Great book, that's not dumbed down.
I remember purchasing this book in the sixth grade, and reading it quickly and eagerly. Quite simply, it's a wonderful book that contains profound themes in a package that's intelligent, yet easy for preteens to swallow. Abuse of power, addiction, loneliness, responsibility, greed, destiny....it's all covered in this novel. I heartily recommend purchasing this book. And guys? Don't spoil this book for other people in your reviews!

Loved It
I may have read this book three years ago, but since then this book has remained clear in my memory. The wishes Kevin Midas made were tempting to make but hard to get rid of. He soon realizes that his glasses that he found on top of a mountain had saved his life and granted him many many wishes that came with consequences. The glasses have mystical powers and become more and more trouble for Kevin as the novel progresses. Truly a great read.

All The Story
Kevin Midas is a geeky kid who is short with few friends. He goes on a feild trip to a mountain called Divine Watch. He decides to climb it, and at toe top of the mountain, he finds a pair of neat sunglasses. He takes them with him, and wears them all the time. Soon, everything he says happens. He gets a bully to jump into a lake twice. But soon, things get out of hand. He changes history, like making two plus two equal three. He sends the kid bullying him to hell, which contains fire, and the thing Bertram hated most: Fish. The glasses get stuck on his head and he cant get them off. He knows that the glasses need energy to make his wishes come true, so he goes into his garage, which is very cold. He knows not to think, for anything he thinks, not just says will come true. Thats what happened to Kevin Midas.

Mindquakes: A book that can scare you yet make you laugh
I love this book. It is unpredictable and interesting. Mindquakes is actually a lot of short stories. In it there is a story about a Soul Exchange, an Evil Christmas Tree, etc. The author, Neil Shusterman does a great job of using similes and metaphor. He also covers a lot of different subjects. This book is the best.

Small Stories.... Awsome Factors
This really isn't a book. It has multiple stories in it. To be exact theres 11. All of them are exciting and i couldn't put it down! Heres an example From CALEB'S COLORS

( You wish To touch the painting? said Prax. It wasn't much a question as a statement of fact. you may do so....These paintings are meant to be touched.I reached out to touch one of those redder than leaves velvet texture... and when i drew my hand away, i was holding the leaf between my fingers! I gasped and let the leaf flutter to the ground. Prax smiled. The task of the artist. He said is the creation of worlds. Very few succed. Many die trying.)That was only half a page of that storie. See how exciting it was? There you have it get this book!

Alfred Hitchcock
Neal Shusterman is the Alfred Hitchcock of the nineties. I love his suprise endings. You never know what is next!

Full Tilt delivers suspense.
As in The Dark Side of Nowhere and Downsiders, Shusterman reels readers in with the first line. "It began the night we died on the Kamikaze," we read, and are immediately caught up in this fast-moving, thought-provoking book. Shusterman's characters are real, his plots unique and filled with suspense, and Full Tilt delivers on all counts. Don't miss this tense page turner.

I liked it and it was a great adventure.
Scorpion Shards was a great book. Everyone found their true selves at the end.

The best book I have ever read
I think that "Scorpion Shards" and the Star-Shards trilogy is the best ever. I began to read it in my 7th grade year since my 6th grade techer told me to read books by Shusterman because she thought that I might like it. Scorpion shards is just awesome..It has an incrdible plot and make you want to keep going and when u stop reading it.. u still think about it.. Just getting through half of Scorpion Shards I wanted to read the whole trilogy.

The Best Book I Ever read
This is one of my all time favorite books. I like this book because, of all of the characters. The characters are very unique. Dillon is a crazy power hungry psycho who causes chaos where ever he goes. All the shards have powers that make them different from every day human.
The shards have powers of that can be used for good and if they desire evil. The shards are controlled by these parasites that make the story interesting. It keeps you interested by an enthralling story line that makes you have to read the next book. I like this book because the battle of good and evil and the chance that all the people in the worlds minds can be shattered if the goods shards don't stop the evil psycho in time.

The Shadow Club
Jared Mercer was a normal ninth grader at his junior high school. He followed all the rules, never cut class, and hung out with the "right" people. Almost everything worked out the way it was supposed to, and no one suspected he was unhappy about anything. But he had one problem. Since he could remember, he was always second best at the one thing he was truly good at--running. In fact, the only person that he could not beat was Austin Pace, a casual friend who took pride in belittling all of Jared's efforts. Although it first begins as an annoyance, the constant rivalry becomes unbearable for Jared. When his close friend Cheryl proposes that they form a club for all their classmates who are second best at something, Jared agrees and suggests that they play harmless tricks on everyone else's rivals. At first this proves to be a safe and satisfactory way to air their feelings and get revenge, but the Shadow Club soon realizes that if they don't want to be caught, they have to stop their pranks for a while.
The only problem is, the Shadow Club had already been observed, and the outsider who's been watching them has started to talk. So when more dangerous pranks are being pulled on their enemies, everyone thinks that the Shadow Club, which is now believed to be a gang, is to blame. They become so enraged at being framed, that they nearly kill their main suspect, the boy who spied on them. But in order to find the true culprit, they have to admit that what they've done is wrong and face the harsh reality of the truth.
The Shadow Club is a book that is easy to relate to. You can identify with the characters feelings and emotions as they struggle to understand what they really want, not just what they think they want. However, I suggest you find a time when you don't have many things planned before you read it, because once you start, you won't be able to put it down. It is a true suspense story that not only keeps you turning pages, but attaches you to the characters. I recommend it for ages 10 and up.

Shusterman at his best.
To start off this book is great.... It's Shusterman at his best. I haven't came across a bad Shusterman book yet. Anyways here's the story in a Nutshell. A 14-year-old boy named Jared and his friend Cheryl are sick of being second best at the things that they do best. These two people gather more and more people that are second best, they decide to form a club.... The Shadow Club. This club has a goal, the goal is to make the people who are best pay, to make there lives a living hell, and play practical jokes and pranks on them. At first the club seems like a joke, they have meetings to plot there next practical jokes, they hang out etc., but.... one day a prank goes to far and people start getting seriously hurt, by the end of the book you find out that...... Wait now If I gave away the ending it would be pointless to read, wouldn't it? Anyways to find out what goes wrong and how the book ends, go buy it, borrow it, I don't care as long as you read it I'll be happy. (*****(5) out of *****(5) stars)

(More books by shusterman: The Dark Side of Nowhere, The Shadow Club: Rising, Downsiders )

Beat the "Unbeatables"
The Shadow Club is about a group of second-best kids. They are always trying to beat the "Unbeatables", the kids who always win. They form a group and begin to pull pranks. They are harmless at first, then become reckless when they find out someone is trying to frame them.

The book is really great because it concentrates on things that really happen in Jr. High and High School. It proves that some people will do whatever it takes to win, but in the end they turn out to be no better than the people they were trying to beat.

A Decision to Change a Life
This book was one of the best books that i have ever read. And trust me i have read a lot of books. This book was a very different story. It dealed with many serious issues and the story of a family being torn apart but the remains being held together by nothig but love. In this story a young boy has something every child loves dearly taken away from him, his mother. But not by any old stranger, but rather by his own father. In the trial his father is found guilty of murder, and serves his jail sententence. But after his father finishes his sentence the unthinkable happenes, the father moves in with the mothers parents, the temporary home of all of the survivors of this tragity. In other words there two sons. And amazingly the Oldest child ends up forgiving the father. They have an interesting relationship, but he still forgives him. This very unpredictable book has something that just gets to you in the end.

An Average Follow-up
The first book in the trilogy, Scorpion Shards, was a much better book than this. Although the story of The Bringer is well thought out, the oringal book held more feeling and character development. This reads more like an addition on to the first book, a psuedo-sequel of sorts, rather than a true sequel.

The Reciew
Theif of Souls is one of the best books I have ever read. The beginning of the book throws a whole new twist on the theory of Greek Mythology when we are first introduced to the Bringer. I read this book in less than two weeks, normally it would take me three or four months to read a book this size. The book truly is an amazing story and I would definitely recommend it to anybody, because this book would be interesting to just about anybody.

A fantastic sequel to a fantastic book
This second book in the Star Shards trilogy, possibly even better than the first, continues the adventures of the five living shards (one died at the end of the first book) and adds great new characters to the mix. After returning home after the events of the first book, the shards find their lives very different, but they don't stay home long. The shrards must gather again to fight a new enemy, while at the same time they are moving farther apart. This book is highly captivating in a can't-stop-now-must-read-more sort of way. I highly recommend it and eagerly await the next book.
