Beautiful, But Incomplete Picture Book
This book is written by a man who loves the subject. The pictures in this book are big and interesting. This is the first book on this subject that I've read that shows the outside shots of the stadium. However, this book does not get the five star rating because it seldom goes into great depth into any stadium. Even Yankee Stadium and Fenway Park get only six pages each. Also, the pictures in this book were often flawed, with the author often using a painting, a very blurred picture, or an unusual camera angle. You don't get to see little things such as the Crosley incline or the Brooklyn Abe Stark sign. Furthermore, the book does not cover the newest stadiums in Pittsburgh or Milwaukee and leaves out some of the older classisc such as Braves Field, Griffith, and Baker and omits transitional stadiums such as Seals, Exhibition, and Colt. I'm thankful for what is in the book but I'm also a big fan of baseball stadium history. I am also aware of what is not in the book, which is a considerable amount.

What an Amazing Book!
This book is one of the best baseball books I have ever read. It beautifly incorporates pictures, quotes, and facts about baseball's best parks into a single rescource. This is the best book for baseball fans to learn about and enjoy America's ballparks. I would recommend it above any other baseball book. It would make an excellent holiday gift for everyone on your list.

...take me out to the ballgame!!! (please)
As a life-long baseball fan, I enjoy visiting ballparks around the country whenever I can. This book is wonderful! The pictures are fantastic and so are the interesting bits of trivia and information. I haven't yet bought my own copy of this book, but did buy it as a present for my father, who shares my love of baseball. The book is right next to his favorite chair where he can check it out while the ballgame is on. I enjoy thumbing through it trying to plan the next vacation where I can sneak in a game....If you are a baseball fan, or have one on your shopping list, this would be the perfect gift (short of World Series tickets for your home team).

Surprisingly good mix of technical detail and storytelling
As someone who works at a Nuclear plant, I've had much training on the accident at TMI in much greater detail than provided in this book (although, Gray does do a decent job at explaining how operators responded to that paricular event...he does leave out a lot, however). The best thing about this, for me, was his obvious research with regard to other facilities that had the same problem prior to TMI and the lack of a Nuclear network to help get the word out (we have an extensive network of information sharing now). The character descriptions are excellent and the story does flow like a novel...get this book (if you can find it...it's been out of print for a while) if you want a reasonably close explanation of what occured at TMI, but get it more for the story and the background information.

Couldn't put it down
Very intriguing book about the near disaster at Three Mile Island. Very well written, it keeps you spellbound to the very last period. It explains what went wrong with excellent detail. Enough information to keep you spellbound, but not enough to bore you with unnecessary details. A very well written book. A must if you want to learn the true story about Three Mile Island.
