Of all the many editions of the Haggadah that are in print,this is the one that I always keep coming back to. I have a largecollection of Haggadot (close to 100) but when I needed one standard one for everyone at my table I chose the Silverman Haggadah.

The Haggadah includes the traditional text with a more up-to-date translation. The english is gender sensitive and there are short commentaries and english readings throughout.

All in all I could not imagine going through Passover without this Haggadah.

The Silverman edition of "The High Holiday Prayer Book",though it has alot of powerful and spiritually moving prayers,is in need of modernization! The "Confessional"-how many modern day Jews truly repent,and mean it,when they say those very archaic prayers?! Yes,they do still have meaning;but,many of us are hardly guilty of committing sins-such as-:"For The Sin Which We Have Committed Before Thee By:Running To Do Evil"-;Or-"For The Sin That We Committed Before Thee By:Ensnaring Our Neighbor";-also-later in the prayer,-more listing of sins.--Did Rabbi Silverman ever consider that if one has suffered a loss,whether a father/cousin/or near family tragic event,that saying prayers such as all those list of painful and inhumanely harsh and long sins,plus,reading the prayer-"On Rosh Hashana,the good shall live,the wicked-die-Yom Kippur-they shall all be judged"-This causes nothing but renewed pain,and trauma,to the grieving family-This Is Not Healing!!! It Is Only Like A Festering Wound,that was healing,but now,has been torn asunder again!!!! The Text And Prayers Must Be Updated,And Modernized!!!--Last,The Ushers only make the entire High Holiday Experience More Stressful-Why?-Their Self-Rightious Attitude Is Offensive--At Least To This Devout And Cultured Jew-(My Father Was Jack Bernstein,A Magnificent Man And Father-A Giant Amongst Men;My Zaida:Cantor Akiva Bernstein-Who Had Ten Times The Voice Of Cantor Kawarski;As For the Present Rabbi,Well,I remember Rabbi Stuart Rosenberg;Bless Him;He Was A Giant Amongst All Rabbis...Rabbi Kohl Is Not Quite In That League!!!
