Presidents As Candidates
Great insight from the most prolific writer in the most prolific Dunn (no e) family. Compelling, humorous, exuberent , stupendous, supercalafragilistic, expee, aladoucous....what else can I say. I feel as though I know the author. My only negative comment is that I wish there were more pictures...of Kathryn.

Amazing perspective and fills a "GAP" in Pres. Elections
I truly loved this book. it is a bargain at twice the price. Can't afford not to get this anthology on the public and private lives on presidents. Especially in an election year, you can not pass the opportunity to get behind the scenes and experience this first hand. After reading this, I felt like I almost grew up with the author. Excellente'!

This book is a must read for anyone interested in government
This book is a thoughtful and highly readable text about two thoughtful and deliberative members of the U.S. Senate. It would be very useful for any government class interested in learning how the system really works and interested in learning how two honorable men conduct their work.

This book was incredible!!!
This book is an excellent comparison of two very important men in American politics, a definite buy.

This book is not just super, it's super-duper. Super-duper!
Mr. Lamb's elegant expose of the sordid social and political lives of two U.S. senators deserves high praise. Who would've known that two of our country's most distinguished luminaries are afflicted by a neurotic obsession with cheese? Who would've suspected that two of the hottest stars on the contemporary political scene exhaust valuable office time smearing each other with various dips and sauces. Between you and me, they're partial to Hollandaise sauce, but that's all I'll say. I don't want to let any more cats out of the bag. There is, though, a final kitten that I will set free. Buy this book. Next to my collection of Charo biographies, it's about the neatest batch of words I could hope to come across. Ciao. Foofy McDougall

Critical & Fair Reassessment of Wildavsky
As editor, Dr. Steven Shull has compiled a handful of academic articles critically reassessing the original "Two Presidencies" thesis by Aaron Wildavsky. Along with various other scholars, Shull discusses the many difficulties with Wildavsky's 1966 analysis of presidential free-reign in foreign policy.

As the thesis has recieved much criticism of its historical period for analysis, Shull's scholars discuss the problems associated with the formulation of political theories during the early Cold War era. This was the period on which Wildavsky based his theory. Accordingly, Shull notes that his evaluation centered on the federal government during an international and militarily focused period when it would be much less likely to restrain presidential directorship than it might today. Appropriately then, Shull focuses much of the book's beginnings on the historical situations which led Wildavsky to--wrongly--make the absolute assumption of presidential supremacy in foreign policy initiatives. While Dr. Shull does recognize the utility and various strengths of the original thesis, his scholars continually reassert this new edition's main contention that Wildavsky was incorrect to assume that the presidency's domination in foreign policy would reign supreme over time.

Though not difficult to follow, the articles selected by Shull are geared more toward avid students of policy and government than for the occasional armchair scholar. In sum, this book provides an excellent foundation for research of the American Presidency and comprehensively evaluates the "Two Presidencies" thesis under a more modern historical context.

What a shame...
Only in American can someone have the ability to print such garbage. I was looking for a book that gave unbiased reporting, but this was trash.

What a shame.

Disgraceful
This book serves as a shining example of the constant race baiting that the poverty pimps have engaged in, and continue to engage in, over the last thirty years.

Refusing to document the reality of society by stating such profound premises as "white reality is different than black reality", this book is trash.

You would be better served by one of Thomas Sowell's works on race.

Informative Book for Reasonable People
Well-written and well documented book for those who are interested in the truth about Reagan's and Bush's civil rights records. This book also provides an informative history about the civil rights legislative records of past presidents.

Reading this book can help one understand why so many people are misinformed about civil rights and its objectives today, and why they need to be better informed about the actions of presidents and the effect of these actions.
