O Please
Lost and found
The dark eyes and quick wit of this fascinating young woman are just a hint of the depth and range of her work. I am fortunate enough to have met Ms. Samyn and heard her read her work, and I highly reccomend this book. Using an historical framework, the captivity narrative, a journal-like record of the ordeals endured by American settlers who were captured by Indians, Samyn explores a more modern meaning of lost and found, captive and free.
This is a wonderful and inspiring book, from Mary Ann Samyn!
Wow! What a great book. I have also read "Rooms By the Sea" (you should read it!) by Mary Ann Samyn. I hope that everyone will love it as much as I did!!! (:

The First was Best
I've read all of Ms. Samyn's books, and I think this is her best. Great images and accessible themes. Of all her books, I come back to this one from time to time to study the lines. Some are quite startling. Each of her successive books gets more cryptic. Too much MFA in them -- writing that tries too hard to be "poetic" and by doing so pushes away the common reader. Reread your first book Ms. Samyn. It will show you how you need to write again.

No one should be subdued to read this
Seriously, all I have to say is that this collection of "poetry" is mere ramblings...uncreative. The author is trying to sound deep, but is failing horribly...It is too "Angry Girl." The only thing that i liked about the book was the cover art.
Poet to Watch
Inside the Yellow Dress is a wonderful collection. Samyn's control of language and sparseness spins a world of beauty. Samyn's excellently manipulates the structure of the poem on the page for the greatest effect of tension.
This book is also well-organized. Anyone putting together their first collection of poetry should look to Samyn for ideas on how to do it.
