I LOVED all the Jenny Linsky books! Bring them back!
It's been at least 25 year since I've read any but I still remember the members of the Cat Club: Jenny Linsky the shy black kitty who always wore a scarf, her adopted brothers Checkers and Edward, Concertina the club secretary, who scratched notes into the bark of a tree...

Why oh why are these books out of print? My favorite was Jenny Goes to Sea, where she visits exotic locales like Zanzibar and Siam.

I Wish I Could Join the Cat Club
This book from my childhood is one that lingers in my memory. I recently came across my old dog-eared copy, and hoped to find another one used. Instead, I find that it is (rightly) hard to obtain because it is (wrongly) out-of-print. At least I now know I am not alone in my affection for this volume and series. _The Cat Club_ explores that place between our sense of self-worth and our social status, in ways that still delight me (even at forty-something)

This was a great book about a shy little cat & her friends
I loved this book and a child and wanted to get it for my children, to my dismay i found it to be out of print. I found it in the public library, though, and my kids also fell in love with it and wanted to keep it and read it over and over. They were sure sad the day it had to return to the library. This is a wonderful book about a shy little cat and her adventures with the cat club. A must for any child who loves cats and grownups as well.

I have always loved "Baby Dear"
Growing up, I loved reading stories with my mother. My very favorite by far was (and still is) Eloise Wilkin's "Baby Dear." The story of a young girl and her doll is delightful for children of all ages. This book meant so much to me that I would take it to bed with me at night and sleep with it as if it were a beloved animal. My current copy is so worn that it had to be taped. I now have a one month-old niece with whom I would like to share this beautiful story. Although it is taking some time, I hope to find a copy of "Baby Dear" so that she can love it as much as I did.

Baby Dear is bibliotherapy when a new baby comes home
Baby Dear, though old-fashioned in culture, is timely in it's advice. The story unfolds as a new baby is brought home and the older sister receives a doll of her own to care for while her mommy cares for the real baby. Big sister never seems jealous because she has a baby just like mother. The most poignant part is when they rock their babies and tell them how special they are; "This is how our babies know they are the most wonderful babies in the world." It's too bad this book is out of print. It makes an excellent gift to give with a doll to a child experiencing sibling jealousy. Wish Golden Book would re-release it and the classic illustrations of Eloise Wilken.

A gift for my children
My eldest daughter picked up a copy of Baby Dear at a garage sale. It was missing its cover and the pages were worn and even torn. She had to have it. Thank goodness. This book helped ease my three oldest daughters into becoming big sisters. Now I want to give each of my girls a copy to share with my grandchildren. Please Golden Book put this book back into print. We all need to share this beautiful story.

Betsy's Wedding!
What a great story! I keep it on my window seat to flip through often--it's one of my very favorite stories!Betsy and Joe finally meet in New York after Betsy's year-long trip to Europe! They are finally together and determined never to be seperated again. Afetr many years of loving each other, they will be married. Joe convinces Betsy to marry him in a week. The scene in the restaurant in New York where Joe tells Betsy how much he loves her, how they belong together, and how she must always love him is so touching! Through this part(and the moment when they saw each other when Betsy came off the ship) I was oblivious to everything as I read. Of course, that was the case through the rest of the book as well. Joe's job hunt is hilarious. The day before they are married, he and Betsy go from one newspaper place to the other, Joe determined to find a job so Betsy's father will consent to the match. Well, of course, he succeeds. They are married. Joe and Betsy have a wonderful relationship. It is truly the best I ever read about. They both treat each other with such consideration. Joe is so gracious as Betsy learns to cook(which is a big undertaking for her.) He is so considerate of Betsy, reading to her at night, helping her with the dishes when her cooking endeavors fail, and many other things. Betsy tries so hard to be a good wife to Joe, considering that the most important thing in her life. She even refuses a job in newspaper writing, feeling that she has another job already as keeper of the house and companion to Joe. I liked the way that Betsy handled Aunt Ruth's coming. She did not mask her feelings and was honest, but still, unselfishly, let her come. It ended up working out too! Well, I just loved the story. Their relationship taught me a lot about marriage. I loved the way they treated each other. I don't see the like much these days. It was great! I cried and cried when Joe left for war. But, my fellow readers, I have learned that the books about Betsy were largely based on the author's life. In a biography about her I learned that her husband (who was much like Joe) returned from war--so take heart--Joe returned too and he and Betsy, no doubt, continued their "golden world."

A perfect ending to the wonderful Betsy-Tacy series
The whole Betsy Tacy series is a triumph---some of the best reading there is. Like few others series (the Little House books are the other that comes to mind) we truly can read and watch Betsy grow from a little 5 year old to a married woman, and grow along with her. As a little girl, I read the early books in this series, and didn't know there were more. You can imagine my delight when I discovered the high school years and beyond were also part of the continuing story! In this book (as you can guess) Betsy gets married, but so does Tib! I like it that Betsy's wedding is not the end of the book--we also get to see her get started on married life during the diffecult WWI period. I remember the minute I finished this book. I had a feeling of happiness but also sadness that never again would I read something new for the first time about Betsy, Tacy, Tib, Joe, Julia, Margaret and all the rest! But the last lines were done so well--they looked to the past and into the future and made me feel that although this was all that was written about them, they continued to exist somewhere out there in the land that wonderful characters in wonderful books live on in! If you have never read this series, I envy you! Get all the books, read them, and you will remember and make them part of your life forever.

Glorious fluff!
Betsy is back in the USA after a long time in Europe-and Joe is there to greet her. After being in love for years, the couple agree to get married, within the week no less! After Betsy convinces her family to agree to this, we watch as Betsy and Joe are married, and embark on a new life together.

Set near the turn of the century, around WW1, this is a view of every young woman's dream of marriage-a fun, intelligent, strong husband who adores you. Betsy and Joe are friends first, lovers second, something which is always important. At one point, Joe states that he can talk to Betsy, and that he fantasizes about their home life. A lot of guys could take a page from Joe's book!

This book is in no way dated, bringing Betsy to the close of her girlhood and teenage years. If you liked "Anne of Green Gables" or other books by Montgomery, check out Lovelace, for both your little girls and not-so-little girls.

AWESOME!
Did you ever really want something and it didn't work out the way you wanted it to? Have you ever been in a relationship and suddenly all you could see were the persons faults and you wondered how you could have missed them for so long? Well, there are reasons for this. And while this book is 'metaphysical' which may not appeal to some, it explains an awful lot, and once you look at the explanations, you will realize why things didn't work out the way your wanted, and you will know how to keep that from happening the next time.

I've applied the principles they discuss in this book, and the changes in my life are amazing to say the least. I'm always happy and peaceful. There are no more 'bad' days. Life goes smoother. People are more fun. And my life was pretty good before I read this book, so I can barely fathom the tremendous difference it would make to someone who doesn't like their life.

The Secrets To Manifesting Your Reality!
I love this book! This book describes how your thoughts really do create your reality. If you're familiar with the Seth Material than you know what I'm talking about (except this book gives real exercises, something I found lacking in the Seth Material). Abraham says, "You live the BALANCE of Your Thoughts." and he/they give you real exercises to joyously create your life. For example, they say that when you feel negative emotions YOU ARE CREATING WHAT YOU DON'T WANT. Then, they give you a simple 3-minute mental exercise called, "Building A Bridge" to get you from what you don't want to what you really want.

They describe how most people "Create By Default" by not really paying attention to their own warning system (their emotions). They then give you ANOTHER REAL EASY EXERCISE to deliberately create your reality, "Exercise for Deliberate Creation" and all you need is a few sheets of paper, a pen and some imagination.

Fabulous! I plan on buying everything available from these guys!
--Jason Bedunah

One of the most important books ever!
This book goes on my top 5 list. This book gives the nuts and bolts of "Conscious Creation" as introduced by Seth. But this book picks up the story where Seth left off and gives you exercises and detail on how we create what we concentrate on. This book kind of gives the "missing piece" and shows you both sides the positive and countering negative creation. This book, for me, will always be part of my "Seth" library. Strange to find in such a book is a chapter on "Earth Changes". Apparently Abraham gives us this information so we can AVOID problems with the upcoming changes that I'm guessing might happen sometime before or near the 2012 deadline given by the Mayans.

Great book
I have a lot of kosher and nonkosher cookbooks in my collection, and this is one of the best. I used it quite often to make dinners for the family and guests. The recipes are simple and most of the ingredients can be found in your cupboard. My family especially enjoy the chocolate mousse recipe which is one of our favorite dessert!

The best!
I still have my original 1977 copy that my mother gave me when I started to keep kosher. The jacket's long since torn off, but it's as useful as ever. Everything is simple and delicious. I think if I could only keep one cookbook, this would be it!

It's a fabulous cookbook with so many different recipies
Very well made. Tells you everything from baking challah to gourmet foods and deserts. Very detailed.

A fun and amusing tale.
I am an ultimate Sabrina fan and enjoyed this book tremendously. Sabrina is feeling down in the dumps. All of her closest friends have summer jobs so Sabrina is all on her own,for the whole summer. Whoa.....Hold it right there Sabrina. Sabrina's aunts solve her problem. She can get a summer job herself. Why not? So Sabrina's aunts find her a job in a summer camp and zap up an amazing resume.Sabrina gets accepted immediately and is packed off to Camp Bearclaw. Sabrina decides to look on the brighter side of Camp Bearclaw. What could go wrong? For a start, super counselor Sabrina is in charge of cabin 13 - the troublemaker's cabin. Each kid is troublesome in their own way.Lucky for Sabrina, who is a teenage witch. She can just cast a behaviour spell on the kids so they will act like angels. Disaster! They are acting like angels but it's freaking Sabrina out! What's she going to do?The tug of war competition is coming up and she knows cabin 13 can't win with a good behaviour spell on them! So remove the spell Sabrina! Um,it's not as easy as that.Sabrina can't remove it .She doesn't know how. Oops! What are the consequences? Is Sabrina able to remove the spell or is 13 a loser's cabin? To find out read this fantastic tale by John Vornholt.

It was a good book!! I suggest you read it!!
I like this book because of the way Sabrina uses her magic to sort-of in a way teach the girls in Cabin 13 a lesson on how mean she can be. She really taught them a lesson!! I liked how she made them like robots. She amazed all the other Camp counselor on how well she handled those girls. She was new and some of the other counselers that had expierience were probably a little bit embarrased. At first, she was like OH MY GOSH!! I can't believe that you gave me these campers!! Sometimes it even me at how well she handled them!! I know I couldn't have handled them, especially after the things they did to Sabrina!!

MidWest Book Review
"Sara's Children: The Destruction of Chmielnik is the graphic, starkly written story of how five Polish children from the Garfinkel family survived slave labor, starvation, beatings, typhus, exposure, and fatigue at the hands of the Nazi's during World War II. This is the true story of an horrific time, and an enduring testament to the strength of the human spirit under even the most adverse and hazardous of circumstances. Sara's Children's is an impressive and very welcome contribution to the growing library of Holocaust literature and ultimate a story of love, joy, and hope."&... One of Sara's children was with Anne Frank before she died, she was the same age and in the same camp as her!)

Sara's Children
Over the years I have read several books on the holocaust, but few as compelling as "Sara's Children". Hagstrom has a unique approach with her journalistic style that brings the human suffering of the Shoah down to a very personal level. The research and documentation that went into this account of the Garfinkel family is evident throughout the book. While "Sara's Children" is very factual the reader is swept away by Hagstrom's appealing writing style and a story that could have remained untold were it not for the perseverance and dedication of the author. I only hope that we will see more Hagstrom books in the future.

Totally Amazing
The mere fact that five children of a family survived the horrendous ordeals of Nazi concentration camps is a miraculous story and one that needed to be told. To be told by an author that has a historian's scholarly approach to researching the facts, as well as having the ability to give an extremely realistic depiction of the Jewish situation, makes this book totally amazing, unlike other accounts of the Holocaust that I have read. At the beginning of the book, there was joy and hope for the Garfinkle family, then terrible evens that took them to the extremes of sadness and despair, to the present time of Sara's surviving children to experience joy and hope once more. Suzan Hagstrom has written a book that is both documented and personalized by her style of writing and her personal interviews with the surviving Garfinkle family that brings the times and the characters together in an unforgettable saga. Suzan's dedication to "telling" this story is amazing, by writing this book in her "spare time". She is to be commended for her excellent work and determination. I will recommend this book to friends and also my book club!

One of THE classic early reader books
This is the first book I can clearly recall reading on my own (I'm 39). My Dad used to read it to me, and one day I read it to him. I remember him proudly calling my Mom into the room to hear me read it from cover to cover. I recently discovered a copy at the "used books for sale" section of my library, and excitedly rushed home to read it to my five year old. He loves it. This is a conceptually brilliant book for children. This is a great book for several reasons. First, it teaches the virtues of kindness and hard work. Second, it has superbly crafted simple sentence construction, and it's written to facilitate early reading by using word and concept repetition. Third, it has great illustrations and easy-to-read type. It also has three chapters, which was a new concept for my son.

This is one of the all time great early reader books. If there is an early reader in you life, get it for him or her!

A keeper!
My not quite 3 year old son discovered this book in the preschool library and ADORES it. This year his birthday party is at a fire station, and although they probably won't have a fire cat there, he will have one at home forever more when he opens the gift of his very own copy of Fire Cat.

Unlike other reviewers, I never heard of this book and at first thought it was kind of boring..as I read and reread it to my son, I discovered the beauty in the story and understand why he is so taken with it!

It will be wonderful to keep this in his permanent library and remind him of it someday when he has a child of his own!

A Great book for those who are beginning to read!
This was one of the first books I ever read
I am thirty-two and still have a copy.
A story about a small cat who starts out
chasing other cats and being mean.
He is adopted by a Fire Station
and becomes The Fire Cat
One day he rescues a small kitten
and becomes a good cat.
This is still my favorite book ever!

Keeps you guessing
This is a wonderful book. Every time I go to the Smokey Mountains I make sure that this book goes with me. As I am riding through the mountains I am always wondering what really did happen to the people in the book. It will keep you guessing even after you have read the last page.

Excellent Accounting of Factual Events
This book is a "must read" for anyone who enjoys the challenge of untangling a web of the unknown mixed with the truth. The authors not only furnish an excellent accounting of factual events, they often challenge the readers to draw their own conclusions. Are these people really missing in the mountains? Are they dead? Did some step into the realm of the unknown? Or did they use the mountains simply as an escape route, knowing they could never be found.

To this day, the Smoky Mountains are filled with mysteries and most are never solved. What is it, about the ancient-old Smokies, that allows them to so cleverly hide their secrets? Travel with these authors as they try, with actual documentation and personal interviews, to find answers to these questions.

Fantastic Find
I am a professional folklorist in east Tennessee. For years I have conducted short walking tours telling ghost and folk tales.

So many people on my tours began asking me about stories they had read in this book - Unsolved Disappearances in the Great Smoky Mountains - that I bought a copy. I was spellbound and knew I had to tell these stories. I contacted the authors and arranged to tell the true stories they had written of people who vanished without a trace in the Great Smoky Mountains.

Pippi Longstocking

Pippi: Lindgren's Works Live On
Astrid Lindgren has passed away at the age of 94, but she will always be remembered as one of the best children's authors.

Pippi Longstocking (Pippi Långstrump in Swedish) is a delightful tale of a young girl who lives only with her horse and monkey, while taking care of herself using her wits and wackiness. After meeting the children next door, she opens their eyes to a whole new way of seeing things.

Their stuffy parents are appalled with the way the girl lives alone (her uncle is a ship captain), so they try to get the government involved in her care-taking. Leave it to Pippi to find a way out of a jam!

Children will love this tale for it's silliness, and its smart thinking!

18...And Still Reading Pippi
For years, I've enjoyed reading, re-reading, and re-re-reading Pippi Longstocking and the three other books that follow it. This is one of the very few children's books that are, very necessarily, a staple of any good childhood. Pippi allows every child, whether it be in age, or in heart, to live out fantasies of going to the ends of the earth and of having fun adventures from which they'll always come out on top, with Pippi leading the way. Though there were few books in the series, especially compared to most other children's series, the powerful words contained within their covers more than compensate for this, raising your imagination to new heights.

I have only one message for anyone reading this: BUY THIS BOOK. Whether or not you have children, this is an exciting, completely irreverent, and just plain fun story that will have you laughing and dreaming just like a kid--again. :)

Excellent Book
I thought that Pippi Longstocking was an excellent book. It was very exciting and full of adventure. I thought that it was cool that she had a monkey for a pet. I also liked that she lived alone, being a nine year old girl, yet she could take care of herself. If Pippi wasn't out making trouble she was at home cooking on the kitchen floor. She does everything that comes her way. She has a very high self-esteem and she is almost always up to something, whether it be dancing with the robbers or talking about her grandmother's housekeeper, Malin. I would recommend this book to older elementary students. They would have a fun time reading all the crazy things Pippi does.
