Our Solar System
I have never written a review for a book, but this book has inspired me to do so.

The photographs in the book are large and stunning. They are spectacular. Children are drawn to the book because it is so beautiful.

We bought this book for our 2 1/2 year old for Christmas, along with a set of plastic planets. Within weeks, she could name every planet. Further, she could tell us which planets are bigger than earth, which planets are smaller than earth, which planets have rings (and how many rings each of those planets has), how many moons each planet has (and which planets have no moons), why Mercury's surface has so many craters, which planets are hot, which planets are cold, etc., etc.

In short, this book is beautiful and informative. It is very well done! It is a fantastic introduction to our solar system. We are looking forward to reading more books by Seymour Simon!!!!!!!

Out of this world!
Simon explores space using fantastic photos from real spacecraft and satellites. My two-year-old son received this book for Christmas and we read it to him nearly every night before bed. He is fascinated with the photographs, and as a result of his attachment to this book he can name every planet and many of the satellites that surround them. It is amazing! He loves space now because of this book. Kudos, Simon!

Beautiful book loaded with information.
We used this beautiful book as the basis for a two-week unit study on the Solar System. Wonderful photos and easy-to-read text make this an excellent choice for your 3rd - 6th grade student.

The Heart : Our Circulatory System.
Like "The Brain", this is a great book with a step by step tour into the heart, its location, the chambers, circulation, and different kinds of blood cells. The pictures are amazing and makes one want to read. An excellent scientific health/well being book with excellent color illustrations. I would recommend this book to teachers and students from the 3rd grade through the 10th grades.

An excellent book.
My son (7 years old) and I were both entranced by this book. Simon describes our circulatory system in detail, with concrete comparisons that children can easily relate to. He is systematic and complete, yet fascinating. The book also has beautiful, full-page, color illustrations, most of which are electron microscope photographs. A great book

In defense of misunderstood animals
I really love the concept behind "Animals Nobody Loves," which combines an easy-to-read text by Seymour Simon with a wealth of full-color photographs. In his introduction, Simon notes, "Animals are not bad or evil. They do what they must in order to survive," This educational book focuses on various animals that have been unfairly feared or hated throughout human history.

Animals covered in the book include sharks, bats, grizzly bears, cobras, vultures, and many more, including two of my personal favorite misunderstood creatures: the rat and the hyena. As the book progresses Simon generally sheds some light on the myths surrounding each creature. The photographs are striking, although 2 or 3 may be a bit gory for some readers. Overall, a good book.

Beautiful Photos and Great Facts about Big Cats
Seymour Simon's book "Big Cats" is wonderful introduction for children to the world of the big cats. Children will love the huge, full-colour photographs of these gorgeous felines as they learn about lions, leopards, tigers and more. Written in terms that the young can quickly comprehend, this book presents interesting insights into these cats of the wild and makes learning about these animals a delight.

A teacher says...
As usual, Seymour Simon does some great work on showing children (and some teachers) the ins and outs of the human body. The easy to understand language and great photos make this a science teacher's must have!

The Brain : Our Nervous System.
Excellent health/well being book with a great step by step introduction to the brain, its parts, how it works and the memory. The pictures are the best part. Contains excellent color illustrations and will be of interest to students from the 4th grade through the 9th grade. It's also a recommended read for the teachers.

Helpful for lying on your back on a warm summer's night!
We're giving this book as a gift after having enjoyed it with our own family. We're amateur "stargazers", and our young friends enjoyed having this book as reference during visits with us. It's difficult to explain certain terms regarding the evening skies. This book helps to clarify, and does so beautifully!

Deserts, by Seymour Simon
This book is a very eduational, easy-to-read book talking about the dry, barren places on Earth. I liked all the interesting facts mentioned in this book and it was an informational and short read. Some of the facts that I found fascinating were that deserts occupy one-seventh of the earth's surface, any place that recieves less than 10 inches of rainfall/snowfall a year is called a desert, the way plants and animals have adapted to the harsh desert conditions, and the way deserts are formed. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in deserts and needs a book to get good facts from. The stunning color photographs supply you with a great visual and the text is clear and concise making it easy to understand

Where other books stop this one continues
This books introduces the more advanced Java topics, wich are mentioned in other books but never explained. This book explains these topics in clear and easy to understand way. If i see a Sybex book i mostly leave it in the bookstore, but this book is ok to pick up!

Fab...fab...fab...fab...fab...fab...fab...fab...fabulous!!
This is definitely one of the better (a lot better!) books on Java I've bought so far(I've got about 10 others). Explains difficult topics well. I use a more general book on Java for a general view of the language/classes and I use this one for more difficult topics which a lot of books only mention but do not explain. The use of diagrams and figures together with easy to follow explanations gives a better understanding of Java topics like streams, threads and networking.

Very detailed and specific look at Java features
After taking a class from Phil, I went ahead and bought his book. I have found it to be one of the best resources for general Java matter, as well as in depth discussions on advanced technologies. A+ Phil.
