I live in the South, Texas to be exact, we are the buckle of the bible belt. Most of the people here are fundamental about their experience of God. God and the Holy Spirit is experienced through emotional flooding. With one hand they are beating themselves up with how unworthy they are and with the other hand they are pushing down the pain with alcohol, drugs, sex, work and yes, God to take away their pain and suffering. An endless cycle of lack and low self esteem. Statistically, Texas has the highest prison population in the country. Dallas is known as the "divorce capital" of the USA. Country music, which appeals to the emotions, is mostly about "crying, loving and leaving". People here continue to try and fill the emptiness with someone or something outside themselves. MSIA, which teaches to go inside to your spiritual heart, means they would have to let go, fear of the unknown and the layers of shame make the idea extremely painful.
In the nutrition work I do most of the women I work with are in the fundamental churches. They are taught that the man of the house is in charge of their spiritual guidance. They give over to the "man of the house" any right of who they are. Being invisible, having no identity, these women, over a period of years begin to get sick. There is a lot of breast cancer and diseases of the female organs. The men I work with suffer mostly from heart related illness. Taking on the responsibility of everyone in the family and denying their own needs, they too become invisible. With a lack of self esteem, each person is trying their best to put out a "good image". A good wife, a good husband, a good child. There are more plastic surgeons per capita per person in Dallas than anywhere else in the country. The need to be "perfect". Over creating emotionally like a roller coaster, up and down, gets real tiring...I know, been there done that, ain't never goin' back ...I was raised in a fundamental religious family. (Thats another story)
Living in the Bible Belt, I decided to do some investigation work. Where do the Christian churches get their information? In reading various books (if your interested in the books I read I will send a bibligraphy), I found , the teachings of the "Apostle" Paul. The Catholic Church is based on his teachings as well as the teachings of St. Augustine. Further, I discovered both Paul and Augustine's philosophy is based on Socrates and Plato not Jesus Christ.
During the height of Greek culture and philosophy, Socrates was the best known for influencing people with his philosophy. In his Book VII the allegory of the Cave, long before Freud, Socrates understood the workings of the human psyche. Socrates demonstrated that the aim of education was to turn the soul around by changing its desires. Desire having to do with the mind and emotions. Socrates was forced to kill himself because he was very pushy about showing people how they could change their lives.
His student Plato, who was from a very wealthy family didn't need to work. With money and influence he took over where Socrates left off. Paul lived during the same time period and used the philosophy of Socrates and Plato mixed it in with some of the philosophy of Jesus Christ and being a great promoter like some our television evangelist said it was the teachings of Jesus Christ. I also ran across some information about how Paul and some of Jesus's disciples like John also know, as John The Beloved, were in disagreement about how Paul was promoting Jesus.
The teachings of Jesus Christ, as I have come to learn is about LOVING, and forgiveness, worthiness to love and be loved. Taking care of yourself first, so you can take care of others. Each person is in charge of themselves. Free to be just who we are....because we are all from God...
The "Spiritual Warrior" is a tool back to what I feel are the true teachings of Jesus Christ, the Loving Heart. "Seek Ye First The Kingdom Of Heaven and all things will be given unto you. The Kingdom of Heaven is within." Reclaiming who I am has been a long journey. Going inside and peeling off the layers of fear, guilt and shame, to truly know my loving heart. Each and every day is more learning about what that is. Free at last, free at last, thank God, I am free at last. I pass on the "Spiritual Warrior" whenever and where ever I can.
"Happiness is an In -Thing" . Its inside, become a Spiritual Warrior, find your courage to let go and let God, and yes, climb aboard for the ride of your life....
I highly recommend it.

In this spellbinder Layton breaks his sacred oath as a Navy Officer to reveal how incompetency, infighting and persuit of personal gain at high ranks allowed the Pearl Harbor "surprise" to occur, greatly prolonged the Pacific War and brought the Allied Forces to the brink of defeat in the Pacific.
Layton reveals in chilling detail how Pearl Harbor Commanders Admiral Kimmel and General Short were made scapegoats and cashiered in disgrace, how the Fleet's Carrier task force sortied days after the bombing but was recalled out of fear, how Admiral Nimitz was forced to commit conspiracy and treason to get the 5th Fleet to Midway in time for battle. Layton exposes a secret vandetta by Washington Commanders against Pearl Harbor Intellegence personnel that caused a Japanese cipher change and the terrible effects of the lengthy intellegence "blackout" it caused at the most critical point in the War.
Layton shatters recorded history with a cronological portrayance of documented events as he lived them, by the side of the Navy Admirals who despite incredible odds, heavy losses and fierce opposition led Allied Forces to victory in the Pacific.
This Book is a "must read" for all! This Author's story must not be forgotten! At some risk with personal sacrifice, with violation of Oath, at the end of his life with no possible personal gain his last and greatest service to this great Country was a grave warning to us all;
World War Two showed us the stratigic advantage of airpower and of the Naval Aircraft Carrier. This "portable" airbase brought enormous destructive power to our enemies shore and allowed us to attack his facilities and installations with relative ease. With the modern atom bomb and ICBM the Continents become the bases from which total distruction unparalleled and swift can be wroght upon any Continant with relative ease.
Beware, this is what did happen, this is what can happen, this is what will happen again if we forget!
A Thermoneucular Pearl Harbor, surprise we're gone!
"The Murder of Roger Ackroyd" was Christie's fourth Poirot novel, while "Murder on the Links" was her second. In both Christie adopts the motif of narrating the story from the point of view of someone who undertakes to assist Poirot in the solution of the mystery. Christie introduces the cast of suspects, gives each of them a dark secret and a motive to lie, and piles up the circumstances in such a way that the flying fickle finger of suspicion points to every one of them at some time or another. She compounds the confusion by supplying false leads and deliberatly glossing over hot clues.
In each case Poirot holds his cards close to his vest, tantalizes the reader/listener with cryptic comments, and finds the most inconsequential-appearing facts to be highly significant. Eventually Poirot airs everyone's dirty laundry, explains his chain of deductive reasoning, reconstructs the crime in all its improbable complexity, and gets a confession. The stories are less mysteries than they are sliding block puzzles. Though extremely short on realism, they are long on entertainment value.
Although the BBC radio play had excellent production values, audio cassette may not be the best way to enjoy a Poirot mystery. I listen to radio plays as I drive on business, and I find the Poirot plays hard to follow because of the large cast of characters and the complexities of plotting. Poirot could probably be enjoyed more readily in print. You could then read, re-read, take time out to mull over the complexities, and follow the story much better. Probably the best way to enjoy Poirot would be to read the story first, and then listen to the radio play.

For the student of Asian-American History or Early Modern Asian Japanese History, Pacific Pioneers, is an invaluable reference that bridges the gap between the broad view of early Japan-U.S. interaction and the Japanese political reaction to it. Many of the popular books that deal with this area of history are concerned with its larger events such as the Perry and Iwakura Missions.
Van Sant's book is about individuals who came to a foreign land, and were instrumental in defining how the Western world viewed a recently opened island nation. Van Sant's scholarship is through and compiles a great deal of information that is often lost in the larger events of the period. Even those who aren't interested in Asian or Asian-American History can appreciate the people Van Sant has researched for their sense of wonder and discovery as some of the first to leave their homeland, which was closed off to nearly all foreign intercourse for over 200 years.
I find the book especially engaging because it examines how Americans reacted to their foreign visitors during a time when man of today's stereotypes about the Japanese culture had not been developed. Also, by examining the way in which the New World was viewed by the Japanese visitors, the reader can see how foreigners reacted to the Western world and found their culture to be exotic, captivating, and at times, frightening. The book is a revealing and honest look at how different cultures are viewed by people that were truly foreign to them.
A book I recommend for anyone who is interested in history on a very personal and revealing level.
In clear economic prose, thankfully free of academic jargon, Van Sant explores each of these expatriate communities in some depth. (Oddly enough, the author makes no mention whatsoever of the troupes of Japanese entertainers criss-crossing the country during this same period. Even Mark Twain complained bitterly in 1867 about having to compete with a company of Japanese acrobats for an audience.) He also does the historical record a considerable service by freeing some of these pioneers--the "mysterious" Wakamatsu Colony of Gold Hill, California being a prime example--from an encrustation of myth. If I have any quibble at all with Pacific Pioneers, it is that it is too short. Highly recommended!

In his book, Relationships, I found that John-Roger goes directly to the issues whether it's about sex, sexuality, communicating,day-to-day stuff between husbands, wives, partners, kids. To me this is a book for those who really want to to experience rich, fulfilling, fun, loving and even exciting relationships, not just read or talk about them. When I worked the techniques in this book, I changed and so did my relationships. As I followed along with John-Roger, I started to see how the relationships around me were reflecting how I act with and towards myself. Though I knew this as an intellectual idea, I had the chance to test out the simple, yet profound directions given by John-Roger and see my relationships start to reflect more loving, honesty, free give and take. Buy this book - it's like taking an e-ticket ride in life!

Negative thinking can be overt or quite subtle but either way it makes for a chronic, low-grade infection of the mind and soul. This book shows you the way out of the traps of resentment, jealousy, judgement, unhappiness, and despair. Far from being preachy, this book uses common sense along with a brilliant layout to help you to a better life. Whether you are sick in body or mind, you will find the tools in the pages of this book to build for yourself a whole new outlook on life.
P.S. If you can find the companion cassette-tape series read by David Warrilow (now out of print, unfortunately) get them! Warrilow's rich voice bring the pages to life in a wonderful way and you'll find yourself listening and reading or both over and over again!
more but just illusions.
The bottom line - if you strive for knowledge or if you have negative thoughts swimming safely in the ocean of your mind. Have this book, then read it, then apply things you've learned from it in daily life. RESULTS = almost PERFECT

Like Peter, I consider myself to be reasonably intelligent, etc., and yet had been married to a person for 20 years (and tied up in court battles with him for the next 7) who was recently diagnosed with Narcissistic Personality Disorder. He was punitive, abusive, and selfish. I wondered if reading Peter's account of having made a similar series of terrible choices would help me in my recovery.
It did, and I highly recommend this book, and would love to thank Peter in person, if I could find an address for him. Also, like Peter, I was depressed in this negative relationship, so in 1992 I bought his book You can't afford the Luxury of a Negative Thought. Again, paralleling the author, as soon as my depression lifted, I was able to "get out" of the problem relationship. How interesting, then, that as the saga of disengaging reaches it's completion, Peter has again left me some "bread crumbs" to find my way home again.
This book is extremely valuable for anyone finding themselves in the unpleasant situation of feeling ridiculous for having succumbed to a bad relationship.
J-R, the real untold story is still out there: How did MSIA get the copyright? Did Peter McWilliams sell the copyright because he is sick with cancer and needed the money? Did MSIA prevail in court in a legal fight? I have not been able to find out on the internet. Search engines are all linked to MSIA. This reeks of a MSIA tactic to control search engines -- something easy to do if you have enough of the faithful's tithes to spend on endarkenment.
J-R is rotten to the core if we are to believe Mc Williams' story. Yet Mc Williams comes across as being no better than J-R when all is said and done. Mc Williams plays the victim and J-R the bully. The two deserved each as we read of their sick and twisted karmic drama being played out in the pages of Life 102.
I would like to see J-R write "Life 103: What To Do When Your Devotee Writes a Sensationalized Expose On You."
The book is well worth reading and should belong in the library of anyone interested in the history of the New Age movement in America. Personally, the book did its job insofar as it convinced me to stay away from John-Roger and MSIA. I am of the opinion that MSIA has survived David McLane, the L.A. Times, and Mc WIlliams not because of its spirituality, but rather because of the power of its lawyers, a war chest full of money, a PR firm, and the ability to maintain a legal war against to grind its enemies to powder and outlast the interest of the critics.
