For anyone trying to make sense out of the recent tragedies (Sept. 11) and challenges facing Americans, Dr. Sharabi's presentation of the course of U.S. foreign policy and involvement in the Middle East, and of the development of the conflict there, provides insight into how and why that conflict is affecting Americans today. What's amazing is that the book was first published in 1969 and is still relevant today as the wisdom of retrospect unfolds....

Dr. Sharabi's book is well organized with each chapter discussing a different part of the complex Mid East situation. Readers with little or no familiarity in Middle East issues will find chapters One, Two, Seven, and Eight to be the most useful. Chapter One gives an overview of the 'players' and the pressures put on American leadership, as well as on our parents and grandparents, to coerce them into complying with a Zionist agenda. Chapter Two describes how U.S. foreign policy was changed and shaped over time. The Arab view of John F. Kennedy is shockingly enlightening! Chapters Seven and Eight relate the conditions out of which the P.L.O., Fateh, and other organizations we frequently hear and read about in the media, were formed.

"Palestine and Israel" is a thought provoking book which offers a valuable contribution to our interpretation of past events in American and World history. By understanding our nation's past history in the Middle East, Americans will be better able to make informed decisions about our nation's future.
