Intimacy and Type
What I find most fascinating is how we can change during the course of our lives. The section "Personal Growth as Individuation" particulary intrigued me, especially the following: "[Individuation is a developmental process] that requires you to start dealing with your less-preferred functions (or what you might call your less conscious side) by midlife...in order to become more integrated and whole...As you go through life you find it is more functional to be able to use all aspects of the self to maximize your ability to handle a variety of situations and people." As we nudge our less-preferred functions out of the shadows and into the light, we may discover that we have blossomed into fuller selves.

An absolute must have for any and all couples!
My wife and I recently ventured into marriage counseling after a separation. Our counselor gave us this book to borrow after about the fourth session and after we had completed a myers briggs test. It has been by far the best resource we've seen. Lightbulbs are going off with every turn of the page. You have to read this book.

A FASCINATING JOURNEY
I had the pleasure of a casual acquaintanceship with Mumaw in New York in the 40' and 50's. Always enticing, the narrative is impeccable, and the story itself one well worth telling. The prime student and then lover of Ted Shawn, Mumaw was enriched by the pairing, and when later in life after he had cut the umbilical chord with Shawn, though devastated by Shawn's treacherous behavior, could never bring himself to bring an end to the friendship.

Just like. Murrow's "See It Now", I felt like I was there.
Kudos to Jane Sherman. She brings dance history alive, with her vivid recreations. This book deserves a paperback printing, so that all dance enthusiasts, including dancers, can afford it. Not since Walter Terry has someone captured the wonder that was Denishawn.

Lots of cleaning fun
This book has quickly become a favorite at my house. I have a daycare and they love to watch the clothes spin. We have to make sure all the pieces are put away when finished; but, this book has been a lot of fun.

Not my cup of tea, but it may be yours
_Twice Upon a Time_ is a glib, sarcastic take on fairy tales. Yes, a few of the retellings are serious, but most of them are attempts at poking fun at the conventions of fairy tales. I like these sorts of stories when they are well done, but most of these stories seem to be groaners rather than side-splitters; farces whose main purpose seems to be dragging every single fairy tale cliche into every single story. I mean, seriously, does a detective story about Rumpelstiltskin, which was just getting interesting, really need Hansel and Gretel barging into the plot? Many of the stories are like this. Just throw the ten or so most famous fairy tales into a blender and see what comes out, and top it off with a forced wittiness. If you're looking for cheesy fairy tale humor, check this out. Otherwise, look up Datlow and Windling.

A good collection of fractured fairytales.
Twice upon a Time is an anthology of eighteen fractured fairytales. Taking off on such stories as sleeping beauty, the emperor's new clothes, and Jack and the beanstalk, these stories recast the stories in a new and often humorous form. My favor was True Love (or The Many Brides of Prince Charming), which is hilariously funny, showing that happily ever after isn't always in the cards for Prince Charming either.

Some of these stories are somewhat off-color, and inappropriate for small children. However, as these stories are not intended to teach uplifting stories, as the original fairytales are, I would recommend against using these stories for small children. That said, though, this book does contain a number of quite entertaining stories, and is a very good read.

Loved it!
This is definatly a great fairy tales book...with a bit of a twist. Okay, more than a bit, but who's counting? My favorite stories: True Love and The Constant Tin Soldier. Although I must say, despite what they say, this book is not for nine year olds. Let's rule out 10 and 11 year olds too. 12 year olds, I think they can handel it. Some of this book is quite, shall we say...vulgar, but I think they should be able to handle it. Over all it's a great book especially if you're looking for a good laugh.

Trouble Storing the Pieces!
This book is very cute and my 2 year old nephew enjoyed putting the correct matching pieces into the book. Unfortunatley, the plastic compartment that is meant to hold the pieces is just not big enough to close once all of the pieces are in! It was taped shut when we got it and tape is the only way to keep it closed. If only they had given an extra couple of centimeters of space, we could be assured that the pieces wouldn't get lost so quickly. As it is, no matter how we try to arrange the pices, we can't get the compartment to stay closed. Those pieces will be lost soon (if they aren't lost already).
