The Odyssey of a Fat Women`s Arrival!
This book has changed my life. It was so clear and funny that I just had to laugh as well as cry. For over twenty years I have struggled with the fat issue. I had been very slim until pregnancy and ill health had helped me pile on over 60lbs. Of course my cravings for the 3 C`s had contributed: crisps, cakes and chocolates!! Charlie`s book shed( sorry for the pun!) an overwhelming truth about the eating patterns I had developed over a long number of years.

His pithy comments and his spiritual insights were something to take on board. And I did! I have now reached the magic figure in the BMI index which means that, for the first time in over twenty years, I am no longer overweight. I have lost 55 lbs this past year and 31lbs the previous year. It has taken this length of time to reach my goal. I give my thanks to God and Charlie W. Shedd.

I was a born again Christian before I read this book and I felt that my God had directed me to the place of commitment that Charlie speaks of. There were solutions and direction ,which together with his own personal story ,I identified with. I trust that others who have had problems with fat in the same way I have had read this book. The only failure is in not trying. Thank you Charlie W. Shedd.

A Wonderful Resource
My fiancé and I are using this book in our pre-marital counseling, and it has been great. The advice given is not only practical, but sometimes it hits on things that we wouldn't have thought to think through. This is a must read for those getting married, or who are already married. Don't miss it.

Remember, I Love You : Martha's Story
I have had this book for probably almost ten years. It's my favorite and a favorite gift for weddings. It's a lovingly written account by Rev. Charlie Shedd of the life of his wife and the "Fun in Marriage" workshops they did together. You finish this book wishing you had personally known Martha, knowing your life would have been a bit better and a bit sweeter for it. Each time I read this book I walk away with something new to apply to my life and there are parts I repeat to myself occasionally. No other book has even touched me this way.

Common sense answers to everyday problems
I ran across this book at the local high school where one of the teachers was using it as a text book for his class. It has been successful in helping the students there in dealing with their own problems. It offers concrete guidlines to use in discussing problems and difficulties that challenge young people today. The book discusses the struggle life can sometimes be and offers suggestions to help the reader identify the problem, think it through, and solve it. The 10 chapters are written by different authors giving each chapter a fresh perspective. My favorite was Chapter 1 by the comedian Bill Cosby. He used a humorous approach to present his solutions to the problems presented. If you like the "Chicken Soup" books you will like this one. I suggest you not only read this book, but keep it in mind as a gift.

Heartwarming tales of childhood encounters with "angels"
Looking for a feel-good "lift" in your day? This book more than fills the bill with dozens of stories of people who experienced an unseen helping hand at crucial times in their childhood.

While the author does not claim to have actually encountered an angel firsthand, he attributes these childhood interventions to "God's messengers of love and light" -- the unseen realm of angels. A pleasant diversion for adults and children alike

A WONDERFUL book!
A wonderful book by a wonderful person! Charlie Shedd is a great author and a very loving human being. His books will warm your heart. When I met him it was like I had known him my entire life.

Letters to Who?
Are you in the beginning stages of getting married or even engaged? Well if so, this book might just be for you. Some who read "Letters to Karen" say it is a little too old fashioned for them, but call me old fashioned because I happen to like it. In his book, Dr. Charles Shedd explains to his daughter in letters before she is married tips and hints that will ensure her a successful marriage for the future. I don't believe Dr. Shedd's ideas are wrong, it's just that in many ways they have been forgotten. I enjoyed his book because in a world like today that has eliminated all moral standards, I was able to find encouragement and hope that someone still believes in the same beliefs as I do. I am grateful for that, and if you are searching for ways to better equip yourself for marriage, then buy this book right now and read it. It will present you with successful guidelines to help in your future marriage. I believe with the knowledge Dr. Shedd has shared with me through his book, that I will definitely be a better wife to my husband and I hope that you will too.

Holiness and Submissiveness at it's best
Letters to Karen was an incredibly insightful and adorable book. I loved the aspect of a father writing to his daughter to give her sound advice for marriage based upon the Word of God. His letters are often comical and other times very serious. Every engaged couple should read these books if they want to learn how to be better spouses for one another. I would definitely recommend this book to any girl or even any guy. Dr. Shedd is a wonderful man with extremely good advice for all those looking into marriage. I learned quite a bit on what it means to be a good wife and mother and just how hard and rewarding of a job it can be. God has definitely used Dr. Shedd to reach others on being a woman of God. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will definitely be reading it again before I get married!!

Daddy's Little Girl
Letters to Karen is a beautiful collection of letters from a father to his engaged daughter. Dr. Shedd gives some serious advice to his daughter but also lightens his letters with some comical advice. His words give wonderful insight into the mystery of marriage and how to deal with it all. This is an excellent book for anyone contemplating marriage. There is definitely some sound advice in here, much of it being based on the Word of God. Marriage can be a really scary time and I think it's awesome that this father cared enough for his daughter to start her off on the right foot. I truly enjoyed this book and am excited to read Dr. Shedd's other book, Letters to Philip. I recommend Letters to Karen for anyone who wants to know a little bit more about marriage, male or female. Personally, I will be reading this book again before I get married!

I thought "Letters to Philip" was pretty good! I learned many things from this book. One thing that definitely stuck out to me when I read this book was that as much as I think I know about how to treat a woman, I really am clueless! I am only 17 and deal with feelings I have for women. I don't believe that I am ready yet for a relationship that this book describes, but I know that if I wait until I am ready, God will bless me tremendously. I don't think dating is wrong, but I do believe it can be dangerous. I plan on marrying one person in my life and that is it. This book reminds me that I need a lot of work and helps me to realize the things I need to work on and the things I am already doing correctly. I believe that along the journey in finding my wife I will fall short several times and make mistakes, but thanks to this book I know that I'm not ready and it gives really good ideas and answers the mystery about women that has been bugging me for long enough. Men and Women are destined to be together so there is more reason to find out about each other and eventually live together in peace knowing our spouses thoughts, actions, emotions, and style of living. Who will my wife be and how will I treat her? All I know is that whoever is fortunate to marry me will definitely enjoy the security in knowing that I will treat her like a Queen!!!

Letters to Philip
Letters to Philip is a very good book because it explains how to treat a women. It gives some very good advice for any guy who is either dating or going to get married. It gives suggestions and helpful tips on how to get through diffucult times and how to avoid them before they happen. It also gives great advice on being considerate and how to listen to your partner. It gives suggestions to help have better communication in the relationship as well. This book is good because it is not to hard to read and makes the person think about very important issues. The Dad in the book gives great advice to his son from personal experiences. I recommend this book to any teenage boys and men thinking about getting married.

Letters to Philip
Letters to Philip was written a long time ago, however I found it to be very applicable in my life. Shedd shares his views on many different topics of marriage. I would recommend this book to young men who are looking for advice in any relationship they are in. It gives practical advice on courtship to marriage. Being a young man myself it taught me to treat women with more respect. It taught me about women's feelings and what they expect from their man. If you are a young christian man that is currently dating, engaged, or married this is a must read! Sure it was written in the 1960's but it definitely contains some good advice. The book is old fashioned, but then again the way our society is today I wouldn't mind going back to the old ways when it comes to treating girls the right way.

good but not excellent
I prefer books about reallife angel experiences, which is what I expected. This, insteaad,is about the ways God works in Charlie Shedd's life day by day.Its nice and all,but if you are into even more miraculous stories you might pick something different.

Excellent! Angels led me to this book!
I PURCHASED THIS BOOK AS A GIFT FOR A FRIEND AND WAS DRAWN TO READING IT. I COULD NOT PUT THIS BOOK DOWN. I HAD MY OWN "ANGEL EXPERIENCE" READING "BRUSH OF AN ANGELS WING". I WOULD RECCOMMEND FOR EVERYONE TO READ BELIEVER OR NOT!

An absolute angel himself...
Charlie Shedd proves to through his own life story that angels not only exist but they are here to aid us through our lifes' journeys. A must read. I pick it up quite frequently to re-read.

What men need to know
Letters to Philip was an excellent book. I don't just recommend this book for men, but also for women. When I read the book, I learned so much about how my future husband needs to act. He needs to share his emotions, show that he cares about me and my feelings, show that he is willing to compromise and show that he loves me. This book tells all the ways that he should treat me. This book also shows all the ways that he should not treat me.

Every chapter is a letter to Philip from his dad giving him lessons on how to be the best husband he can be. The book explains women's feelings and thoughts completely. After reading this book, I decided to have my boyfriend read it. I want to be treated right and respected by the man I love. Men who want to honor the Lord will treat a woman the way she should be treated. All women should look for men with godly characteristics, so I encourage everyone to go out and buy this book.
