Very intriguing
I really enjoyed this book. It isn't your typical 'young boy with obstacles must struggle to overcome' because you are never completely sure what's real and what isn't. Are his friends real, or figments of his imagination? I was also left with the sense, at the end of the book, that the apparent conclusion might not actually have been.
If you like the teenage 'misfit with the undesirable family faces the world' genre, and the fantasy genre, this book will be a pleasant if sometimes surreal addition to your library.

I think this was a VERY,VERY GOOD BOOK
My name is David Thomas and I am 10 and 3/4. I read this book. I thought it was extremely good. I noticed that the dog Sandy is the same as Sandy the super dog in "DOG DAYS". I really enjoy all of your books. I saw the book "DOG DAYS" and I thought it would be good and I was right. So that led me to read more of your books. I am thinking of getting a few from the AMAZON web site what would you recommend? Please e-mail me at kthomas@ chipsnet.com

Lucy Peale is an unrealistic book
: Lucy, the daughter of a preacher, is seventeen, pregnant, andnaïve. Her father wants her to confess her sin in front of thecongregation but Lucy flees to Ocean City. Pregnant and alone Lucy meets Jake Jarret, a lifeguard, who takes her in. The two fall in love and decide to raise the baby. This book may only be suitable for high-schoolers only as it deals with teen pregnancy. I found this book to be somewhat unrealistic and that it made teen pregnancy out to be easy to handle.
Amazing Book for Strong Teens
When I walked into my school media center, I had seen this book called Lucy Peale. I thought nothing of it. So, I took the book... The cover drew me, the preview of it drew me.. Before I knew it, I was sitting in my car reading it. This book was so incredibly amazing! It can show how a young girl can grow strong with the help and love of others. In this case, Jake. I feel in love with Jake's character and sense of compassion. I hope there is a follow up to this story. I would love it! And be right there to purchase it. Thanks for a great book!
A Wonderful Story
This is a very great book. It deals with a teen names Lucey with troubles with her family after being raped. Altough she loves her sister she decides she can't repent in her fathers church because she does not belive that she is a Jesabell and that her baby is not a bad thing. After she desides to leave she goes to Ocean City to the bordwalk the only place she knows to go and stays there untill she meets Jake who becomes her friend and then more but they deside to leave sex untill they are both compleatly ready. This book deals with things that alot of teens can relate to and I would recomend it to anyone who like serious books.

Enjoyed it!
In the book Remembering Mog by Colby Rodowsky, it's mainly about loosing a love one and how that affected their life. This book is also about making their own choices. In this book, a girl named Annie just lost her older sister. She couldn't stop thinking about what happened to her. Later on, she had to make her own choices for what she think is best for her. I recommend this book to those who had lost a loved one, especially when they're close to each other. This book might help that person to how to forget that loved one.
Remebering Mog
Annie must come to grips with the loss of her older sister and her mother's denial that Mog is gone. Finally, a book for young adults that is not hopeless and dreadful. Real issues, real struggles, real people yet "Dysfunctional Families in their Various and Nefarious Forms" isn't the theme of the book.
Remembering Mog by Colby Rodowsky
Annie is finishing high school and has reached the point in her life that her sister, Mog, had reached when she was killed. Annie struggles with how she will go forward without having Mog's footprints to follow. She has trouble finding the comfort and support that she needs from her family. However, she is able to deal with her thoughts and fears as she reaches out to Harriet Jeffers, a therapist. I thought the book was great. Rodowsky does a fabulous job describing the feelings and thoughts of the characters. It was very easy to get interested in, and I felt like I knew the characters personally. It has a genuine feel for how one can handle grief so differently from others. NOTE TO TEACHERS: This is an ALA Notable Book and would be appropriate for middle school or high school students.

Love story
"Not my Dog" is not great literature, but it is a darling story. All adults and most children have at some time wanted something so badly that any substitute falls short. Ellie wanted a puppy and when the family took Great-aunt Margaret's dog because she could not have him in her new apartment, Ellie was broken hearted and knew in her heart that Preston would never be her dog. But as happens, Preston turned out to be special.

good story
Wow, I'm the first to reveiw this? What's with that, it's been out for like 10 years. Anyway, I read this when I was about 9 years old. It takes place in Baltimore, where I used to live, and the author signed the copy my mom bought for me. It's a very well-written story with each chapter starting off with a letter written by the main character to her pen-pal she's never met, Jessie Lee (I think that's her name)Tanner (the main character) is very insecure with herself due to a leg brace and not feeling like she fits in with her large family, so she invents a lot of things to tell Jessie Lee. She just hopes her pen-pal will never find out! The book has good characters and a believable ending. Plus, if you know Baltimore, you'll enjoy the references to the areas of it.

The Turnabout Shop
The Turnabout Shop by Colby Rodowsky is a good book. The main character is fifth-grader Ann Olivia Lyons, nicknamed Livvy. Livvy used to live with her mother, Althea, in New York, but now Althea is dead and Livvy has to go live with her mother's friend from college in Baltimore, Jessie Barnes. Jessie Barnes is a plain and sensible woman, nothing like Althea was. Livvy misses Althea and thinks that she will never get along in Maryland. But then she goes to Jessie and her mother Ivy's antiques store, the Turnabout Shop, and also meets Lu, a girl her age who lives nearby. Livvy and Lu become good friends. Livvy also meets Jessie Barnes's neighbors and relatives. She gets along with all of them. But she and Jessie don't get along too well. Will Jessie and Livvy ever feel like family?
Being An Orphan
This book is a wonderful book. It explains how hard it is to be, well, kind of an orphan. Its about a fifth grade girl, who's mother just died of a sickness. Her name is Livvy. Since she does not have Dad, she has to be adopted or taken care of by another family. So she gets taken by a lady named Jessie. Although Jessie is very nice, Livvy still is not happy being her daughter. Jessie and her mother own an antique store called The Turnabout Shop. It is a nice little shop that Livvy sometimes likes to go there after school. Livvy does a lot of fun things with Jessie, including getting her ears pierced, but there is a problem, Livvy hates when people call Jessie her mother. Everything goes fine until something terrible happens to the Turnabout Shop. To find out what happens, read this sad but exciting book. I rate this book a four because like I said before, its sad and gives you a taste of being an orphan, and it is exciting.
When one life ends, another one begins...
After the death of her mother, Livvy is sent to live with a college roommate of her mother's whom she has never met. Her initial misgivings turn to dismay when Livvy realizes that Jessie Barnes is nothing like her free spirited mother. In addition to being forced to move to a foreign city, Livvy soon finds herself in another awkward situation when she is thrust into the middle of Jessie's large family. How can she cope? Through "conversations" with her recently deceased mother, we see how Livvy adjusts to both her life in Baltimore and her life without her mother. I enjoyed the simplicity of the book. The emotions that surround losing a parent and being uprooted to a strange place were dealt with in a real and meaningful way. The book never felt forced and the characters were very easy to relate to. This is a wonderful read I would recommend to anyone.
