Spiritual Warrior - Experience Freedom of Your Loving Heart
The Spiritual Warrior Free at Last, Free at Last THANK GOD, I'M FREE AT LAST

I live in the South, Texas to be exact, we are the buckle of the bible belt. Most of the people here are fundamental about their experience of God. God and the Holy Spirit is experienced through emotional flooding. With one hand they are beating themselves up with how unworthy they are and with the other hand they are pushing down the pain with alcohol, drugs, sex, work and yes, God to take away their pain and suffering. An endless cycle of lack and low self esteem. Statistically, Texas has the highest prison population in the country. Dallas is known as the "divorce capital" of the USA. Country music, which appeals to the emotions, is mostly about "crying, loving and leaving". People here continue to try and fill the emptiness with someone or something outside themselves. MSIA, which teaches to go inside to your spiritual heart, means they would have to let go, fear of the unknown and the layers of shame make the idea extremely painful.

In the nutrition work I do most of the women I work with are in the fundamental churches. They are taught that the man of the house is in charge of their spiritual guidance. They give over to the "man of the house" any right of who they are. Being invisible, having no identity, these women, over a period of years begin to get sick. There is a lot of breast cancer and diseases of the female organs. The men I work with suffer mostly from heart related illness. Taking on the responsibility of everyone in the family and denying their own needs, they too become invisible. With a lack of self esteem, each person is trying their best to put out a "good image". A good wife, a good husband, a good child. There are more plastic surgeons per capita per person in Dallas than anywhere else in the country. The need to be "perfect". Over creating emotionally like a roller coaster, up and down, gets real tiring...I know, been there done that, ain't never goin' back ...I was raised in a fundamental religious family. (Thats another story)

Living in the Bible Belt, I decided to do some investigation work. Where do the Christian churches get their information? In reading various books (if your interested in the books I read I will send a bibligraphy), I found , the teachings of the "Apostle" Paul. The Catholic Church is based on his teachings as well as the teachings of St. Augustine. Further, I discovered both Paul and Augustine's philosophy is based on Socrates and Plato not Jesus Christ.

During the height of Greek culture and philosophy, Socrates was the best known for influencing people with his philosophy. In his Book VII the allegory of the Cave, long before Freud, Socrates understood the workings of the human psyche. Socrates demonstrated that the aim of education was to turn the soul around by changing its desires. Desire having to do with the mind and emotions. Socrates was forced to kill himself because he was very pushy about showing people how they could change their lives.

His student Plato, who was from a very wealthy family didn't need to work. With money and influence he took over where Socrates left off. Paul lived during the same time period and used the philosophy of Socrates and Plato mixed it in with some of the philosophy of Jesus Christ and being a great promoter like some our television evangelist said it was the teachings of Jesus Christ. I also ran across some information about how Paul and some of Jesus's disciples like John also know, as John The Beloved, were in disagreement about how Paul was promoting Jesus.

The teachings of Jesus Christ, as I have come to learn is about LOVING, and forgiveness, worthiness to love and be loved. Taking care of yourself first, so you can take care of others. Each person is in charge of themselves. Free to be just who we are....because we are all from God...

The "Spiritual Warrior" is a tool back to what I feel are the true teachings of Jesus Christ, the Loving Heart. "Seek Ye First The Kingdom Of Heaven and all things will be given unto you. The Kingdom of Heaven is within." Reclaiming who I am has been a long journey. Going inside and peeling off the layers of fear, guilt and shame, to truly know my loving heart. Each and every day is more learning about what that is. Free at last, free at last, thank God, I am free at last. I pass on the "Spiritual Warrior" whenever and where ever I can.

"Happiness is an In -Thing" . Its inside, become a Spiritual Warrior, find your courage to let go and let God, and yes, climb aboard for the ride of your life....

Much better than I expected!
This book was very enlightening to me. It came into my life at just the right moment for me. It has helped me to connect with my inner spirit. My inner self who feels no fear.

I highly recommend it.

A real eye opener!
Before you jump on some revisionist books about Pearl Harbor, like Stinnet's Day of Deceipt, you should get it from the horses mouth! Layton, et al, tell a little known side of the war in the pacific. His opinions of some famous naval personalities like Stark and R.K. Turner will really have you thinking about how war is run when powerful, ambitious officers are running the show. It's a shame that lives had to be wasted while the U.S. got its act together to finally win the war in the pacific, but Layton's tale will give you a new perspective and supports much of what was previously written, like Prang's "At Dawn We Slept", about the debacle of Pearl Harbor and the genius that followed at Midway. Buy it!

CONCISELY
First and major portion of book covering Pearl Harbor is excellent. However, after Layton's death, the book was continued from his notes and descriptions of campaigns after Pearl Harbor suffer in quality by comparison.

FINALLY! The truth about Pearl Harbor, Coral Sea and Midway
FINALLY WE ARE TOLD! From the Man in the know! From the Intellegence Officer of Admirals Kimmel and Nimitz; the truth about the Japanese "blunder" at Pearl Harbor, the truth about the Battle of Coral Sea, the truth about the internal Navy battle over the impending Battle of Midway and the march across the Pacific with never before released Naval Intellegence details.

In this spellbinder Layton breaks his sacred oath as a Navy Officer to reveal how incompetency, infighting and persuit of personal gain at high ranks allowed the Pearl Harbor "surprise" to occur, greatly prolonged the Pacific War and brought the Allied Forces to the brink of defeat in the Pacific.

Layton reveals in chilling detail how Pearl Harbor Commanders Admiral Kimmel and General Short were made scapegoats and cashiered in disgrace, how the Fleet's Carrier task force sortied days after the bombing but was recalled out of fear, how Admiral Nimitz was forced to commit conspiracy and treason to get the 5th Fleet to Midway in time for battle. Layton exposes a secret vandetta by Washington Commanders against Pearl Harbor Intellegence personnel that caused a Japanese cipher change and the terrible effects of the lengthy intellegence "blackout" it caused at the most critical point in the War.

Layton shatters recorded history with a cronological portrayance of documented events as he lived them, by the side of the Navy Admirals who despite incredible odds, heavy losses and fierce opposition led Allied Forces to victory in the Pacific.

This Book is a "must read" for all! This Author's story must not be forgotten! At some risk with personal sacrifice, with violation of Oath, at the end of his life with no possible personal gain his last and greatest service to this great Country was a grave warning to us all;

World War Two showed us the stratigic advantage of airpower and of the Naval Aircraft Carrier. This "portable" airbase brought enormous destructive power to our enemies shore and allowed us to attack his facilities and installations with relative ease. With the modern atom bomb and ICBM the Continents become the bases from which total distruction unparalleled and swift can be wroght upon any Continant with relative ease.

Beware, this is what did happen, this is what can happen, this is what will happen again if we forget!

A Thermoneucular Pearl Harbor, surprise we're gone!

The Little Round Man with the Little Grey Cells
Hercule Poirot was a short, fat, dapper detective who solved his cases by exercising his "little grey cells".

"The Murder of Roger Ackroyd" was Christie's fourth Poirot novel, while "Murder on the Links" was her second. In both Christie adopts the motif of narrating the story from the point of view of someone who undertakes to assist Poirot in the solution of the mystery. Christie introduces the cast of suspects, gives each of them a dark secret and a motive to lie, and piles up the circumstances in such a way that the flying fickle finger of suspicion points to every one of them at some time or another. She compounds the confusion by supplying false leads and deliberatly glossing over hot clues.

In each case Poirot holds his cards close to his vest, tantalizes the reader/listener with cryptic comments, and finds the most inconsequential-appearing facts to be highly significant. Eventually Poirot airs everyone's dirty laundry, explains his chain of deductive reasoning, reconstructs the crime in all its improbable complexity, and gets a confession. The stories are less mysteries than they are sliding block puzzles. Though extremely short on realism, they are long on entertainment value.

Although the BBC radio play had excellent production values, audio cassette may not be the best way to enjoy a Poirot mystery. I listen to radio plays as I drive on business, and I find the Poirot plays hard to follow because of the large cast of characters and the complexities of plotting. Poirot could probably be enjoyed more readily in print. You could then read, re-read, take time out to mull over the complexities, and follow the story much better. Probably the best way to enjoy Poirot would be to read the story first, and then listen to the radio play.

The masterpieces among all her books!
The mystery is beyond our imagination. The background and characters truly victorian, and above all the narrative very gripping! Oh! I am re-reading and every time I enjoy even though I know the mystery! Once again, Poirot at his best with his passion for order and method.

My favorite Agatha Christie story by far!
As a Christie addict, having read all of her Poirot and Marple stories many times over, I can only say that "Roger Ackroyd" stands out as the best of the best. Even now, knowing the ending, I enjoy rereading the book, with all the delicious and subtle (but misleading) hints to the grand conclusion. And to the first-time reader, the ending comes as quite a surprise. The fabled Miss Christie leads the reader down so many lovely garden paths before the perfectly logical denouement! Delicious! The audio version is beautifully performed, and does proper justice to the book.

Fascinating study of a great man.
Wyeth's biography of Forrest stands as one of the best written about him. It is a 'must read' for any serious student of the civil war as it was fought in the west (Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi and Kentucky). While other biographies have been written (such as, "Bedford Forrest and His Critter Company", by Ansrew Nelson Lytle and "First with the Most Forrest" by Robert Selph Henry), they don't have the breadth that Wyeth's book has. Of course, the only biography actually reviewed and approved by General Forrest was Jordan and Pryor's "The Campaigns of Lieut. Gen. Forrest and of Forrest's Cavalry", but this work is flawed by a markedly biased position on the part of the authors and by their inability to access the Official Records. On the other hand, they did interview Forrest and most of his surviving authors and Wyeth drew much of his material from this work. Still, for the definitive story of Forrest's life, Wyeth's book is the acknowledged source.

THE BEST BIOGRAPHY OF GENERAL FORREST WRITTEN
THIS IS THE BEST BOOK I HAVE READ ON THE LIFE OF GENERAL NATHAN BEDFORD FORREST. IT IS WELL DOCUMENTED ON THE POINTS OF INTEREST THAT HAS CAUSED A BLIMISH ON THIS GREAT MAN'S LIFE. IT IS A MUST READ FOR ANYONE SEEKING THE TRUTH ABOUT GENERAL FORREST. IT CLEARLY SHOWS HE IS THE GREATEST CAVALRYMAN OF THE WAR. NO ONE ELSE COMES CLOSE TO HIS ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND VICTORIES ON EITHER SIDE OF THE GREAT WAR.

Excellent history on Forrest!
This book gives exquisite detail into the life of the South's Greatest General! It is a must read for any Civil War enthusiast. I highly recomend this book for anyone interested in the South.

Pacific Pioneers: Japanese Journeys to Hawaii and America, 1850-80 (The Asian American Experience)

Excellent History. Excellent Read...
John Van Sant, a professor of Japanese History at the University of Alabama, Birmingham, has written an approachable and engaging look back at some of the very first Japanese travelers to the United States in the mid to late 1800s.

For the student of Asian-American History or Early Modern Asian Japanese History, Pacific Pioneers, is an invaluable reference that bridges the gap between the broad view of early Japan-U.S. interaction and the Japanese political reaction to it. Many of the popular books that deal with this area of history are concerned with its larger events such as the Perry and Iwakura Missions.

Van Sant's book is about individuals who came to a foreign land, and were instrumental in defining how the Western world viewed a recently opened island nation. Van Sant's scholarship is through and compiles a great deal of information that is often lost in the larger events of the period. Even those who aren't interested in Asian or Asian-American History can appreciate the people Van Sant has researched for their sense of wonder and discovery as some of the first to leave their homeland, which was closed off to nearly all foreign intercourse for over 200 years.

I find the book especially engaging because it examines how Americans reacted to their foreign visitors during a time when man of today's stereotypes about the Japanese culture had not been developed. Also, by examining the way in which the New World was viewed by the Japanese visitors, the reader can see how foreigners reacted to the Western world and found their culture to be exotic, captivating, and at times, frightening. The book is a revealing and honest look at how different cultures are viewed by people that were truly foreign to them.

A book I recommend for anyone who is interested in history on a very personal and revealing level.

A little-explored corner of American history
This is a truly absorbing read. Author John Van Sant casts light on a little-explored corner of American history about which, I'm willing to bet, few readers have any knowledge at all. Some may be vaguely aware that a handful of shipwrecked Japanese sailors fetched up on American shores in the first half of the nineteenth century or that large Japanese embassies toured this country in 1860 and 1871-72. But how many know that scores of Japanese students were living in such an unlikely place as New Brunswick, New Jersey in the late 1860s and 1870s, studying about American institutions as well as "big guns" and "big ships." Or that several young Japanese aristocrats--including a later titan of Meiji Japan--were holed up in a utopian commune, under the watchful eye of an eccentric guru, doing housework and tending grapevines? Or that other countrymen and women of less elevated status, fleeing worsening economic conditions back home, were scraping out a bare living in Hawaii and northern California?

In clear economic prose, thankfully free of academic jargon, Van Sant explores each of these expatriate communities in some depth. (Oddly enough, the author makes no mention whatsoever of the troupes of Japanese entertainers criss-crossing the country during this same period. Even Mark Twain complained bitterly in 1867 about having to compete with a company of Japanese acrobats for an audience.) He also does the historical record a considerable service by freeing some of these pioneers--the "mysterious" Wakamatsu Colony of Gold Hill, California being a prime example--from an encrustation of myth. If I have any quibble at all with Pacific Pioneers, it is that it is too short. Highly recommended!

A Must Read
I think that Dr Van Sant tells a compelling tale of the first wave of Japanese settlers who came to the United States and Hawaii. This book is for anybody who is interested in Asian American History. It should be the first book cracked open for any student who signs up to take any Asian studies class, either in the undergraduate or post-graduate world. I loved it.

This should be required reading in school!
I have read this book 2 or 3 times. I truly feel it should be required reading for everyone, especially people who want to get married, be in a romantic relationship or be a parent. It is full of the most common sense (that's really not so common) suggestions about how to have joyful harmonious relationships with your significant other, friends, family and yourself with loving, honoring and respect. If people read this book and abided by the principles in it, it would be a totally different world. Essential.

A reader-friendly compendium of sound, sensitive advice
In Relationships: Love, Marriage And Spirit, John-Roger draws upon a lifetime of spiritual leadership and his own unique brand of common sense to take a candid and revealing survey of such relationship issues as living with teens, sexual attitudes and morality, single parenting, blocks to communication, man-woman paradox, children and religion, intimacy and sharing, sexuality and spirituality, desire and celibacy, suffering and jealousy, ending a relationship, and more. A "reader friendly" compendium of sound, sensitive, insightful, practical advice, Relationships is highly recommended reading for men and women striving to establish, nurture and maintain loving relationships with friends, family, and each other.

Direct to the Heart of the Matter
There come times in my life when I'm sick and tired of doing the same old thing and experiencing the same old thing, and I'm ready to move or change. I was ready to make a change for how I am in my relationships to others and myself.

In his book, Relationships, I found that John-Roger goes directly to the issues whether it's about sex, sexuality, communicating,day-to-day stuff between husbands, wives, partners, kids. To me this is a book for those who really want to to experience rich, fulfilling, fun, loving and even exciting relationships, not just read or talk about them. When I worked the techniques in this book, I changed and so did my relationships. As I followed along with John-Roger, I started to see how the relationships around me were reflecting how I act with and towards myself. Though I knew this as an intellectual idea, I had the chance to test out the simple, yet profound directions given by John-Roger and see my relationships start to reflect more loving, honesty, free give and take. Buy this book - it's like taking an e-ticket ride in life!

LIKE A MULTI-VITAMIN FOR YOUR MIND!
I read this book at a time in my life when I was feeling very down. I was recovering from a couple of very trying life crises when I came upon this remarkable book. In its pages the origin of negative thinking is revealed along with its effects on our mind and body. As I turned the pages I found myself nodding in agreement as if the authors were revealing something inside of me that had always been there but up to that point had been inaccessible.

Negative thinking can be overt or quite subtle but either way it makes for a chronic, low-grade infection of the mind and soul. This book shows you the way out of the traps of resentment, jealousy, judgement, unhappiness, and despair. Far from being preachy, this book uses common sense along with a brilliant layout to help you to a better life. Whether you are sick in body or mind, you will find the tools in the pages of this book to build for yourself a whole new outlook on life.

P.S. If you can find the companion cassette-tape series read by David Warrilow (now out of print, unfortunately) get them! Warrilow's rich voice bring the pages to life in a wonderful way and you'll find yourself listening and reading or both over and over again!

This is a really wonderful book
I have battled depression on and off for much of my life, and I have to say that this is the best self-help book I have ever read. It is absolutely wonderful. It makes you want to memorize every quote and every precious, uplifting word of wisdom. Some people might say that the things in this book are common sense, but if that's the case, when I look around I see that common sense isn't so common! This book really is a must have for anyone who wants to improve their disposition and feel better emotionally.

A good one
Like any other self help book this too was interesting and most helpful. Unlike other self help books at times this book is very funny too. Writers suggest to have healthy fears such as having sex with gorillas etc. and that all other different fears are not
more but just illusions.
The bottom line - if you strive for knowledge or if you have negative thoughts swimming safely in the ocean of your mind. Have this book, then read it, then apply things you've learned from it in daily life. RESULTS = almost PERFECT

Best study Bible!
I love this Bible - I make sure this is the Bible our church gets for our graduation gifts for the seniors every year - it's also the Bible I bought my wife. The print is clear, and it's a durable Bible with lots of accurate notes.

A wealth of info, a great buy!
This study Bible is one of the best versions out there. It is very easy to follow and understand. It has outlines and footnotes that allow you to apply each verse to everyday life.

BEST STUDY BIBLE AVAILABLE
I am a Seminary student and have gone through many study bibles. However, this work by W.A. Criswell is by far the best in the business.

Life 102: What to Do When Your Guru Sues You
Published in Hardcover by Mary Book / Prelude Pr (1994)
Author: Peter McWilliams
Amazon base price: $19.95
Used price: $53.11
Average review score:

Excellent book for anyone who has tried to leave a star
There is a lot of excellent information in this book for anyone who has been in a cult, certainly. I bought it for a slightly different reason: I wanted to hear how Peter McWilliams explained to himself the incredible stupidity of being sucked into such a bag of lies. I am satisfied with his descriptions, and the book is cheerful, and upbeat! Well worth the purchase price, and I am lucky to have stumbled upon it.

Like Peter, I consider myself to be reasonably intelligent, etc., and yet had been married to a person for 20 years (and tied up in court battles with him for the next 7) who was recently diagnosed with Narcissistic Personality Disorder. He was punitive, abusive, and selfish. I wondered if reading Peter's account of having made a similar series of terrible choices would help me in my recovery.

It did, and I highly recommend this book, and would love to thank Peter in person, if I could find an address for him. Also, like Peter, I was depressed in this negative relationship, so in 1992 I bought his book You can't afford the Luxury of a Negative Thought. Again, paralleling the author, as soon as my depression lifted, I was able to "get out" of the problem relationship. How interesting, then, that as the saga of disengaging reaches it's completion, Peter has again left me some "bread crumbs" to find my way home again.

This book is extremely valuable for anyone finding themselves in the unpleasant situation of feeling ridiculous for having succumbed to a bad relationship.

Tragicomedy At Its Best in a Sick and Twisted Karmic Drama
That MSIA now owns the copyright to "Life 102" is a telling admission that John-Roger wanted this embarrassing book killed and sent to hell. The book is an astonishing expose from Peter Mc Williams, a MSIA insider. While the book dishes the dirt on
J-R, the real untold story is still out there: How did MSIA get the copyright? Did Peter McWilliams sell the copyright because he is sick with cancer and needed the money? Did MSIA prevail in court in a legal fight? I have not been able to find out on the internet. Search engines are all linked to MSIA. This reeks of a MSIA tactic to control search engines -- something easy to do if you have enough of the faithful's tithes to spend on endarkenment.

J-R is rotten to the core if we are to believe Mc Williams' story. Yet Mc Williams comes across as being no better than J-R when all is said and done. Mc Williams plays the victim and J-R the bully. The two deserved each as we read of their sick and twisted karmic drama being played out in the pages of Life 102.
I would like to see J-R write "Life 103: What To Do When Your Devotee Writes a Sensationalized Expose On You."

The book is well worth reading and should belong in the library of anyone interested in the history of the New Age movement in America. Personally, the book did its job insofar as it convinced me to stay away from John-Roger and MSIA. I am of the opinion that MSIA has survived David McLane, the L.A. Times, and Mc WIlliams not because of its spirituality, but rather because of the power of its lawyers, a war chest full of money, a PR firm, and the ability to maintain a legal war against to grind its enemies to powder and outlast the interest of the critics.

A marvelously witty debunking of a true sleazeball!
Peter McWilliams has done the world a great service by writing this book. If only one person avoids the Movement of Spiritual Inner Awareness because of his efforts, his time and trouble (and he's had a lot!) will not have been in vain. His skewering of Arianna Huffington is particularly delicious.
