What a giggle!
Being a fan of "Sheep In A Jeep" and all its sequels, I waited impatiently for "Raccoon Tune". It was well worth the wait! I read this one often as a bedtime story and my children (aged 10 and 6) are giggling every time. Of course Mom is right there in the thick of it too! The illustrations really make this book! I'll use this one at the Nature Center where I work with my Preschool Storytime crowd - they'll love it!

We encourage you to become an active participant on the Internet. We believe that by providing you with this service, by helping you easily get the information that is most improtant to you, we free you up to engage in the exciting and creative opportunities offered by the Internet, instead of being bogged down in the time-consuming chores of hunting and downloading.

Remember, much of the value of having public-domain texts on computer disk comes from the ability to copy them. For example, those of you who are teachers can: 1) use a disk as a substitute textbook -- have all your students bring in their own blank disks and make copies at your computer center or library; 2) take texts from several disks and make your own anthology, as easily as you might make a "mix" of your favorite music.

Remember that the disks you buy and the anthologies you compile also benefit the rest of your department, who in turn can do what they want with their copies. And remember that you can reuse these texts in the same manner for years to come.

The pioneer life of the suffragete Anna Howard Shaw
Anna Howard Shaw found her life's work when she embraced the cause of women's rights, especially the struggle to win the right to vote. History remembers her as a colleague of the leading suffragette, Susan B. Anthony; in fact, Shaw became president of the National American Woman Suffrage Movement after Anthony's death. However, in "A Voice From the Wilderness" author and illustrator Don Brown focuses on the early part of Anna's life, when her family emigrated to America. In his Author's Note at the end of the book, Brown covers many Anna's accomplishments, few of which are hinted at in this story. Actually, "A Voice From the Wilderness," which is based on Anna's biography, "The Story of a Pioneer," has much more to do with the hard struggle for Anna's family to live on the frontier (in this case Michigan during the Civil War), than it does with the political struggle for equal rights for women. Ironically, the efforts that made Anna Howard Shaw famous are something of a footnote to the story Brown tells. This book is illustrated with pen and watercolor illustrations where the facial exprssions are simplistic but the wash of colors is quite impressive; I especially liked the picture of Anna's mother's reaction to their new home in Michigan, with its beautiful blend of blues and purples. "A Voice from the Wilderness" works either as an introduction to the life of a suffragete or as an example of pioneer life; I would argue the latter is the stronger tack to take in terms of recommending this book to young readers.

Again, Brown tells history with expression and accuracy
This book reads smoothly and the illustrations are beautiful. The illustrations add to the text. They are riveting. As I read this story, I felt as if I was "Anna" as she travelled through her journey. The author note at the end was beneficial and children have the opportunity to locate additional information on Anna Howard Shaw.
Anna, the protagonist empowers children to feel they can make a difference in our country.

Good stuff....
A nice collection of artists, with some great examples of what they can do. But....
Paper stock is poor and some prints are a bit blurry.

Look at it Regularly!
This is a great artbook, featuring many famous furry artists. I love the art, and look at it regularly. If you're a fan of Michele Light, I recommend it.

The best book in the world.
This book started my physical collection of furry publishings, and still remains the best singal pice I have. Not only is it perfectaly published, but contains excellent examples of anthropomorphic artwork. Its my personal bible.
