P.N. Furbank writes that "Richard Dunn's title is well-chosen, for that extraordinary phenomenon 'The Berenson Circle' in Florence, is what gives his attractive book its plot and its meaning....{Dunn who] has access to the I Tatti achives, has told this story very skillfully, and with proper fairness and detachment."

The Library Journal recommends this book
Shelley Cox writes in the Library Journal that "Scott played a small but integral part in the British literary scene in the first years of this century. Introduced to the intelligentsia at an early age through his close friendship with the wife of renowned art historian Bernard Berenson, Scott left his most lasting trace as architect and garden designer of the Berensons' Italian villa, but he also published poems and a novel [actually a biography, the hjighly regarded Portrait of Zelide, recently reissued by Turtle Point Press) and began editing the complete papers of James Boswell. Dunn wisely concentrates on Scott's unpublished correspondence. Although Scott was a sad and flawed man, Dunn deftly defines his place and importance within the vibrant literary and artistic milieu of the early 20th Century."

My whole family is reading it!
Thank you for sharing your story, Mrs. Daluge. It's amazing to think that you could do so much to help the Jews and POW's right under the noses of their enemies. My 86-year-old father read it first, and he insisted the rest of the family HAD to read it. He was right.

A Chance to Enter History!
This is a definite MUST read for adults and children alike. Agnes Daluge tells her story as a teenage spy with such spirit it is hard to put down. The happenings of World War II as seen through the eyes of a teenager can provide an excellent opportunity to review with your children and grandchildren. Not only does she give a factual account of her trials and tribulations but Agnes has a way of weaving humor within. Her down to earth writing makes you realize she was a child at heart first, and a spy and god-send for hundreds second. It's an amazing story that enables you to review history in a unique way. Thank you, Agnes, for opening up your life to your readers!

A very good book
This treatment of F. Scott Fitzgerald's connection to the medieval period opens new territory in Fitzgerald studies and in Chaucer studies as well. With the current attention to early 20th century medievalism and its influence on such authors as Hemingway, Chopin, and Fitzgerald, this book is cutting edge.

Thumbs up!!
This book is my bible. It is perfection itself. It is the most up to date resource of its kind, and of any kind. The author is a god. Please call him Zeus, all of his friends do. I do not know the author, but he is one of the voices in my head. If you read the book backwards, you will find inner peace. Buy it

One of the best 20th C. biographies
The Portrait of Zelide, a short biography written in the manner of Lytton Strachey, is one of the most compelling biographies of the Twentieth Century. First published in the 1920's and awarded The James Tait Black Memorial Prize, but out of print for more than forty years, Scott's biography tells the story of the 18th Century Dutch novelist Belle de Zuylen (also known as Madame de Charriere). This book is more than a biography; it is the portrait of an age. Zelide was known throughout Europe: her friends included Boswell, Rousseau, Frederick the Great and Benjamin Constant. Scott writes of her both as an important writer caught up in a personal tragedy and as a reflection of the Enlightment period. Geoffrey Scott (1884-1929) is a neglected figure whose work and life deserve more attention. Friend of Bernard and Mary Berenson, Edith Wharton, John Maynard Keynes, Vita Sackville-West, he was the product of the best educational system England had to offer. An architect, esthetician (his most famous book is probably The Architecture of Humanism), poet and the first editor of the Boswell papers, he moved with ease in scholarly, aristocratic and plutocratic circles in London, Florence and New York. In spite of his many gifts and accomplishments, he was never really able to find himself a place in the post-World War I world until a few months before his death. His tragic life is the subject of a new biography, The Life of Geoffrey Scott: The Brilliant Young Man Forever, to be published by The Edward Mellen Press

1st Poor Book of the Product Line
Since Exalted was released, I have been a huge fan of the setting and system and hence, purchasing each supplement as it comes out. However, this is the one supplement that I wish that I hadn't wasted my money on.

This book is nothing more than a breakdown of ship design and ship terminology. Save your money, this book is fairly worthless for a campaign.

A good book for basic info
I thought the book was pretty decent. It has stats for ships and their weapons, rules for ship to ship combat and even mass combat rules for crew vs crew fighting which could be used for other arenas of combat.
I liked the sections about life at sea and how ships are run. It also talks about the details of navigation in a world which actually is flat and where the pole used for navigation is in the center.
Savage Seas also has some new charms, mainly geared towards use at sea, some new spells, terrestrial and celestial, and a few minor artifacts.
What it didn't have were things like whole chapters about individual pirate groups, or various navies. Those things were pretty much summarized between 2 chapters. Alot of that stuff was covered in other books, or left for storytellers to customize.
All in all, if you run a sea-based series then this book will be a good resource. If you're landlocked, then you might not want to buy it.

Nautical Fantasy Fundamentals
This book has two goals:
1) give storytellers an overview of "realistic" ancient seafaring life/culture/technology; and,
2) give storytellers fantasy specifics about how 1) works in world of Exalted.
I believe it strongly succeeds on both accounts. The material is not a campaign or module per se. What it does is provide an immense amount of cool, detailed material storytellers can work into games of their own design. So if you want something to "plug and play" with minimal effort than this isn't for you. If you're looking for "thinking fuel" and inspiration ... you won't be disappointed. My favorite parts were the one's that provided glimpses of First Age ships. Loved it!!!
