak of his career, he offers wonderful portraits of both the early life of the genius and of his work. I lost the count of how many times I read this book!

Short but Inspiring
It's a short book- and it works to have both authors in one book... it inspired me to think a little bit like them- but I feel like I need more- to constantly inspire me to remember God. A daily meditation book on this subject would be great!

A Must Read for Christians
A wonderfully thought provoking book. It should be required reading for every Christian. If you have ever read Charles Sheldon's book "In His Steps" and said, "Boy that was neat...what if we really did ask ourselves 'What Would Jesus Do' instead of just wearing a bracelet" well here is the story of two real people who strived to do just that.

As Christians we are called to strive to be more and more like Christ (sanctification) and this book sets up a fine example of how that can be achieved. Unlike a how to book this book shows you that growing in the knowledge of God is a process that does not happen over night. I highly recomend this book. Just one word of caution...do not read this book with the idea that it could never happen today. It will only never happen if we don't make the attempt. May we all joing Brother Lawarenc and Frank in the Practice of HIS Presencs!

To change your life...
This book is AWESOME. It totally inspired me. Frank Laubach's part especially showed me that I needed to seriously give God more time. In reading about these two people's journey's closer to God, I was able to see that I needed to do the same thing. In calling God to mind as often as possible, your whole spirit changes. You become more willing and eager to live your ALL for Him, just as He wishes. This book can help you find more ways to bring God into your life, and give you examples of the great faith God gives to those who try and practice this; His presence.
