Very good, diverse book with a bit of everything.
This is a great book for the K and Pre-K students to supplement their regular school work. The one page worksheets vary in difficulty so finding the right level for your child is simple. We copy a few pages out of it to give to our Pre-K child while we work with the Kindergardener -- it keeps her busy and she enjoys it. As well, we use many of the worksheets for our kindergarder. I would recommend this as useful part of your overall curriculum.

We loved this book
This book was the basis of our kindergarten curriculum for our first year of homeschooling our daughter. This book includes fun worksheets in handwriting, math, and letters as well as suggestions for fun learning activities. It helped make our first year fun, and the need for planning was minimal.

We used this book as the basis for what we covered, and then added additional activities according to what our daughter needed and wanted.

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom
Even the youngest child "gets" this story of the letters of the alphabet who race each other up a coconut tree. It's a rhyme. It's a chant. Kids love "Skit skat skoodle doot. Flip flop flee." My grandchildren want it read to them every day and have a good familiarity with their letters as a result. The illustrations are large and colorful adding more zest. Children will love the rhymes and chants and go away chanting "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. Will there be enough room"?

A delightful story that promotes a love of books.

Note to the Teacher: Let your student's imagination work. Example,"What can you make out of nothing much?"

Sarah the bride that came through the mail!
Do you know anyone who has ever ordered anything through the mail? Well, how about a bride. Jacob, Anna and Caleb's father, lost his wife and was left to raise his two children alone. He decided that he should find another mother for his children. Sarah responed to his advertisment and sent him correspondence in order to introduce herself to Jacob and his family. She described herself as being plain and tall. In this by Sarah Plain and tall the reader learns how people get to know eachother. I enjoyed this book because it described how Jacob was able to get along without his wife, yet he still wanted more for his children. I think it is an important lesson to put family frist.

Teaching Christian Kids Math Grade 3
This book was ghost written by well known children's author Linda Mark. It is well written and teaches math in a way that incorporates faith. The book does a good job of teaching problem solving skills.

Useful worksheet based book
I have found this a useful book for home education. It has tear-out worksheets sorted into subjects with helpful side tabs on each page so you can see what subject you are in at a glance.

It seems fairly comprehensive in it's subject coverage, and I particularly liked the christian activities and calendar of daily ideas at the back for a positive start to the day.

It is however devoid of any teaching tips or activity suggestions. (I found the Learn-At-Home series from American Education Publishing much more useful in this regard with their weekly planners and teaching ideas/tips).

I would recommend this book if you are simply looking for topical worksheets to complement learning or to reinforce topics already covered.

This is a workbook with a variety of math exercises for 9-12 year-olds. The focus is on problem solving skills, similar to the Chicago math approach. Good for keeping skills alive during the summer months. Reviews of math facts, skills, strategies, stats, etc.

A Handwriting Workbook & Mini Devotional in One
This book isn't very long, 32 pages, but it includes 31 exercises covering at least 2 letters (small or captial) on each page; then full sentences, numbers, days of the week, months, and bible characters. The featured letters in the early pages use similar handwriting techniques, and each step of the letter is numbered, so a student can see how to do it. These letters can then be combined with each other to form words in cursive. For example, the first exercise teaches "a" and "d" and how to combine them -- so the student should be able to write the word "dad" after doing it. Each page features a bible verse that uses the letters learned that exercise, as well as a "Try This" exercise to be done by looking something up in the bible and writing it down. The pages only have a small amount of space for copying beyond the basic exercise, but the author allows reproduction for home or classroom use, so this should not be a problem.

Buyer beware.
I purchased this thinking it was the paperback version of The Giving Tree. Instead its some cheesy activity guide that I wouldn't waste my time on. It is based on the book, but it is misleading that it is not ACTUALLY the book. Buyer beware.

It's An Activity Guide, Folks
Very helpful in discussing and making assignments to go with the book "The Giving Tree." Anyone who didn't realize this was not Shel Silverstein's book was too lazy to read the title.

read?
Along with this review you may be reading a few others that say that this book is worthless, and that the shoppers wanted The Giving Tree. Well I would like to comment that they should have read ACTIVITY GUIDE first of all, as well as "BY FRANK SHAFFER PUBLICATIONS." Everyone knows The Giving Tree is by Shel Silverstein. I can only assume that this book has helpful activities for teachers to use in lesson plans and book extensions- I would like to hear from anyone who actually has this ACTIVITY GUIDE to know if it is, NOT from shoppers who were too lazy or stupid to read what they were buying!
