My one-year-old daughter and I just love this book! I have some other individual Bible stories for her, but they just didn't hold her attention or interest. Not only does this toddler-sized book accomplish that, but there are quite a collection of stories to choose from! The rhythm and rhymes are fun, and we plan to read from this book every day!

This book is adorable. The rhymes are terrific, relatively short (so as not to lose child's interest), and to the point. Definitely get this one if you want to make it fun for your child to learn about the Bible stories.

My son, who is now 5 months old, loves the illustrations in this book and enjoys hearing the rhyming of the book. He enjoyed this book as soon as I introduced it to him at 3 months of age. This is a wonderful way to show your child that reading is fun and to introduce your child to the many wonderful stories in the Bible in a fun and cheerful way.

Russ Flint's illustrations are wonderful for the youngest readers of the bible. The text is a bit sparse, and sometimes a bit edited when it comes to subjects covered, but for a toddler or pre-schooler its perfect. My children are now 4 and 6 and are starting to grow out of it, but they still love the expressive, exaggerated and sometimes outright goofy illustrations in the book. A perfect edition to start reading to the youngest children.

I agree with the previous reviewer: the pictures are so full of emotion and action. The pictures capture my 3 year old's attention, so just flipping the pages causes her to want to know more. The stories are easily understood by preschoolers and are short. This children's Bible has opened the door to teaching her about God (well, this book and VeggieTales). This is a perfectly written book for little ones, giving them an understanding of Salvation, Prayer, The Bible, The Holy Spirit, Baptistm, & The Lord's Supper, with helpful hints for parents at the end of each chapter. My daughter made a decision to accept Christ as her Savior (with a complete understanding of her decision) as a result of this book and so did our pastor's daughter, both at the age of 4. I'm now looking to pass this on to others and am terribly upset at not being able to find it!

This book is so well written! The simple pictures captivate my 2 1/2 year old, and he loves me to read this story to him, over and over again. I'm sure this will be one of his favorite books for many years. It really has helped me to explain difficult concepts to him. I would highly recommend this book for every Christian mother who is concerned about the salvation of her child! I am saddened that I can no longer find this book anywhere.

A simple, clear presentatation of Biblical doctrine that even adults can comprehend! No cartoon characters, but attractive quality life-like illustrations of Bible characters and contemporary children and adults. My grandchildren love to hear it and/or read it themselves again and again. It's one of my favorite gifts to give to kids and at baby showers. Please join me in urging Multnomah to re-issue it! This children's picture book was designed for children ages 4-8. The story of creation is told in rhyme. Pictures illustrate each day's creation climaxing with God's creation of the Sabbath, the seventh day, a day of rest. This is a book to savor, to read thoughtfully as God's plan of creation is unfolded.

"When the World Was New" has become a favorite in our home. Our son just loves this book!!! We have read many creation stories and have found this one to be the best version we have seen thus far. I highly recommend it!

I enjoy reading this book as an adult, as much as my child enjoys hearing it. It is a wonderful, God-inspired, telling of the story of Creation. It captures both the order and exuberance of the earth's beginnings as told in Genesis. The author chooses an "as if you were there" perspective, to make you feel you are viewing the awesome works of The Creator. The text is written in very natural, unforced ryhme, and the colorful illustrations make the words come to life.

The majesty of Creation as told in WHEN THE WORLD WAS NEW, will move a reader of any age. BUY IT!

This is my favorite childrens book. It helps children see the wonders of the world God made. It is very well written and one of my 3 year-old's favorite books. This illustrations are wonderful also. My daughter loves to find to all of the things that God made on each page. It is too bad this book is out of print, find it if you can.

Wonderful book for young children. Shows a family of children who see and appreciate the wonders of God's world everywhere they go. Cute pictures, too. My kids love it!

We received this book as a gift and my son grabs it at least four times a day for us to read to him. The illustrations are colorful, fun and varied. The author beautifully writes about the messages in Psalms in an appealing fashion for toddlers.

My 2 1/2 year old little girl has loved this book from before she could understand the words. The pictures are bright and engaging, the words teach understandable lessons. She still proclaims it her favorite book. We read it over and over.

Beautifully illustrated, this telling of a cherished Bible story is a great lesson for children (and adults) today. A young man is taken captive and pressure is put on him to compromise, but he remains steadfast to his faith and his standards. He is put to the ultimate test because of his convictions and God delivers him miraculously. And deals with his enemies. And blesses Daniel and his friends.
Could be subtitled: How to Be Fed to the Lions, and Live!

This is an excellent story book for young children. The art work is exceptional. Too bad it is out of print because it deserves wide distribution.

We have several Bible story books that we read aloud to our pre-schoolers. This one remained the favorite for months on end, primarily because of the exaggerated illustrations. At first glance, I thought they were a bit overdone. But they helped our 2- and 3-year old boys really get into the story. We will look for other books illustrated by Russ Flint!

I am a KJV only but, this is great for children. I was amazed at how smooth the stories flowed. A must in every home library. wonderful pictures. I also bought the toddlers version. RHYME, RHYME, SPEEDS THE TIME.....

My kindergarted sunday school class loves it. They pay attention, then beg to read it again. I have an audio tape version that I play while I just turn the pages. Unlike some children's translations, this one is truly age appropriate for young children. The rhymes and paraphrasing are exceptionally clever.

My three year old loves to be read to from this bible. He asks for specific stories by name! He enjoys it as much as any of his secular, popular books.
