Core for all Christian Families
This is the best book I've read about Christian families. John & Paula have taught from experience in this book and their knowledge can't be taken lightly. Roles of the mothers and fathers are clearly identified and written about very clearly. Just about every aspect of restoring a family is written about in this book. This book needs to be read by every Christian mother and father as well as every Christian who is in a role of a mother or father type role. Pastors, read this.

I think this is the best book that John & Paula Sandford have written and looking at their other titles, that is saying something.

Understand your family
This is one of the greatest books availible on the subject of family. It gives insites into your spouse as well as your family. Learn God's perspective on common issues that press the Christain household. Gives Biblical solutions to problems that can arise, learn to guard yourself from different attacks that will come against you and your spouse.

Demons no match for God
I have found the advice of John and Paula Sandford very helpfull in the past. So I was intrested in this colaboration with his son Mark. First I liked how they directed you to take resposibility for your actions, and made it clear that we can not use Demons as an excuse for our harmful acts, we provide the furtile ground. In the end it is God who leads us to God, but it is great to have people like John and Mark, dedicated to helping us when we get stuck along the way. If you are ready to take responsibility for your life, this is a great book to help you along.

Wisdom for the wise.
Mr. sandford does an excellent job of explaining the interrelation of deliverance and inner healing. I have witnessed an attempt to deliver a person without the necessary inner healing follow up. The results were disastrous. Many take for granted the healing power of God, omit repentance and never deal with the root of the problem. Perhaps arrogance motivates people to wield the power of the Holy Spirit without using wisdom. This book is a must for anyone interested in deliverance.

Solid food about deliverance and inner healing.
Most books are either about inner healing or about deliverance. Though there are more and more books that deal with both subjects, there is hardly any book that integrates the two ministries better than this one. It deals with both subject on a deep level ("Defeating Dark Angels" from Charles Craft was also pretty good I thought, only it took him another book "Deep Wounds, Deep Healing", to totally cover the subject of inner healing). You could see this book as an introduction to his earlier more extensive books like "The Transformation of the Inner Man" and "Healing the Wounded Spirit", but better see it as a 'complete' introduction to his earlier books, in that it covers a lot of information and also integrates the ministry of deliverance, what hasn't been done before. It is clear where the books of the Sandford's stand. Somebody who want to be merely 'introduced' with the subject should read other books first, like the three books from David A. Seamands. But to be even better informed you should definitively read "Deliverance and Inner Healing"!

The most comprehensive book I've read on the topic
Why is forgiveness so important? Why do some Christians seem so unhappy? Why do some people see God as an angry, harsh dictator? Why is it that some people act just like what they resented as children? Why can't some people open up to others? How biblical is counseling and inner healing? All these questions and more are addressed in great length and depth in Transformation of the Inner Man.

Using biblical truths and examples John and Paula Saandford use their life experiences and knowledge to author this book. Their knowledge comes from years of prayer ministry and counseling experience. Some of the most controversial and tough questions are answered. 22 of the most basic issues are written about in detailed form to give the reader a thorough understanding of some reasons why people can't function as God created them to. Biblical truths as emphasized and all theories have scripture to back them up.

All pastors and leaders need to at least have this book in their library. This book does take time to read and comprehend so it may not be ideal for everyone. Even if you are a seasoned counselor or been in prayer ministry for a long time you would still benefit from this book.

This book, along with Healing the Wounded Spirit, are great additions to any Christian's library and essential for church leaders to have.

Opening Your Eyes to Healing the Inside
This book is incredible. It should be read slowly and carefully, taking the time to pray and digest all the material within. I think I will read and re-read it many times. I have already bought 4 copies for other people. It is for the Christian who wants the true answers to why we continually do the stupid things we do - even though we 'know better'. It deals with relationships - all of our relationships and focuses on the most important relationship - that of a believer to his Lord. Jesus Christ's death is the answer through which all our hurts can be healed, and this book is deliberate and thorough on why that is the case. If you want to hear what God says better, find out why you eat too much or drink or have been too promiscuous, this is the book for you. If your problems are workaholism or just not getting along with your spouse, this is the book for you. If you're not quite sure why you feel that uncomfortable sensation when things are not going well and you can't explain why - this is the book for you. Too much to describe here. This is no magic formula or cult book - it is all about the laws of the world and how God set us up to work- and how to align ourselves with that.

The True Essence Of Transformation
Having enjoyed a number of seminars presented by the Sanfords, and seen the fruit of their labors in lives healed and sanctified, it was refreshing to read The Transformation Of The Inner Man. This transformation begins with accepting Christ's sacrificial atonement and is worked out in the process of maturation in the Christian walk. Accountability, maturity and responsibility are all appropriately emphasized in the context of grace and compassion for the hurting and the lost. As a mature student in a Counseling Psychology M.A. program, who has also taken courses at Vancouver, British Columbia's Regent College, I have studied the biblical application of their philosophical/psychologial reasoning and found it to be sound in every respect. The lasting change of which they speak, in contrast to humanistic approaches, is demonstrated to be truly effected only through the agency of the Holy Spirit, as God unites His will with that of the individual who is seeking true scriptural transformation. It seems tragic that, being wary of demonic imitations of The Real Thing (one example might be a 'theosophistic' approach to healing), there are those who shun the Truth of what God has given us and 'Slewfoot' has so poorly imitated. How ironic that the enemy can leave us attacking other Christians, especially those who have been so efficacious is the realm of 'cleansing and purifying one's innermost being' (I specifically mean the Sanfords in this case), when what we are called to do in this hour is build up the body of Christ. 'By their fruits you shall know them'. The fruit of the Sanford's work is holiness, purity, repentance and love as is described in the 13th chapter of the book of Corinithians. I would caution any reader to weigh each deposit by overzealous reviewers who have not personally witnessed the ministry of the Sanfords, and the fruits of their labors, close at hand. What can we do to facilitate the divine work that the Lord has been doing through the Sanfords? Refraining from quenching the Spirit is a start.

Great Governing Families of England

First-rate collection of popular family history
Townsend, who was editor of THE SPECTATOR, prevailed upon Sanford in 1865 to produce a series of popularly written columns for his magazine on the histories of the "greater English families -- those few whose influence being still great has from age to age been perceptible in our annals, who form, as it were, the backbone of the aristocratic system." The essays were quite successful and brought in a good deal of correction and comment from readers, all of which was taken into account as the columns were revised for book publication. As Townsend points out, it's not just a long and illustrious genealogy that determines which families will be most influential, but established influence combined with wealth in the form of land. And all this happens with the consent of the governed, for "England is governed in times of excitement by its people; in quiet times by its property." Things have changed somewhat in the intervening 138 years -- but not much, not really. In any case, the thirty-one families treated here are those most likely to be of interest to the student of English peerage genealogy, from the truly ancient Percies, Talbots, and Greys to the relatively more recent Barings, Somersets, and Seymours. Sanford takes pains to question family traditions and his no-nonsense style is occasionally acerbic and sardonic. (I suspect he was not himself a Tory.) Details of family goings-on are plentiful, as are the names of those, high and low, with whom the powerful interacted. And while there are no source notes, of course, the author refers often to other authors. This work, available in a reprint edition, is an excellent source of much information in a small space.

Very Interesting & Controversial Book
This book is a very good book about how to gather a burden for the nations as a whole. It is very controversial, though. John Sandford states that polygamy is acceptable in some countries and churches, and that God(Jesus) can be found in all world religions. Although there are many things I find disagreeable, the book as a whole is a must for anyone with a burden for the nations. It has it's redeeming qualities, in which it speaks of mistakes missionaries have been making for years when trying to reach the lost of the world and how to correct them. It really deepend my understanding of how God views the nations of the world. Overall it's a MUST-READ!
