Wow! Why is this not mainstream news?
I don't have anything to add to the review from New York Oct. 12 1998, except, If you have a mind, this will open it! This book leaves me angry, frustrated, and grasping for hope. A "Must Read" for any person who cares for the health of their fellow humans. Where's accountability!

Exposes the scientific invalidity of animal research
An excellent book which truthfully exposes the powerful, vested interests which keep the vivisection industry alive.Exposes the medical, chemical and vivisection industries which are responsible for the mass belief that animal research is necessary. This book absolutely proves that animal experimentation is harmful to human health. Excellent documentation and interesting.

Unforgettable
I read this book many years ago and loved every single page!!
Now I am looking for a copy to buy for my son and daughter, because I want them to experience the wonderful feeling of reading this extraordinary book. I lent my copy so many times I eventually lost track or it(as often happens).
Wonderful in many ways...a window into another way of life and more ways of looking at life. A must-read!!

Riviting
This book is an antrhopologically correct fiction based upon the lifestyle of the Inuit, or Eskimo. An adventure of survival in bitter cold. In a world where life seems impossible, they have developed the tools and the know how to not only survive, but to come to terms with the cold. Personally I was introduced to this book in undergraduate school, and read it every winter. The Inuit appear to do everything back ward to our common sense, pointing out the ethnocentricity that we all have. They eat rotten meat, build their homes on frozen ocean surfaces, and use the permanent deep freeze of the artic as an ally. Hard to put down, it will change your perspective of culture as you know it.

As good as the first one.
This is the first time I read this book after reading the first one twice, and it is as good... Life in the North Pole is harsh... some scientists say it is the place with the worst living conditions on this planet we call Earth... but the real Men (you'll have to read the book to know what this means in order not think this is a sexist comment) found a home and a place to live in this isolated land. But the real admirable thing is not living here, but being able to find content in life's simple miracles and find happiness where anybody else would find none... Real Men desire no more than what one has. There were times I thought I was reading a book about life in a different planet.
The Polar ice is alive and is respected by the Men... They don't live by the clock, they believe in always laughing and looking at the good side of things... Their cosmogony will strike you with awe and make you wonder...

Excellent book
As somebody who has read many books about our mistreatment of animals, this is the most comprehensive book I've read about the wrongs of vivisection. Hans Reusch describes how vivisection or animal experimentation is wrong for the following reasons: 1. the horrific cruelty to animals; 2. it is fraudulent research and is not helping humans, eg., a drug which reacts in humans one way may react completely different in another species; and 3. how the pharmaceuticals are more interested in profiting from diseases instead of looking into preventing them in the first place.

Reusch gives great historical perspectives on medicine and pharmaceuticals. He provides plenty of footnotes. I also found it good that Reusch forwarns the readers of a chapter which can be skipped over because it graphically describes the actual experiments.

I'm giving the book four stars instead of five because I really hope Reusch considers a new edition. Everything written in this book rings true today. It would, however, be useful to see more recent examples of the harm which the experiments have brought to both animals and mankind.

Life changing
Few books can be said to really change our lives but 'Slaughter of The Innocent' is truly one of them. I urge you to read this book especially if you are a believer in vivisection.

Reading this may cause you to question the myths, spin and downright lies that have been promoted so effectively by the medical and pharmaceutical industries for decades. Read and form your own view as to why this book is banned from many bookstores.

slaughter of the innocents
A harrowing read but a seminal work on the subject of vivisection, the injustice to both man and animals is coherently explained.
