One of my favorites
This is the first book I read by Kathleen Gilles Seidel and I loved it so much that I have started buying every book she's ever written. This story is not only a wonderful romance about second chances but also an absorbing look at life in/with a rock band. Seidel's universe for her characters is so complete that she quotes newspaper articles about then and songs that they wrote. If you like intelligent romance novels and three-dimensional characters, you'll love Kathleen Seidel!

Real romance, Real plot: The Thinking Woman's Romance
I started reading KGS after purchasing Summer's End from Amazon. I have since purchased every book by her I could find, as she combines powerful and well-developed characters with a sensitive and touching story. Unlike many romance novelists, there is much more time spent on a realistic plot and plausible circumstances than hot and heavy bedroom scenes.

The author uses fictional journalism pieces interspersed throughout the story that add to the authenticity of the story. If you love romance but like a great story even better, then this is an excellent read.

Have all the stars fallen?
I never get tired of reading and re-reading Till The Stars Fall by Kathleen Gilles Seidel. I know I have read this book at least seven times and one question keeps coming to my mind. WHAT HAPPENED TO JERRY???? He was such a great charater in the story, and he just fell out of the story line. I know he had to for Krissa and Quinn to be reunited but couldn't Ms. Seidel write a sequal and focas on what became of Jerry? I know she would do an excellent job as she has with all her novels.

Unexpected surprise
I picked this book up at a discount bookstore as much because I like to read light-hearted fare for a change every once in a while, as for the fact that I needed something else to charge a minimum amount on my credit card. I mistakenly started reading it last evening. Big mistake. I got so engrossed in the story I could not put it down! I almost skipped dinner, and only finished it at 2 in the morning (and I would have to be up by 6!). The book tells the story of a group of friends who went to high school together, and the secrets revolving around a terrible accident that changed the course of their lives. Emily is a single successful woman who is almost hopeless she will get married and have children. Deciding not to wait anymore for Mr. Right, she buys her own house in the suburbs. Upon hearing a long-lost high school friend on the radio, she feels the need to contact her high school sweetheart, who had unexplicably left her twice in the past. Their deejay friend starts a popular series on his radio show about a group of high school kids who are more than based on Emily and her friends. Her former boyfriend, Jeff, and Emily try to reach out to their radio friend, who had all of a sudden disappeared before graduation, following a car accident that involved Emily, Jeff, and another friend who had been at the wheel, and had ever since been confined to a wheelchair. United again, each person has secrets that unravel during the course of the novel. Its cheesy cover should not lead you away -- there is no explicit love scenes, and this character-driven, well written plot will keep you asking for more.

Kathleen is the most underrated contemporary novelist today.
Kathleen Gilles Seidel is the most underrated contemporary novelist I know of, partly, perhaps, because she writes "romances", but even this does not explain it. Her characters are interesting and diverse and her feel for dialoge is outstanding. People change and grow, but only in believable ways. My husband likes them even!

Excellent Book
This book is an excellent book that has great character development, an entertaining plot, romance (without tons of graphic sex) and is a book I will read over and over again.

you'll read it again and again
Set in the interesting world of daytime soaps, this book feels real, the characters, the situations, the depth of feeling. Jenny Cotton is the author/producer of My Lady's Chamber who loves her job so much she can't bear to see it as 'work' and strives to recreate a family within her work environment (a common theme explored by KGS)

When a new actor arrives on set, the experienced but wary Alec Cameron, he challenges and changes the dynamics and things start to shift.

The clever weaving of a regency romance (the setting of the soap opera) and modern day television, the exotic world of TV and the reality of people's complex feelings, makes for a lovely novel. KGS writes beautifully as always, and I don't know why she is so underrated but if you can pick this book up, do, it is well worth it and a definite keeper.

Great characters
This is a wonderful story, with marvelous characters and a very unique "story within a story". "My Lady's Chamber", the Regency soap opera that is at the center of the story, would be a smash if it were real. As always, I fell completely in love with KGS's protagonists. Highly recommended

Miss America finds love
I love Kathleen Gilles Seidel and have read most of her books. For people who aren't sure if they have read this one or not, it's about Victoria (Tory) a 'failed' Miss America (third runner up) who has to figure out who she is if she's not a beauty queen. Of course she finds a wonderful man (this is a romance after all!) but she also resolves her relationship with her mother and creates new relationships with her extended family. That's why I love this author - she grounds her characters in real worlds, made beautiful by love. You really hate to finish her novels. If you come across this one, grab it, it's a keeper!

...

Marvellous
This is, without a doubt, the best romance I have ever read. Kathleen Gilles Seidel is a master at developing characters that feel real to the reader. I love everything that she has written, but this one stayed with me long after I read it the first (of many) times. Try to find it if you can

Absolutely wonderful
I've read and enjoyed every one of Kathleen Gilles Seidel's single title romances, and she just gets better and better. To say that she writes with enormous intelligence and wit hardly begins to describe the immense readability of Summer's End. She took a situation that would make me cringe in real life--two newly-connected families warily attempting to become acquainted with each other at a remote, primitive camp in Northern Minnesota--and made me love every minute of reading about it. Her characterizations are subtle and appealing, her relationships beautifully nuanced, and her romance between the two youngest adult children was absolutely believable. The precision of her writing makes everything come alive. For example, one of the main characters is a world class ice skater, and even though I couldn't cross a rink without falling flat on my face, I now feel as if I know what it must be like to be a champion skater. This is a book that should appeal to readers of women's fiction, romance, and those who just plain like good writing.

I hated to see it end!
I connected right away with Gwen and Hal and their children. One of the things I enjoyed was the fact that some of the story centered around Iowa City, Iowa and the university there. A place where we spent six wonderful years visiting our kids. But that aside, I could easily identify in some way with many of the characters. Every family has the dysfunctional Joyce, the overachieving Holly, the trying to prove herself Amy etc.

On those long summer nights in Minnesota, the reader could become a part of the Legend famiy. From getting the feel of sleeping there during a summer storm, sitting around the campfire, and the simple decor of the cabins, we in some way long to be a part of that simple no frills kind of vacation.

Jack and Amy, our two lovers, connected instantly, but for the sake of the family, put their emotions on hold. Their relationship is sweet and brief, but on that, they build a strong and sure love. While a fair amount of time is spent dealing with the problems of the other characters, the attraction of Jack and Amy is the main thrust of the book. I only wish that we had been let to experience more than their one brief, intimate encounter at the lake. Still though, maybe that innocence is what makes the book so special. In that one aspect, much is left to our recommendation.

I would for sure keep this book to read again, as well and look for other Seidel titles.

KSD-the most under-appreciated author of our times
I have been a heavy-duty Kathleen fan since the first book of hers I picked up. Imagine my excitement at finding a new one... and my chagrin at finding it had been out for months! I believe that Kathleen is one of the most satisfying authors currently writing. I find her characters to be interesting and consistant, and I find the growth the main characters always experience to be reasonable and believable. I just can't figure out why her publisher doesn't apparently make any push to sell her books to people who have never heard of her! Everyone I have ever lent her books to loved them, and this one is no exception.

Typical romance with heart
Any book by Kathleen Gilles Seidel should be on your "must-read" list if you love intelligent romance novels and three dimensional characters. While this book is not one of her best, it is very enjoyable and certainly of a better quality than most Harlequin novels.

Learning to Love
I love KGS so am happy to read anything she writes. This is a good but not great book. It is set in Boston, and is about two reserved, smart people, who fall into an affair, but then something happens, and in a moment that our hero doesn't quite understand, he deliberately takes a chance and ends up impregnating the heroine (sorry, I remember plots well, but not characters names!) But I liked what happens next, which is that the drastic change in their lives leads to changes in their personalities, that the woman grows through loving her child, and loving her man, and that their relationship and their lives become so much deeper and warmer.

Best Harlequin Romance
I've had this book for years and whenever I need a lovely romance, it's one of the books that I turn to. The story of how a young girl matures in the face if her chosen adversity and how the young man matures in different ways is just a joy to read. I also enjoyed the information on the state parks and outside canoeing adventure. Nice characterization of the other key roles as well.
