Sturdy flaps!
My kids (2 & 5 yrs), really enjoy flap books, and my 2-yr-old hasn't managed to rip the flaps off this one yet! That aside, I like the book a lot, and own several of them in this series. They are cute and funny and NOT annoying at all, which is often the case with kid's books. I highly recommend it!

My Boys Learned Many Important Hanukkah Words
Our 2 1/2 year old boys taught everyone at day care about Hanukkah with help from this book. Excellent. Next year, we'll get a little deeper (no history or details in this book).

magnificent; very instructive; enthralling
hannukah at its best! after years of communism when my children didn't know what hannukah was, here comes a book that summarizes it all for my children and even myself! The most incredible thing about this book is the imagination of its creators. Well done, guys!

The most fantastic book EVER!
The Hardy Boys are so cool. The Hardy Boy's Ghost Stories is the best out of whole collection. The book gave me a hell of a scare. In my opinion The Walking Scarecrow is one of the best and most scariest stories ever written . I urge all readers to buy this book as it is so excellent. I think Franklin Dixion has out done himself with this marvellous novel.

Terrific Book!
This book has the best spine tingling stories ghost stories ever; I was sort of scared to go back to sleep after I finished a story. I recomend this book to anyone looking for a scream of a good time and a good scare!

Good Morning Sunshine by Betty Ann Schwartz
We read this book to our baby constantly. It had such a pretty rhythm to it. Also the story mirrored my loving feeling toward my new baby. As he got older he loved the feeling of a chunky book. He carried it around all the time. It spurred his love for books today. It finally just fell apart due our constant use. My baby is ten years old now and I would love to replace our copy. I still quote one of the lines from the book most every morning.

ENCOURAGES CHILDREN TO BE INQUISITIVE & TO LISTEN & LEARN
WHAT MAKES A RAINBOW? is a winner because it's clever, well-made, colorful, educational, beautifully illustrated and sturdy. (No, a child can't rip out the ribbons; however, don't give them any scissors! Ha.) Little Rabbit asks his mother, "What makes a rainbow?" and she tells him to ask his friends. He proceeds to ask: Ladybug/Red, Mr. Fox/Orange, Little Chick/Yellow, Mr. Grasshopper/Green, Bluebird/Blue, and Butterfly/Purple. (Where are the MRS.? Hmm.) Every page is predominantly one color and with each turn of the page, a shiny ribbon appears, each under the previous--an inventive idea! Love it.

At the end, Little Rabbit's mother reappears and says, "Now you know what makes a rainbow: RAIN, COLORS--red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple and SUNSHINE!" I like the way she suggested he ask others; this shows parents that sometimes it is best to allow your child to answer his/her *own* questions instead of telling them the answers--Stimulate their Imagination and Inquisitiveness! We can learn SO MUCH from others. I love the way this concept shines throughout the story. Great job all around Schwarz, Turner and Gondek--now THIS is Teamwork!

My daughter picked this out at [local store] among many wonderful books. She wouldn't let it go, she just HAD to have it. She has only done this twice; once with a stuffed kitty and the other--this book! WHAT MAKES A RAINBOW? would make a great gift! 8/10 stars....

Looking for something a little different?
I just picked this book up for my 2-1/2 year old daughter. She was so intrigued by the ribbons, just kept turning the pages, then flipping them back. As each page is turned, another color ribbon appears. The last page has a large pop-up rainbow (paper, not ribbons). The story is simple. Baby bunny goes to ask each of his friends "What makes a rainbow?" Each of his friends answers based on their own personal color (red ladybug, orange fox, yellow chick, green grasshopper, blue bluebird & purple butterfly). Baby bunny learns that rainbows are made up of rain, colors and sunshine. The text is easy, my daughter was repeating it after several readings and enjoys hearing me re-tell the story even without the book - as she calls out each color. The book seems pretty sturdy and I haven't had any problems with the ribbons, although my daughter has yet to pull on them very hard.

Ingredients to a Rainbow
I think everyone has had a chance to go outside after it rains and notice a bright rainbow hight up in the sky. I know I have, and the first thing I always notice is how many colors their are in it. This book really brought that out with its pictures. It showed all the ingredients and gave all the colors that really make up a rainbow. They not only gave examples of animals for the colors, but they used a very creative way of showing the reader examples. Since it was a pop-up book, the things that would pop up would be ribbons that represented the color in which the book was speaking of. I'm pretty sure that young readers that read this book would find this book not to be a very big bore. They would be attracted by the many varieties of colors in the pictures. I also noticed that this book not only teaches younger children colors, but it can also teach them some different animals. But all together in the end, it showed the ingredients of a magnificent looking rainbow. All it needs is rain, colors(red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple), and sunshine. Now that's what makes a rainbow.

It must be good, it "Transcends the Models of Family Therapy
I'm surprised that this book has 0 customer reviews, so here's a review:

I see the aim of this book as to provide a structure for a therapist to combine various models of therapy into a workable therapy, rather than to either use a single model or to combine models in haphazard ways. That being the goal, it does a good job at achieving this by providing 6 core metaframeworks such as "Sequences", "Developmental", and the individual's own internal thought system, "Internal Family Systems".
This book works with factors from the individual to the society level, which is good because people are both individuals, family, and societal (a part of and influenced by society). Systems thinking is well-integrated into the book, as well as defined.
This metaframeworks book integrates four building blocks to help a therapist integrate models specific to their clients. The four building blocks are:
The systemic view, a set of presuppositions, the metaframeworks themselves, and the blueprint for therapy.

This book lacks much detail in how to do specific therapies, but that makes sense because it isn't a book of frameworks, but *metaframeworks*. It can integrate, to some degree, any model a person wishes to apply to it. If you're looking for a way to effectively combine family therapy models, look no further (are there even any books like this to look further at, anyway?). If you're looking for a new model to try, you might not find what you're looking for here, though the Internal Family Systems (IFS) section does go over some basics of the IFS model.
I found out a couple years ago that the three-year therapy masters program at Central Connecticut State University uses this book as the core of their program, having their students use the concepts of this book to combine various models in order to do therapy with a diverse range of clients with various reasons for coming to therapy.

Just about perfect
My 2 year old son is in love with horses. He and his grandfather read about horses and ride horses together. He loves to have any bed time story as long as it has a horse in it. He loves the pictures even though some of the horses are hard to see and the pictures are light. This book is perfect for him. He loves the poetry and sing-song of the words. He and his grandpa will spend hours reading this book.

Wish it worked the first time
I ordered two copies of this book. It is charming just like "What Makes a Rainbow", though I was disappointed to discover that the musical sound chip in both copies was defective. I've ordered replacements, but am hesitant to recommend this book.

WEAK COMPARED TO WHAT MAKES A RAINBOW
We got "What Makes A Rainbow" as a gift and the baby has loved it since 3 weeks old. It is one of our very favorite books and it inspired us to try this book, but the music chip was defective and the story is weak. Maybe our timing was off in terms of when we introduced it, but our baby never got interested in it.

Not your typical pop-up book!
My husband is a former public school music educator and chose this book for one of our son's two-year birthday gifts. We had no idea it would be such a hit! In less then one week, he learned the musical scale by heart!

Although called a "pop-up", this wonderful little book is really much more resilient and well made than a standard pop-up. Instead of typical paper pop-ups, each page reveals a beautiful ribbon of a different color to represent each note on the musical scale. Imaginative and sweet illustrations show how Mama bird teaches her baby how to make music, and baby bird learns the notes of the scale along with the reader. Each ribbon is sized according to the ascending note on the scale and makes a lovely visual effect when the scale is complete. This could also be a great tool for teaching colors!

My son is thrilled when we get to the last page and the ultimate pop-up, (this one is paper but well made) of Mama bird playing her scales in full glory, each one labeled and in corresponding color from the previous pages. You'll love the sparkle in your child's eyes when he discovers the best surprise of all - a well concealed music chip that plays the scale in ascending then descending order when you reach the grand finale' final page!

A lovely and charming book that will have your little one memorizing the musical scale and colors of the rainbow with eager delight.

Hardy Boys
It was great to pick up a Hardy Boys book, and remember the many stories I have read before. I recommend this one, but I like "A Killing in The Market" better.

A Bit Predictable, But Still Enjoyable
Clues in a million-dollar bank robbery in Washington, D.C. lead Frank, Joe and Chet to the Maine wilderness where they join a white-water raft race. I found that certain plot points in the book were very predictable and that the amount of contact the Hardys have with the criminals in the first half of the book was low; despite this, I still enjoyed the book and would recommend it.
