Courage Unparalled
Nancy Rexin Evans did a wonderful job in this telling story of her Mother's courage. How brave Cecelia was in saving lives at the risk of losing her own, her strength was amazing, to face death every day and evil , an evil we all wish and hope to never see again, is her testament OF courage. I am of German heritage and it makes me sad to think how horrible all of these people were treated. If not for the love and courage of this brave woman, an entire generation and culture would have disappeared from the face of the earth forever. God Bless you Cecelia, up in Heaven and God Bless your daughter, Nancy, for having the courage to re-live this story so we all may learn a valuable lesson.

Made me think twice about life and the way we look at it.
My name is Lacey and I am sixteen years old. I just finished reading "Testament to Courage" by Cecelia Rexin, translated by her daughter, Nancy Rexin Evans. Being partially of German descent, I felt a kinship with Cecelia and her strength as with my grandmother, but at the same time ashamed of how people could act like that, being of the same heritage, that could be so evil incarnate and have no regard for human life.       As I was reading this I tried to compare my world with Cecelia's, but nothing could compare. We live in a world today where we can go run to the store for soap, milk, bread, anything your money can buy, go to sleep whenever we want, have decent shoes, socks, clothing, toiletry items and much more. All the while Cecelia worked her hands to the bone, with no food, water and hardly any clothing to save not only her life, but others too. As she described what they wore, where and how they slept, what they didn't eat , it made me feel selfish of what I have and all the petty things I fight amoungest my siblings and others about.               As I was reading one night, I had just gotten home from a friends house and I had gotten something to eat, it was towards the end of the book where things got real bad and 2,000 people are crammed in a box with nothing to eat, drink, and no way to bathe and barely had a restroom ( actually it was a bucket ). I got so sick to my stomach. I stopped eating and started crying, as I felt so bad for these people. I felt as if this was partially my fault being from their descent, but it is not. We take life for granted when "Life" is all that some of these people wanted.

A moving and inspirational account of human courage
I found the memoirs of Cecilia Rexin to be incredibly moving and inspirational. It is heartwarming to read of the depth of soul, conscience and human dignity that can prevail even in the face of unspeakable evil and horror. It is a must for good people of all faiths and creeds.

Painting the Black
In the book "Painting the Black", Ryan Ward is a senior in high school. he had a love to play baseball until he broke his ankle. That all changed when Josh Daniels moved in the street. Ryan found that love for basball again. They started playing around down at the Community Center on the baseball diamonds. Then football season came around and Josh was going to try out for the team. Josh made the team and didn't want to throw the baseball around. He wanted to throw the football around cince he was the back up Quarterback. That was bad for Ryan because Ryan had just decided to tryout for the baseball team as a cather. Ryan needed all the practice he could get if he wanted to make the team. Josh was the star, when the starting Quater back was injured in the first game. Then, josh got in trouble at school for lifting a girls shirt up. His ponisment was he wasn't allowed to play in the next football game. That was the game that would allow them to go to state.I think this is one of the best books i have ever read. I recomend this book to any body that likes any kind of sport. Anybody would like this book.

What a giggle!
Being a fan of "Sheep In A Jeep" and all its sequels, I waited impatiently for "Raccoon Tune". It was well worth the wait! I read this one often as a bedtime story and my children (aged 10 and 6) are giggling every time. Of course Mom is right there in the thick of it too! The illustrations really make this book! I'll use this one at the Nature Center where I work with my Preschool Storytime crowd - they'll love it!

A kid pleaser
Catchy rythm, rhymes, cute pictures and funny situations all help to makes these books true kid pleasers. My three year old son has enjoyed all of the Sheep by Shaw books we have in our library.

They are easy to read over and over because they have a catchy rythm that makes it easy to read and enjoy over and over. In fact, because they are so catchy and the rhymes are so easy to remember, I often hear my son 'reading' the book using the pictures as cues. Very nice.

Enjoy.

Rhyming, glorious rhyming...
My mom and I have a theory: childrens books that rhyme are automatically double the price of those that don't! Not that we mind paying for wonderful books like this one, but there are just so many childrens books out there that aren't that fun or interesting. Enter, Sheep in a Jeep! We absolutely love this book. My son is 7 months old and he already loves the cadence. It's fun, cute and creative! I would highly recommend this book for babies and toddlers. They can chew and suck on the pages and the pages are the thick kind so they can turn the pages themselves - which my son already loves to do. The drawings are great. You won't regret your purchase!

Fun for parents, too
With a very young baby, you just want to convey that reading is fun. .... Fortunately, there's Sheep in a Jeep! This book is a kick. We have a big stack of books that we read to our daughter, but Sheep in a Jeep has a special place. The rhymes are entertaining, the story is amusing, and there's nothing condescending or cutesy about it. We've read it dozens of times and we still love it.

Sheep can be pretty entertaining
This is a good choice for a toddler or preschooler who can't sit still for very long. My 1 yo son likes the sound of the words as he jogs back and forth over my lap. I like the illustrations; sheep with big pink faces are kinda cute. It's a good very early reader book since it rhymes and there are some repeating words.

It's nice to give a model of a hiking group who gets lost and comes out of it ok, for those beginning hikers who worry about that.

Sheep Take a Hike
This is another of the fantastic "Sheep" Books by Nancy Shaw. In this adventure the sheep go for a hike in the woods, lose the trail and then get lost. Do they find their way out of the forest? I love their surprising ending. I have loved following the five sheep and their seagull friend through their adventures. Young children who read with me love to look for the seagull, to spot the sheep with the knitting, and to find the rhymes on every page. The books are easy reading for the newest readers, with beautiful pictures on every page.

Good book
The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is that my husband and duaghters don't seem to like it as much as Sheep in a Jeep. I found it charming, well illustrated and well told.

I was disappointed that it was a paperback and not a board book. I might not have bought it if I had realized that because my daughters are a bit rough on books.

to thine own self be true
This is probably my #2 pick of the Shaw/Apple sheep series (Sheep in a Jeep is my clear #1 pick, and that of most of the toddlers I know.)

This one has the most apparent message, which is both a positive (because I like the message) and a distraction from the silly fun of the sheep.

It's definitely worth geeting and reading mre than one of the sheep books, in part so you can learn the distinct personalities of the various sheep.

LIKE SHEEP IN A CHINA SHOP
I love those funny sheep and the clever illustrations that accompany their humorous verse. This time, the jeep loving joy riding sheep are back in a tea shop and that tea shop will never be the same!

The verse is one all ages will appreciate. The story moves along fast enough to maintain the interest of pre-schoolers. The adorable sheep and the very funny story will certainly delight all readers.

Cute books about sheep
I love these "Sheep" books by Nancy Shaw. They are cute and funny. I read them to my 7 month old.

great for language development
I enjoy all the "sheep" books by this author. I am a new mom of a 2 month old. I am also an early childhood teacher. I think her sheep books are funny and great for learning inital consonants and blend. My little one watches my mouth when I read the books...I can tell he likes it.

Wonderful!
My sister-in-law bought this book for my daughter because her sons liked it so much. My daughter loves it too. At age 22 months, this is her favourite bedtime book. She will hunt for it rather than have me read another book. She is beginning to like "Sheep go out to Eat" almost as much. (She calls it "Sheep Soup".) She does not seem terribly interested so far in "Sheep in a Jeep". She gets very excited every time we get to the bit where the stack of beach balls falls down, shouting "Uh oh!", and she understands that the story is about shopping for a birthday present because she will sing "Happy Birthday" if she is turning the pages on her own.

Baaaaad Book
I guess I just don't get the whole "Sheep" phenomenon. My child received three sheep books from an aunt who thought they were hysterical. I don't get it. I didn't find them to be cute or clever at all. In fact, I thought they were incredibly stupid and a complete waste of time. My son wasn't impressed either.

What will we do with thoes sheep?
The sheep are back in their second full-length book! This time they're in a ship. A bad storm catches them by surprise, "Decks tip. Sheep Slide. Sheep collide. Winds whip. Sails rip." That is just a taste of the book. If you like Sheep in a jeep, you're going to love, Sheep in a Ship!

Fun for kids who love pirates
Pirate sheep who lose their boat in a storm manage to make a raft out of the ship and sail away. My 3 year old is always concerned that the sheep are all right. While this book is not as funny as Sheep in a Jeep, my son asks to have this book read to him again and again. The Sheep books are a treasure. The rhymes and alliteration combined with terrific illustrations make this book a wonderful addition to any child's bookshelf. Highly recommended.
