MERRY CHRISTMAS 2000
Dear Friends, I miss Miss Sibley and I miss Georgia. I tell you, if you were born in the South, no matter where you live forever after, you carry it with you in your heart. The way I get close to my heart these days, when I miss the South the most, is to read all of Celestine Sibley's books. I am so heartened that they are now being re-printed. If you have not read any of them, you are lucky. You have the whole wonderful experience to look forward to. I wish you peace.

PS. Since Miss Sibley is not here to tell you new iron skillet owners this, I will tell you. Do not wash it with soap ever, after you have seasoned it.. Use a brush and really hot water. A good way to season an iron skillet at first is to fry a large amount of potatoes in it. That way you season the skillet and get something good to eat at the same time!! :)

WE NEED ALL OF MISS SIBLEY'S BOOK REPRINTED!
Celestine sibley has written about 25 books. Almost all of them are either out of print or out of stock. I tell you, this is a fine how do you do! Some publisher will do all of us a great favor, and do LIFE one too, if he/she will please get these books back out into the stores. I never read one I didn't like. If there WAS one I didn't like, I liked it anyway. They make me glad. Do you KNOW how special that is? These books make me remember to slow down and cherish all of life. They make me wish I had a porch!

This book brings back so many fond memories
My mother used to read this book to me and my brothers every Christmas season when we were children. Being in a military family, we rarely spent Christmas in Georgia, which was our home of record. When I was expecting my first child and part of a new military family, my mother gave me a copy of this book and all those cozy memories of Christmas readings came back to me. If you can't celebrate Christmas in Georgia, Celestine Sibley takes you there with her timeless tales.

YOU MIGHT AS WELL BUY MORE THAN ONE COPY!
You might as well order more than one copy of all of Miss Sibley's books ( every single one of them) as you will always be glad to have a present on hand to give to someone. You can give these books to anyone, any age, for any occasion. In fact, if you lend these books to your friends, they may never give them back. Some people have been known to move out of town and take these books with them! ( These people know who they are) You have to be careful about these Celestine Sibley thieves! Just be sure that you have at least one set of the books for yourself, as you will receive such joy.

A priceless southern treasure
This book represents the special value system of the south, so aptly captured by Celestine Sibley as she speaks of her daily experiences and kindnesses to people, nature and her profession. She speaks with an honesty and humor that is uplifting and full of sentiment. She has a great ability to describe the environment so well that one thinks he/she is walking with her along the wooded paths. This book needs to be published again in tribute to her priceless gift of writing.

What A Wonderful Book!
This book cannot stay out of print for long. We need more books like this. It is so full of life and cheer. Please get it back in print. Cheers!

Not moonlight or magnolias...
...but True South, in a way that the New York Times could never understand. Sibley fans were appalled at the Times' obituary, which inaccurately described her as "the last of the white glove, tea-and-apple blossom set that had not a sharp edge on it." The Times just didn't get it, but then they have a habit of dissing female Southern writers, as they did when they fired Molly Ivins for describing a chicken de-feathering as a "gang pluck." Eldredge (full disclosure: a good friend and colleague at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution) gets it right, displaying the kind of seasoned journalism Sibley would have liked. He shows rather than tells, allowing us to spend just a few more hours with the sound of her voice, relating stories of murder, fame, love, betrayal, and most of all, high comedy. For those of us who began our days with her columns, a kind of Atlanta touchstone in the midst of constant change, these stories are a revelation. Most satisfying of all is the final chapter, in which an AJC colleague calls Bill Kovach (former Timesman and AJC editor) and takes him to task for his clueless quote in her obit. If you loved 'Tine, you're going to want this book.

Insightful, funny, and irreverent--just like Sibley herself
A wonderful collection of one of the South's most beloved journalists and columnists. A wide variety of news reporting which has just as much personality, poignancy, and humor as her columns. Eldredge's commnents are well-researched and strike the right tone.

A fine work by a fine man. Worth the read!
Harold Clarke is an amazing man. But before one pretends to know him, it is important to know that he voluntarily relinquished his position as the Chief Justice of Georgia's Supreme Court so that Charles Weltner, the great Civil Rights figure of Georgia's past, could become Chief Justice before he died of cancer.

Such an action is typical of Harold Clarke's character. He is an immaculate man of decency, a true southern gentleman. I will defer the fact that he knew my grandfather and cares greatly for my father and even me. The fact is that he is a hero of Georgia's often troubled judicial history, and I love him greatly.

His book is most worthy of being read. I can promise anyone who reads it that you will appreciate Chief Justice Clarke's simple upbringing and his rise to destiny.

A pleasant trip into the past.
A pleasant trip into the past. Runs the gamut of human emotions: Nostalgia, Humor, Sadness. So very reminiscent of when times and places were simpler. I highly recommend it. Very enjoyable reading. E. F. Howard .

Reminds you of the true meaning of Christmas!!!
This book contains short stories about different people encountered by the author. Most are very simple people and Sibley shows you Christmas and what these people consider blessings through their eyes.

Small Blessings
This is a beautiful book written from the author's heart and it goes directly to the reader's heart. Celestine Sibley uses words in an old fashioned, lovely way. I think this book should be required reading for all high school students.

Charming and heartwarming
Is there a writer's gene? If so, Sibley has inherited it from her talented grandmother. It is so refreshing to see young people value and honor the lessons of their elders. Sibley is a fine writer in her own right and I look forward to hearing more from her.

So enduring!
Fleming is a chip of the old block. I look forward to hearing more from this charming granddaughter!

Wonderful!!!
This is a very well written tribute to the author's grandmother and one I was anxious to read. She is on her way to being a very fine writer and one for 'tine (as she calls Celestine Sibley) to be very proud of. She gives the reader the sense of becoming close to the subject. In fact one gets the feeling of being welcome to go to lunch with the two of them!

ONE OF THE BETTER ONES!!!
Have read several Sibleybooks and this is one of the better ones to me. Kate Mulcay is set to interview Representative Return Pickett, called Turn by his friends. He does not show up and when they go to see about him all they find is a bloody trailer where he lived. Kate sets out to solve the mystery, she has to put up with theGandy girls, a crazy woman who a motel, a sheriff who is very young, a co-worker she can't stand. She has to go into a deep cave to try to rescue someone and she get shot at. The ending has a slight twist to it. All in all a nice little, faily clean mystery. A quick read and one I think you will enjoy.

I liked the book jacket.
I do not read many nonfiction books, and as I read a lot of books,I find I am down to fewer and fewer books. After saying this I find I start looking at many more books on the self that I at first didn't notice. I found the book very enjoyable and found it almost like reading a religious book. So saying this I will find Ms. Sibley" other books and will read and than pass judgment on them.Hopefully I will like them as well as FOR ALL SEASONS.
