Wow
this is a seriously good book. I couldn't put it down. This is the first book I've read by Lisa Sampson. It sure was a big introduction. She is an amazing author who makes the characters real for the reader.

Lisa:Great Author
Lisa Samsonis one of my MOST favoriteAuthors. Not only is "Fields of Gold" a wonderful book, the Series, "Shades of Eternity" is great. I love how she creates people of serious physical flaws and then brings along someone who sees their heart (rather than the flaw) and falls deeply in love with them. I love her other series, The Highlanders and The Abbey as well. I'm partial to Historicals, but I also like very much "The Moment I Saw You" and "The Church Ladies." I highly recommend this book as well as everything else she's written (that I know about. They're all keepers and re-readers for me. by Vondia Caruso

This is the best series I have read
Fields of Gold was extremely good, I love how it picks up exactly where Indigo Waters left off, and goes on from there. My favorite characters by far is David Youngblood and Camille Poullson, and I love how they are brought together in these books!!

Dive in!
Reading a Lisa Samson book is like diving into a refreshing literary river--clear, clean prose that carries you along in waters delightful and deep, funny and profound. Women's Intuition is no exception. I am not usually a "women's fiction" reader, but I read Samson because I love good writing, and find she transcends the same old-same old. Join the delight. Discover Lisa Samson for yourself. -- James Scott Bell

This is one of those books you have to read twice!
Lisa Samson has succesfully created a work of fiction that will touch every facet of your life. She weaves a tale with love, laughter, fear, and joy that anyone would love to wrap themselves up in. Brew a pot of coffee and enter Lark Summerville's complicated life. You won't want to go back home.

Honest and Compelling
This book came recommended by a good friend, one who knows I don't usually like books with "Christian" themes. However, Women's Intuition quickly won me over. It's an awesome read--I loved it and was sad to finish the book. The characters are quirky, funny, honest and compelling. They struggle with fear and with how to have faith in the midst of painful circumstances. The writing is lively and reminds me of Elizabeth Berg or Anne Lamott. I've already recommended this book to three of my friends! Lisa Samson is an up and coming author and I can't wait to read her next book.

The Best of the Series
These books of Ms. Samson's just keep getting better and better. I loved this book, it was AWESOME!!... It taes place exactly where Fields of Gold left off, and goes on from there for quite a few years, Elspeth is now grown, and she goes through many trials!! I loved the LOVE between David and Camille!!

A very good read
I really enjoyed this book. This story is about murderer David Youngblood and his new wife Camille, a former professional mistress. The characters are very real and not your typical "perfect" Christian character. They deal with struggles, and a rebellious daughter while trying to solve the mystery of a double murder that David's former prisonmate was sent to Devil's Island for. This book held some suspense and mystery as to who the real murderer is. I find that Lisa Samson does not try to write in a'politically correct Christian' way, which is a nice change. It was nice to see what happened to the rest of characters from the previous two books in the series. Lisa Samson is one of the best Christian authors out there. If you like historical christian novels then this is one to buy.

Sweet and Romantic with intrigue
This was a wonderful novel. The freshness and purity of the love between the main characters was very uplifting. The fact that the struggles in their relationship came from their separation instead of their pride, selfishness, etc. was absolutely refreshing. I am looking forward to reading more of Lisa's work!!

Highlander and His Lady
A magnificent first novel by Lisa Samson! If you can find this book, I definitely recommend that you read it. The love between Jenny and Kyle is so real and the story itself is magical.

Great book
This book really made me think about alot of things. Ms. Samson has a great way of making her characters seem real and they are easy to come to love.

I am a big fan of Ms. Samson, and will be on the lookout for other books as they come out.

I enjoyed it greatly.

Laughed out loud
And would you believe one of the main themes of the book is "depression"? Lisa Samson's blend of dry humor and deep sprirituality make for a refreshing read. Well done!

Uplifting!
There are times that I think my life was or still is hard. Well, I'm a black female who grew up in a middle-class home with two teachers as parents. College was as automatic as sleeping and eating. But, for these young men in the book "The Pact", college was as uncertain as winning the lottery. I always knew that our young black boys growing up in the inner-city had it super hard, but this book allowed me to see another side of our young brothas. They all have dreams as little kids, even though they don't see anyone in their neighborhood to emulate. Somehow, someway, Sampson Davis, Rameck Hunt and George Jenkins all found the determination to succeed and become doctors. Their positive story is proof that just one person can make a difference in a kid's life. Everyone needs someone to look up to; someone to follow.

We all have gifts we can share. Read this book and feel blessed that someone in your life took the time to mentor you and be there for you; not everyone has that in their lives. I am so proud of these young men! Not only are they smart and positive, but they are cute too! What a great combination! God has truly blessed them and their family.

What a refreshing book. Thanks to Tavis Smiley for recommending it on the Tom Joyner Show.

The Power of Friendship and Positive Competitiveness Display
"The Pact" is an incredible book! I just finished reading the remarkable journey completed by Drs. Sam Davis, George Jenkins, and Rameck Hunt. It's an easy, quick read ~250 pages.

If you're not familiar with their story, they are 3 young, African-American men from Newark that establish a pact at 17-years old to become doctors. Over the years, they run into many obstacles (peer pressure, arrest, finances, and family issues) that tend to dissuade so many young people from pursuing their dream. With the "I got your back" support of each other, mentors they encountered throughout their journey, and God they become doctors despite how many people had presumed their future would turn out.

Dr. George Jenkins, probably the most focused in the group, knew at a very young age that he wanted to be a dentist. In high school, the three friends attend a college presentation offering full scholarships to minority students interested in the medical field. Knowing that neither he nor his friends could afford college THIS OFFER would be their ONLY way to attend college...the formation of the pact.

Surprisingly, after completing college and med school, Sam and Rameck were still unsure if they wanted to be doctors. Sam saw business/management as his future and Rameck wanted to be an actor (he'll settle on being a rapper). (If I didn't know the outcome, I would have been in suspense until the bitter end waiting to learn if they became doctors.) The death of an important person in each of their lives confirmed that medically helping others is what they were meant to do in life.

If you're in the education field or work closely with children in your community this is an excellent book to pick up when you...

- feel like what can I do to get through to this person
- need a testimony that success is not by luck but achieved through faith, perseverance, and support from others
- need a roadmap to better mentor a person in need

"The Pact" is an amazing story of inspiration and motivation to get (primarily) black teens to see beyond their environment, current situation, and look ahead with a plan for tomorrow. "The Pact" also displays the need for adults to begin mentoring children before they reach their teens. The book concludes with the doctors providing the "how-to's" to make a pact work.

We are our Brother's Keeper!!
This book is a must read for ALL ADOLESCENT MALES!! It is a strong testimony to the power of friendship and perseverance despite circumstances. Each young man had someone in their family who directly or indirectly motivated them to persevere. They had to make some very uncomfortable choices, but were able to keep their "eyes on the prize." Affirmative Action programs continue to serve a real purpose in our society. This book has become a mandatory read in my classes. To the one who still holds to the "...because I'm Black" statement. My question to you is "How long are you going to be Black?"

This Book Will Leave You Wanting More
I've always been a big fan of Christian Romances, especially ones set in past times. All I can say is I could not put this book down! I stayed up half the night reading all that I could. It is suspenseful, funny, heartbreaking, and uplifting all at the same time. I loved it! I immediately went out and got the sequel also!

Awsome Book!
This is one of the best books that I've read of its kind. I love reading and this one kept me hooked. If you have ever read a Christian romance that you liked, you'll like this one. There are many plot twists and they keep you guessing right up to the very end. Even with all the turns it takes, you never get lost - I knew what was happening from beggining to end. Your heart will go out to Sylvie and what she needs to go through. She is forced to make a choice between love and loyalty to her family. Her strong, though young faith in God keeps her going and happy through it all.

This book is truly a heart and soul gripping tale.
Lisa Samson is a wordsmith that takes your heart on a spiritual journey filled with memorable characters that become dear friends, or bitter enemies. The landscape is breathtaking. You will emerge from this book an enriched person.

A Testimony for Forgiveness...
While reading *The Church Ladies* with my on-line Christian bookclub, I ran the gamut of virtual emotions. At some points, I felt saddened; others, inspired. When living vicariously through the lives of Poppy, Chris, Duncan, Mildred and Paisely, I realized how important forgiveness of the people around you really is. Lisa Samson gave me a gift and a life lesson; so much more than a couple of days of literary entertainment.

Poppy Fraser is the embattled wife of Duncan, the Highland Park Church pastor. She divides her time between her family of three, her bestfriend Chris and her artwork. Although Poppy's marriage to Duncan seems like a happy one, Poppy has often thought about leaving Duncan for good. Secrets lining her past prevent her from fully contributing to her marriage.

A tragedy hitting close to the Fraser home opens Poppy's eyes to the lives in and around her community. She, with the assistance of Miss Mildred LaRue, develops a Monday night prayer group with the other pastors' wives in the community. The emotional support the women provide to each other becomes a turning point for Poppy's problems at home.

I thought the book was a much needed reminder that to seek forgiveness from others, we must forgive ourselves first. Lisa Samson delivered home a lesson for all of us! I'll definitely be on the lookout for more from this wonderful author.

Personal Relationships
Poppy (pastor's wife) Chris, Duncan, Mildred and Paisely are the church people who teach us much about personal relationships, interactions and, most importantly, forgiveness. This is a wonderful novel along the same genre of Jan Karon, Miss Read and Philip Gulley. The author is a mother of three and has personal insights into family living. And, I always like to recommend my favorite book of the year, • THE PRAYER OF HANNAH • by Kenn Gividen.

Samson took the words right out of my heart . . .
The author has penned a wonderful story that touches, inspires, and captivates. I found it to be very well written and easy to follow. I didn't want to put it down ("I'll just read one more chapter!"), and I was sorry when I finished it. I have felt so many of the emotions and struggles that Poppy experiences, especially wanting to run from a less-than-satisfactory marriage. But it's all about grace and learning to lean on God during times of adversity. I could really relate to the story of Poppy's spiritual restoration and growth.

Samson's prose has a "Jan Karon-esque" flavor to it. If you like the "Mitford" series, you'll like "The Church Ladies." I hope there will be a sequel.

A great escape read with a wholesome message
I had a hard time putting this book down. Samson makes you care about what happens to her characters. The country inn setting and later, a trip to Europe, make for a great escape via Samson's pen. Add to this a wholesome, realistic romance and you've got the makings of a great read.
