I Grew Up with This!
This is funny stuff. I grew up with this and its good to see this stuff in print. It's great reading. It's a real goof when you've got your head in this book laughing it off and you know you are getting some strange looks. This I've got to laugh twice at!

Jews have never made me laugh this much.
Hey, I'm no Jew. But, I wish I were. This is some REALLY funny stuff. I'd honestly give my left arm to be able to read this book every day of my GOD-given life. I'm laughing right now just thinking about this great Jewish humor.

hilarious!
Sure, sure, you've heard 'em before -- but who cares! They're classic jokes, and Kohl's cartoons are alone worth the price of the book. This book will cover most of my Hanukkah gifts this year!

Top quality comedy to be read over and over
I wasnt sure of a book made up purely of scripts but this is great. It brings back great episodes and classic conversations ( Kramer and his levels). A definitive seinfeld publication and a great book for the coffee table or bathroom to re read over and over. Easily worth the price Top class.

Great memories
Cannot help but reminisce about those classic early episodes. Really fun to drop on the couch after a long day and read through the old scripts. If you are a Seinfeld fan, you will love to have this book.

This book is on the bookshelf in our living room with 100 other books, lots of great novels and coffee table books, but enevitably this is the book that almost EVERYONE grabs. At minimum gets a big smile, usually gets a good laugh.

Highly recommended.

Seinfeld secret? Great WRITING=Great Comedy
Here's the book that partly answers why Seinfeld (and I Love Lucy and All in the Family and Married With Children and The Simpsons) is so funny: Great sit-com comedy doesn't just happen because you get a talented performer. It also depends HEAVILY on the writing guiding the performance.

Any Seinfed fan (or student or lover of comedy) MUST own this book. My only regret is that it only gives you scripts for the first and second seasons (which, actually, many consider among the best). It shows you the solid comedic, consistently witty, and highly ironic foundations behind the cast's classic performances.

The good news: this book READS funny. Unless you just don't like reading drama/comedy in script form, you'll howl almost as much (since you are missing actual facial expressions, timing and body language) as you read these. Quite a few of these episodes were written by Seinfeld and collaborator (who how has a critically acclaimed HBO comedy series) Larry David. The many episodes include "The Jacket," "The Pony Remark," "The Deal," "The Chinese Restaurant," (one of my favorites) and "The Revenge."

According to published accounts, Seinfeld and David were absolutely adamant that there would be "no hugging" on THEIR show and that they would do the show their way or not do the show at all. They stuck to their guns. This book contains highly original sitcom comedy which holds up exceedingly well in script form. Keep the importance of solid writing in mind as you see former cast members from his show (or even Jerry himself or former cast members of other big hits) try to clone their earlier success: without a solid comedic foundation -- which is funny on paper -- all the talent in the world won't create a hit sitcom.

More letters, more laughs
What a happy surprise to find "More Letters From a Nut" among the new releases in a local bookstore. I bought a copy, read it that night, and it tickled me as much as did the first collection of Ted Nancy's farcical letters. (The wedding chapel and Hungry Mosquito letters and responses were a real hoot, to name just two). This is a great book to give as a gift, as was the first "Letters," and to just pick up and refer to now and then for a quick laugh. Another fun read from the inventive, witty, off-the-wall mind of Ted Nancy...whoever he is.Marian_

Absolutely Hilarious
Someone I gave this book to called to tell me that until reading "More Letters From A Nut" he had forgotten how to laugh this hard. This book (with contributions from Jerry Seinfeld - some people claim Seinfeld and Ted L. Nancy are one and the same) had me laughing out loud, too. These letters give a new definition to Domestic Terrorism.

I roared! I cried! I squeaked!
This was just as funny as the first "Letters from a Nut," even though Ted can't top Don Novello, aka Laszlo Toth. My favorites are the letter to a hotel chain repeatedly demanding the "respect due me," and the one warning the hotel owners about the uncontrollable bedding-eating urge. I also liked the Fat Beatle. But nothing can top the Pip the Mighty Squeak letter in the first collection! Ted, how about an "Emails From a Nut" collection? That way, you could treat us to a new book every two months....

Not enough,
I read SeinLanguage a few years after the show was over. I was a big fan of Seinfeld and I often watch the reruns. My following of Seinfeld eventually led me to tapes of his standup act.

After watching the show and listening to his standup act, reading SeinLanguage was a bit redundant. The reader will not find very much new material in this book. Most of the jokes come from his standup act, which inspired scenarios in the TV show.

The jokes are funny and I always laugh, but I picked up this book hoping for an insight into Jerry Seinfeld's life. All I found was a series of jokes about different topics, most of which I had already heard.

I think you can probably pass this one up.

This book will brighten up your face
I was living in Australia for a while where Seinfeld was on every weekday. When I returned home, I was very disappointed that it had been dubbed here which makes it unwatchable. As I had a feeling that I needed a substitute drug, I bought this book. Honestly, I thought there is no such thing as an entirely funny book. But I was wrong. This book really is pure Seinfun. You gotta own it. He points out the nothings of life to you in a mind-bogglingly subtle way. Beware! If you read this book several times, you might get wrinkles from laughing. If you don't laugh reading this book, you should ask yourself which planet you came from. It can't be earth. Buy it! It's good for you.

If you've seen the shows, you've heard it all before...
...but that doesn't make it any less hilarious or TRUE! These are Jerry Seinfeld's observations about life including things both big and small. His views are extremely funny such as on homophobia: "guys are a little afraid of homosexuals because they know that if they by accident went into a gay store that they could be talked into anything." Most of the observations will serve as repeated information for anyone who has seen every episode of Seinfeld. Many of the quips in this book turned into the monologues in the beginning of each Seinfeld episode. Nevertheless, this is a quick and fun read that will never be outdated because of it's extremely funny subject matter. JERRY, PLEASE RELEASE THE SHOWS ON DVD BY SEASON!! Recommended.

Fantastic!
I bought this book as a present for my husband who happens to be a major Seinfeld fan. The book was terrific! It has black and white photos of the casts last days on the set with their comments. This book is perfect for all heavy duty Seinfeld fans. Crys

If you are a Seinfeld fan... this is a MUST!
This is a great book... wonderful pictures! From "Hello Newman!" to watching Kramer run into Jerry's apartment, but from KRAMER'S side... These are all execellent pictures and excellent moments. Each of the cast members ideas and thoughts about the serious. Plus, you get pictures of EVERYONE, even Babu, Soup Nazi, Mr. Pit, the Constanzas, the Susan's parents, and many more...

A photojournalistic feast for Seinfeld fans
Seinoff (1998 Harperperennial Library, written by Jerry Seinfeld, Michael Richards, and David Hume Kennerly) A photojournalists dream; to be the only photographer on the set during the week of the Final episode taping. This was Kennerly's assignment, and he completed it extremely well, capturing some of the quiet/secret moments fans rarely, if ever, get a glimpse of. Cover to cover black and white photos of the cast and crew, the sets and props, and this is only half of the book. Along with the photos are some of the best, most sensitive, most revealing quotes from Jerry, Michael, Jason and Julia that have ever appeared in print. This is only the 2nd 'coffee table book' that's worthy to sit on my coffee table. (Kramer wrote the first one.)

BEYOND BELIEF
I picked up the latest Ted book at my local book shop and found it to be the funniest of the 3. I have been a side-splitting, teary-eyed, laugh-out-loud Ted fan for several years now and wish I could buy a patch for what this guy is able to do to me. My friends all love the book and we sat around reading the letters outloud for hours. Ted you are either a true genius, or someone I never want to meet. Great Job!

Read it on the can and laugh your a** off !
If this isn't the best bathroom book in the world, I don't know what is. You can read a couple of letters, then leave it for the next visit. It is painfully funny. You wonder: 1. How does "Ted" think these up? 2. What is the initial reaction of the recipient? 3. Does the person on the other end of the letter reply in serious or jocular spirit? 4. Is the Tonga Visitors Board preparing for Ted's visit?

God, it is funny! Great "guy" gift book.

Even More Letters For A Nut
The book Even More Letters For A Nut is a great and funny book. I would give it 5 stars!! It mad me laugh so much. I would read this book if you are the person who likes a good laugh. Its not a hard book to reda and its got lots of story's.

A Must Read for a Seinfeld fan
This book allocated sufficient chapters to cover issues that we needed & wanted to know about Seinfeld, the person & Seinfeld, the show. It's interesting to read about the backgrounds & humble beginnings of the 'family' members of Seinfeld mainly Larry David, Michael Richards, Jason Alexander, Julia Louis Dreyfus. I was most interested to read how the team came up with the storylines for a show about nothing, of how they came out with characters such as George, Kramer, & Elaine (life imitated art, literally). We also read about how desperate NBC was to retain the Seinfeld team for more seasons towards the end, the pay rise negotations which sparked other actors & actresses from other NBC projects to follow suits, Jerry's romance with Shosanna, & so forth. The ending of the book stated that whilst Jerry was the king of his domain, his life remained a void...which would stay corrected considering that he has since married. Not to be missed. An exciting & user friendly read.

A must buy for a devoted Seinfeld Fan like myself
David Wild did an excelent job on this book. He gives a review of every single episode of Seinfeld up to Feb. 26, the episode where elaine thinks she is dating an African man, making it an interacial relationship. The book also has alot of trivia on the cast of characters. The book is covered with hillarious pictures of the episodes. It also has quotes from other comedians on Seinfeld like Dr. Katz and Jeff Foxworth. Excelent, excelent book.

The book that finally explains it!
Books about the show Seinfeld and Jerry Seinfeld have become something of a major industry in the United States since the show leap-frogged from it's cult status into a bigtime ratings hit. A lot of these books recounted episodes, offered bios of the actors and had lots of information about Seinfeld's private life. What was MISSING? A book that had a lot of this information but also put it into a comedic context -- into the context of who Jerry Seinfeld was, who he is and how and why his series had such innovative humor...humor that would define a generation. This book truly explains it. It's clear that Seinfeld and his collaborator Larry David had a concept for the anti-sitcom sitcom. They were willing for it never to be aired, rather than compromise on it. They did add cast members if the network wanted...but there was no "hugging" and topics were unusual and even the comic payoffs were different than on other shows. They weren't trying to be cutting edge, they were trying to execute their creative idea with integrity. They truly didn't compromise and that's why the series remains so unusual and consistently funny to this day. Stylistically, this is a good sized book but a very quick read due to the easy writing style. Quotes are used very skillully throughout. Of all the books I've read on Jerry Seinfeld and the show, this is the best...because it explains why this show is among television comedy's best.

Nostalgic fun
"Halloween" is a visual representation of Jerry Seinfeld's classic riff on the holiday. While this book doesn't really add to the monologue, it is a superb visual representation of it. The humor is typically dry, but it is also so earnest, and common, that one can't help but laugh. Who among us hasn't been brutalized by the smothering, plastic Halloween mask with the stupid elastic that keeps breaking? And the illustrations are just a riot; they are colorful, clever and perfectly illustrate the writing.

I would have to agree with some of the other reviewers that this isn't a book for children. Not because there is anything wrong with the language or themes, but because it too accurately portrays a child's point of view. A kid would read this and think, "Yeah, so?" because Seinfeld so perfectly represents their experience that they wouldn't appreciate the irony. As an adult, however, I have been revisiting my own Halloween conquests and catastrophes all day thanks to this wonderful book.

Enjoy!

Great for older kids and ANY Seinfeld fanatic.
This book is so typical Seinfeld that even as you read each page you can hear his whiny tone and exageration in each line. The accompanying CD is perfect to play along while you read, and the illustrations are on the money when it comes to capturing the essence of childhood "Halloween frustration." The cartoons look just like him! Jerry spoke to a generation on national television, making us laugh so hard we sometimes cried, and he continues to do so in syndication; now he tickles our funnybones in hardcover too, and our older kids will even enjoy the humor! He tells his own childhood story of how he suffered through horrible homemade costumes and cheezy cheap candy from the neighbors, and what a dream his Superman costume was until the dreaded rubber band on the darned mask snapped and got too tight. True stuff, very real and very funny! This is a must have for any Seinfeld fan.

Happy Halloween Newman...
Jerry Seinfeld's standup routine on halloween is one of my favorite pieces of art ever. It is truly art if you look at it, his entire career is an art form that takes such simple everyday stuff and makes it unbelievably funny. His work is nothing short of brilliant and Halloween captures that brilliance in a childrens book.

The book itself may be geared for children, at least it appears so, but I think that an older audience would benefit more from reading this. As i mentioned, I love his standup bit on halloween and seeing illustrations to go along with the words was something I felt was really unique and interesting. The pictures themselves were very playful and properly done, nothing too fancy but they fit the mood.

I think this book would make a unique addition to a childs library. For a young person, it would be a bit of an educational experience as well being humorous. I don't know how to support the educational statement exactly, I just think that in order for youngsters to get the most out of this book, they have to think differently about it than other books they are used to.

I think the general idea for Halloween by Jerry Seinfeld was for everyone to just enjoy the hell out of it. I guarantee that no matter what age you are, you can pick this book up, relate to it, smile a lot and just be happy you took my advice. No trick....this ones a real treat.

If you like Jerry Seinfeld, you'll probably hate this book..
What's up with this Mr. Oppenheimer, anyway. He frequently makes the point that Jerry Seinfeld achieved extraordinary success with a clean act, unlike other comedians of the time. He didn't use profanity in his comedy routines and I think that was a huge part of what made Jerry Seinfeld so great. (Not that he's not great still!)
This Mr. Oppenheimer, on the other hand, seems to think that the shock value of throwing in one disgusting word after another is worth the price of degrading his own name as an author.
I'm glad I didn't buy this book. The library shouldn't have either.

Lightbulbs
I bought this book for one reason and one reason only. I wanted to get the lowdown on the "lightbulb" story...

Jerry Seinfeld once sold lightbulbs over the phone. I wanted to know what this was all about. I knew he apologized for it years later. The book tells all. Jerry and his friend came up with a crazy con posing as injured war veterans. It was disgusting and offensive. According to the book, they would drop lightbulbs on the floor when on the phone and then cry about how hard it was getting used to their hooks. You see, they lost their hands in combat. See? I told you it was offensive.

This book is a little offensive. I'm not sure whether the author likes Seinfeld or not. He sure goes out of his way to serve us the dirt.

But I liked the book. Not a whole lot, but enough to reccomend it. Put it this way- I liked it more than I didn't like it.

Seinfeld is an immensely private man, which makes him a prime target for books like this. But this is more than tabloid fodder. It is focused. It told me things I din't know before and it's pretty well researched. That Jerry didn't cooperate, and asked others to do likewise, shows. But for what the author had to work with, he did a fair job.

It's All In There
This book had good, reliable sources, and Oppenheimer really did his homework in finding out about Mr. Seinfeld. If you need some info about Jerry, you'll find it here if you find it anywhere...Especially since this book is written from the interesting slant of somebody who may not be so fond of Seinfeld...

The only reason this book really gets a passing grade from me is that it's about Seinfeld's life...Seinfeld is a really interesting and quirky guy, so unless you try pretty hard to mess up whatever your writing about him, you'll end up with something interesting.

I don't really like Oppenheimer's style--was this book rushed into stores, or what? I counted about 15 typos, and some paragraphs were pointless and fluffy, while others condensed too much into such a small space.
