The Secret Life of Mary Anne Spier (Baby-Sitters Club, 114)
Published in Paperback by Apple (1997)

Excellent!
In the secret life of Mary Anne Spier sh spends so much on her father's credit card. Mr.Spier told Mary Anne that she would even have to pay interest just like he does.Mary Anne takes a job at the mall and meets this girl Angela and their family helped Angela by inviting them to stay for Christmas.

Cute holidays tale of GIVING
I liked it! Mary Anne's kind, tender heart gets her into trouble, but I admire how she takes responsibility for her mistake and willingly takes the elf job to pay for it! Also touching is how Mary Anne feels so sorry for Angela, the homeless girl, that she cries quietly under her elf head. Her tender heart is endearing; and her strong sense of responsibility is to be commended. It's hilarious how she goes to extremes to hide her secret job from her friends and boyfriend because she's so easily embarrassed!

The spirit of giving can be a really bad thing
Mary Anne gets to use her father's credit card to do her Christmas shopping! But she goes overboard buying her family and friends. And when her father tells her she has to pay interest to the credit card bill she gets a little worried so she adds the prices of the gift and it turns out she spent 3 TIMES the money she saves. So she has to earn a ton of money in only 2 WEEKS. She baby-sits and then she does something a tiny bit extreme.

I loved Mallory and the Mystery Diary!
Mallory and the Mystery Diary is about Mallory and Stacy thinking there is a ghost in Stacy's new house. They find old portriats and a big old-fanshioned trunck. They find out a rich family lived here in the 1800's. Mallory gets to keep the truck. Her brothers finally open it (she has brothers that are triplets!), and finds fine, old clothing and a diary with a stack of papers. She reads the diary and finds a mystery that needs to be cleared. Finally she reads the stacks of paper and it was admitted. This is the best book! I loved the book!

I loved Kristy and the secret of Susan.
Please put this book on video so I can buy it. The only thing is that you didn't say if she changed or not at the end. Please try to get Ann M. Martin's signiture and give it to me!

Mary Anne and the Secret in the Attic (Baby-Sitters Club Mystery, 5)

This book was okay.
Mary Anne finds herself very curious of her mother. So she looks in the photo albums in the attic and discovered an awful secret.

Part of how Mary Anne became the incredible person she is...
If you want to meet a truly unforgettable, memorable book character that will forever touch your heart & even change how you think, read this book & meet Mary Anne Spier. Her mom died when she was a baby & her life hasn't been very easy. Yet she faces that with a rare courage & dignity that I admire. She searches the attic to find out more about her mom & discovers her long-lost grandmother! She also finds out a BIG secret that happened between her dad & grandmother that involves her. Even though it upset her terribly, she had the strength & courage to confront it & talk to her dad. It was so touching that she finally got to see her grandmother after all these years & form a bond with her. I liked finding out more about her mom along with her & here we meet Mary Anne's grandmother, Verna Baker. I like Verna too & hope she's in more future books!

I give it a 10!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The reason I give this book a 10 is because it was very while written. In this book Mary Anne finds something about her past that she wishes that she had never laid her eyes on it. I hope you enjoyed this book as much as I did.

Great fun
I attended a cooking class this duo did in Jackson, Miss., and it was wonderful!
These two cooks are inventive and creative and fun. The recipes were different without being "out there."

Great recipes-Easy to Make and Taste Wonderful
This cookbook is a great collection of Louisiana recipes. It offers a large variety of dishes ranging from Appetizers all the way to Dessert, and even includes After-Dinner Drinks! Each recipe is easy to understand and suitable for all cooks, whether you are a master chef or merely a beginner. I recommend this cookbook to anybody who wants to experience true Louisiana flavor!

Gays in Uniform: The Pentagon's Secret Reports
Published in Paperback by Alyson Pubns (1990)
Authors: Kate Dyer, Mary Ann Humphrey, and Defense Personnel Security Research and
Amazon base price: $6.95
Average review score:

Reprint of two Suppressed Pentagon Studies.
Though this book was published in 1990, and is itself a reprint of two Pentagon studies, it is still timely, perhaps unfortunately. The Pentagon has commissioned several studies in the past 50 years attempting to buttress their anti-gay policies. Yet each time these studies came to conclusions opposite those favored by the upper echelons, and so were suppressed. Ex congresspersons Gerry Studds and Patricia Schroeder were able to get two of these studies from the Eighties released despite stonewalling from the pentagon. They're reprinted here in their entirety.

The first and longest, is titled "Nonconforming Sexual Orientations and Military Suitability", the second is titled, "Pre service adjustment of Homosexual and Heterosexual Military Accessions: Implications Security Clearance Suitablity"

Both studies fail to support Colin Powells' superstitious beliefs about gays.

This is an excellent addition to the library of anyone interested in this topic. Great ammunition for arguments, because there are likely no Pentagon scientific studies coming to the opposite conclusion, as those would not have been suppressed as these were.

Mary Anne and the Music Box Secret (Baby-Sitters Club Mystery, 31)
Published in Paperback by Apple (1997)
Author: Ann Matthews Martin
Amazon base price: $3.99
Average review score:

Save it for a boring, rainy day.
Though I am a big fan on Baby-sitters Club, I really think this book was not worth my money or time. The plot is really stupid. It starts out that Mary Anne's step-grandparents' house flooded. While she is helping to clean up, she finds a music box. It has a threat note on it. Mary Anne asks her step grandmother about it, but Granny denies everything. But you can tell right away she's a main suspect just by the way the book is describing her voice. In the end, the BSC finds out who's it really was (which is pretty obvious) Don't waste your money on this book because it's not worth it. But if you are bored enough, borrow it from a friend or library.
