Great Christmas present!
Kids from 8 to 12 love jokes and this joke book is for them. Easy to read, predictably corny, these jokes will keep them reading and improve their memory skills.

If you have a long car trip ahead or, better yet, your grandchildren do, get them this joke book. It will keep the kids entertained and the driver thankful for those long car naps when he/she doesn't have to "knock-knock".

This little book is wonderful and enlightening to all cat lovers and animal lovers. I came across this delightful little book in an office recently. After several searches of numerous book stores, only to my disappointment to find it out of print. I can only hope this little "angel" of a book will reappear, not only for myself, but all those whom are seeking this joyous piece of writing.

This is a very heat warming little book.
This book will be loved by all cat lovers. Everything from the illustrations to the to the stories has been a great comfort to me after losing my feline" friend" of 16 years. It has even been a delight while getting to know my new feline "friend".

The Encyclopedia of Super Villains

Amazingly thorough reference book
This is Rovin's companion piece to his "Encyclopedia of Superheroes", and is every bit as well researched. Try to think up the most obscure comic book or TV serial supervillain--he or she is in here. If I had to find a quibble, it's that this book includes the nemeses of superheroes that were not listed in the former book; for example, you'll find entries for the Master, but Doctor Who was not in TEOSH.

A must own for comic book, SF, and adventure film/TV buffs alike.

Out of Print treasure
I've owned the Encyclopedia of Super Heroes for about 10 years, and although it might be considered a useless book for comic junkies, it's much more than that. I am not a comic book junkie, but love the cultural history of my generation and this is a book that traces the history of super heroes from their sources, whether it is comics, television, or films. Taken as a whole - and it is a lofty examination at more than 400 pages - The Encyclopedia of Super Heroes is about our hopes and dreams for society, our desire to imagine the ability to face all challenges, and the history of our culture. It's an excellent book.

A Delightful Overview of the Golden Age of Fantasy Films

Ask any visual effects artist working in the bowels of Industrial Light & Magic who their childhood idols were, odds are that their most common replies would be Ray Harryhausen and Willis "Obie" O'Brien. The stop-motion creations of these cinema pioneers have sparked the imaginations of countless moviegoers, and provided imagery which serves as stunning landmarks in the history of filmmaking. From King Kong standing atop the Empire State Building, to the hulking Cyclops and scimitar-wielding skeleton of "The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad", the cinematic creations of these two legendary artists have ingrained themselves into places of honor in our popular culture.

_From the Land Beyond Beyond_ is a splendid overview of the careers of these remarkable individuals, packed with photos and behind the scenes details on how Harryhausen and Obie brought these magical creatures to life. The book goes on to touch upon the early careers of some of the effects artists who were inspired by the Masters, who themselves have now gone on to occupy prominant positions in the industry. Together with _Ray Harryhausen's Film Fantasy Scrapbook_, this volume is an vital addition to the library of any fantasy film enthusiast.
