Sugar Isn't Everything
I myself am a diabetic, I was searching for answers as to why this happened to me. This book helped me understand things happen for a reason and I am not to blame because of my disease. This book was one of my favorites 5 years ago. Now I'm a senior in highschool and I'm going to use it for Speech Team since I can relate.

What a great book!
I am 21 years old now, and I read this book back in middle school. I still think of it as one of the best, most informative books I have ever read. Although I do not have diabetes, this book helped me to understand so much more about the disease when I was a child, and that information stuck with me. Hey! I liked the book so much I actually came to Amazon.com looking for it...almost 10 years later!

Gotta Read
This book helped me soooo much it taught me how to deal and cope with diabetic people now i know how to tell if someone is a diabetic!!!You should really read this book you won't regret spending your money on this book=:)

On the go mystery
by CVM Dallas Texas age 8.
The book takes place around a lake cottage and on an island. The main characters are a brother and sister. Megan and Sandy are trying to solve a family mystery. There is alot of adventure as they find clues that fit the puzzle. They try to find the biggest clue of all, what is there mother doing. They try to find the clue with special friends Ben and Wolf. The book was exciting and I just wanted to read more and more of it. It is a book for boys and girls or reading it as a family.

Megan's Island
Megan's Island was a great book with lots of suspense.
There was one week of school left until summer vacation and Megan was really excited. Then one night Mom told them they had to pack up because they were moving. Megan was used to moving but this was strange. To make it even more stranger, her mom was acting kind of wierd lately and now she almost seemed scared of something.
At there grandfather's house where they were living everything was going okay until she wrote a letter to her best friend, Annie which her mom told her NOT to do. Then strange people started to come to their house.
This story had a GREAT, shocking ending.
I LOVED THIS BOOK!

Megan's Island- Great Book!
This book is one of my all time favorites. I gave it five stars because it was well written and kept you turning. It is about these two kids who always move, and one night her mom was acting very weird. She said they had to leave now in the middle of the night to go to granpa's cottage up at the island. On from then all kinds of weird stuff happens. There are so many unexpected turns. GO READ THIS!

Perfect for a baby-sitter
From the moment that Darcy set her eyes on the three foster kids, she knew that baby-sitting would not be a "fun" job. Even though the pay was twice her rate, was only for a few hours a day, and Darcy was an experienced baby-sitter, she didn't count on the mysterious things that started happening at the children's house after she took the job. She did everything a good baby-sitter was supposed to do. She didn't let the stranger saying he was from the gas company into the house, and she called the police when the house alarm went off in the middle of the afternoon. All of a sudden, a strange thing happens, and now it is up to Darcy to rescue the foster kids and herself from three dangerous kidnappers.

This book is full of suspense. That's why it's interesting to read. Once you start reading you can't stop. You just keep on turning the pages. Will Darcy be able to save herself and the kids? If you want to find out, read the book and get caught up in the great adventure with Darcy and the three kids.

It's a great book and very exciting!
I liked this book because everytime you turn around something exciting happens! The characters are fit for the book.I liked the main character, Darcy, because in the end she is very brave. This book has exciting, mischievious characters. The baby-sitter,Darcy Stevens, gets interviewed at this "high-quality" house. She gets the job and finds out that the children are pests! The second day as she was finishing making lunch ,when all of the sudden the burgular alarm went off!The police come and search, but there's no one around. The police leave and a few minutes later... If you want to know what happens you'll have to read on!So hurry up! It's to exciting to wait!

Incredible!!!!!!!!!
This is one of my favorite books. I don't usually enjoy this type of book but there is something about the style of writing that that just made me love it!

The most intense and anxious book I have ever read
You should read this book. I would recommanded this book to people who like to read especially mysterys. This book has a lot of action in it. You will never get bored of it. Except the beginning, but all beginnings are boring. I have nothing negative to say about this book.

A wonderful science fiction story for patient kids
As a child, I was encouraged to read, but was warned by my third grade teacher to "stay away from that science fiction." It was not a difficult task; most books in our elementary library were NOT science fiction...if they were, they consisted of green, slimy creatures disguised as humans by day and terrorizing student by night. Naturally, science fiction did not appeal to me at all.

Until I ran across The Girl with the Silver Eyes. To my third grade mind, it was painfully long, kind of hard to follow, but extremely interesting. It is the sole thing that piqued my interest in all things scifi.

Now, as a high school senior and avid science fiction fan, I reread The Girl with the Silver Eyes. For a child's book, it is extremely intriguing. It's science fiction and a suspenseful mystery all in one. It can most easily be compared to a junior version of The X-Files: weird, eerie, yet disturbingly accurate. However, when I was younger, I found the plot boring in many spots, not enough action. At the time, I merely blamed this on my youthful impatience. But even today, I still find the storyline a bit thick in parts, and nearly impossible to continue to the next page. For me to say that reading this book was an intellectual chore is not an exaggeration.

Any child reading this book will quickly lose patience with it, it has so many slow sections. Its surreal plot and wonderful scifi appeal is for the extremely patient only.

Awesome book I read in 4th Grade
I agree with the reader from Florida wholeheartedly! I loved this book when i first found it in my 4th grade classroom "library". I took it home, and never gave it back. Of course, my copy had a girl with chin length hair with her arms crossed and her body turned to the side, and she was in front of a park....but anyway I don't have it anymore:( I think this book is a wonderful choice for young people. I also must add that the Richard Peck series about Blossom Culp is awesome as well (I read it at age 12 and wrote to Mr. Peck who was kind enough to answer me, and all of my subsequent letters to him. He even sent me an autographed copy of his first book because I had a hard time finding it. What a sweet man:)The Girl With the Silver Eyes is adventurous, fun, a great story, please give it to your kids to read, or read it to them. :)

excellent sci-fi/fantasy children's book
I'm envious of kids today who can take advantage of the recent explosion of interest in science fiction and fantasy. Back when I was browsing in the children's section of the library (all right, so it wasn't that long ago), I read everything -- which wasn't much -- I could find that vaguely fell into those categories. This book blew all my prior favorites away. Willo Davis Roberts has that rare gift of telling a great story simply, without pandering or dumbing a book down, yet with all the best parts of an adult thriller -- the main character, struggling to find where she and her telekinetic talents fit in a disbelieving world, must try to separate those she can trust from the people who just want to use her. In her search, she discovers some unlikely allies, including kids "gifted" as herself. As a kid, I loved this book because I immediately identified with the main character, wishing I had a friend like her. That's how real I found the people of this story. My copy of "The Girl with the Silver Eyes" is pretty battered, but I can't wait to pass it on to my children

The Absolutely True Story...
The Absolutely True Story' is about two twins, a girl named Alison and a boy named Lewis, that have an unforgettable vacation with their new next door neighbors. Early in July the Rupes, a family from San Francisco, moved in to the empty house across the street from Alison and Lewis. The family included a boy about the age of Alison and Lewis named Harry, his mom, dad, and two younger siblings, Ariadne and Billy. After about a week, Lewis and Harry became good friends with Alison tagging along sometimes but mostly she played with Ariadne and Billy. At the end of July when the boys had grown very close, the Rupes invited Lewis and Alison to drive to Yellow Stone Park with them. They invited Lewis to come along just for fun, but they said Alison must be willing to baby sit the younger kids once in a while. Alison was delighted and said she wouldn't mind at all baby sitting the kids. Right as the Rupes were pulling out of the driveway to drive for four days to get to Yellow Stone Park, two men from the motor home company stopped them. The two men said there Mr. Rupe was so mad that without warning he just backed up and drove off leaving the two men standing in their driveway. After a few days, Lewis and Alison noticed that the two men from the motor home company had been following them. More days pass and Lewis and Alison begin to become scared because they saw the men snooping around the motor home. Each day the twins became more frightened and they had a good reason to be. This simple trip to Yellow Stone Park will turn into a vacation they will never forget.

I feel as though I could be the Alison in this story. I have a brother though he is older than I am, and I have a younger sister. We both have to baby sit younger children. (I baby sit my sister and she baby sits Ariadne and Billy). In the book Alison sometimes feels overwhelmed by her responsibility for taking care of Ariadne and Billy and I sometimes feel the
same way about taking care of my sister. I also relate to Alison because I have a friend, whose mom lets her eat anything and everything she wants, to say it plainly she is very spoiled just like the Rupe's kids.

The Absolutely True Story' is a very good, exciting, and mysterious book. I had a great time reading it. My favorite part of the book is when the two men from the motor home company were following the Rupes and snooping around their campsite. I kept asking myself "What on earth are they looking for?" This was a mysterious, funny, and very frightening part of the book. If I could change a part of this book I would probably change the scenery. I would have the Rupes, Alison, and Lewis take a plane to France to see the sites and have people from the motor home company follow them around Paris where it is more exciting and much larger.

I recommend The Absolutely True Story' because it is a well-written, mysterious, and adventurous book with lots of funny and scary scenes. I'd also recommend it because it actually relates to everyday life in the real world. I'd recommend it to 10-12 year olds because it would be hard for a younger kid to comprehend all the words in this book but the book might be a little boring for kids over 12. The Absolutely True Story' is a very good book. I really enjoyed reading it, and I recommend it to anyone from 10-12 looking for a great, mystery book.

Good story...great author
This book was really fun to read. The plot was great, and the characters were easy to identify with. It was suspenseful, and the ending was fun. I liked how the characters worked together to solve this despite their differences. It was really neat.

Very exciting and dangerous,it was very good.
This book is about a very "lucky" boy who gets invited to go to Yellowstone Park with the Rupes! There's just one thing,he doesn't know what's going to hit him! It all begins when Mr. Rupe can't drive worth beans in the 4 parking space long R.V!The things in are normal life probably wouldn't even be close to this but not including that it was a "very very" good book!

The Kidnappers by: Willo Davis Roberts
The Kidnappers
By Willo Davis Roberts
Sep.20, 20002

I read the greatest book this summer! The Kidnappers by Willo Davis Roberts takes place in the modern day about a boy who is kidnapped. A bully from school that always beats on people is standing outside the school waiting for his chauffeur and he is kidnapped. Nobody believed the only kid that saw the kidnapping because he was always making up stories. All of his family thought that he was making up another story but he told them to call Willie's parents. When they called Willie's parents their secretary said that they were busy and that was strange because they were never busy. Joey thought they had gone to dinner or someplace else.
My favorite character in the book is the bully Willie. The reason I like him is because he is the main victim and everything is happening to him and he is the one that has to go through the pain and the suffering. Another reason I like him is because he sounds like he is really nice on the inside and doesn't really want to bully other people. The main reason I like him is because he is one of the main characters in the book and I like the main characters. Ii don't like that he bully's other people because I don't like when I get bullied, so I know that all of the kids are probably afraid of him.
In conclusion, I liked the book because I like mystery books. The kind of reader that would like this book is someone that enjoys reading mystery books that you have to think about and try to solve on your own. Also, the kind of person that would like this book is a person that doesn't like to put a book down when they pick it up. I would like to recommend this book to anyone that is willing to read it because it is a really good book and anyone would like this book even if they didn't like to read mystery books. This book is sort of challenging to read, because if you don't pay good enough attention, then you will get lost and you won't know or understand what you are reading. This book is important to me because it shows that if you do bad things then you will have to pay the price. This book is also important to me because it shows me that if your always lying or making things up then when something really does happen, nobody will believe you. This is the greatest book that I read this summer and I hope that you will read it too.

AWSOME book
I stummbled over this book at school when i had to do a report on any book at school.and the title the kidnappers just sounded amusing and i could never get my eyes off of it!im sure to get an A on my report!

Don't Hurt Laurie
Don't Hurt Laurie is about an eleven year old girl named Laurie. Laurie's mother beats her and does some horrible things. However Laurie covers up her mother's cruel marks by saying she is clumsy and bumps into walls, falls down stairs, and cuts herself with knives. She has told these excuses this all her life. Laurie's mother, whom she calls Annabelle, tries very hard to move Laurie to houses and apartments at least every other month, so Laurie doesn't have any social interactions with anyone her age. One day Annabelle goes too far! Will Laurie ever get the courage to tell anyone about Annabelle? Will Annabelle stop abusing her?
I enjoyed reading this book because it is about a girl that at first is weak and then becomes stronger. It saddened me to read about the things Annabelle did to Laurie. However while reading this book I realized how lucky I am. I have a family that loves me, I go to a great school, and my friends and teachers respect me. I couldn't ask for anything more.
I would most definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves thrilling realities. This book is like a roller coaster of life, with all its ups and downs.

Don't Hurt Laurie
Don't Hurt Laurie is about a girl named Laurie who is going through something terrible. Laurie's father ran away when she was little and Laurie's mother, Annabelle, takes all her pressure and stress out on Laurie by beating her. Laurie has kept a secret that Annabelle abuses her for a long time. One day Annabelle goes too far and Laurie can't take it anymore. She has to tell someone about how she feels.

My personal experience from this book was really great. I have never felt like Laurie. She has gone through so much, and has kept her secret for as long as she can remember. I enjoyed the book because it showed me how lucky I am to live in a community where I am safe, unlike Laurie. Will Laurie ever get help? My favorite part of the book was when Laurie moved and found a new friend who she tells many of her thoughts to. My least favorite part was when Laurie couldn't decide whether or not to tell her secret to her new friend, George, because I wanted to tell her how she should handle this situation.

I would definitely recommend this book to someone who enjoys exciting, breathtaking stories, that doesn't bring someone to a world of fantasy, but to a world of reality.

Don't Hurt Laurie
Over the summer I read a book called Don't Hurt Laurie by Willo Davis Roberts and the illustrations are by Ruth Sanderson. This book takes place at Laurie's home. This novel is one of my favorite books that I know of so far. Some of the characters throughout the story are her father, her brother, and her mother Annabelle. Many interesting things happen throughout this book.
My favorite part of this book is when Laurie stands up for herself one day because Annabelle her mother goes way too far with Laurie. She bosses her around and beats her, and also cuts her on purpose. However Laurie is finally desperate enough to do something to save herself, however her mother physically abuses her. Will she escape, and will anyone believe her story, if you want to find out pick this book up and start reading it.
I did like this novel because it was very interesting, and the author puts you into the book it makes you want to read it more and more. The kind of reader that would like this book are people that are physical abused by someone in their family or a friend, and I would recommend this book because it was very enjoyable to read and I hope you will think so too. This book is important because it tells you how people feel if they are abused by someone or their parents. However it also tells you how people feel when you get abused. However it tells you that you should go tell someone what is happening to you, because after you tell someone you will feel very confident of yourself, and you won't have to worry at all anymore of what is going to happen next

Book review for View From The Cherry Tree
The View from the Cherry Tree is mainly about a kid named Robby (Rob) who witnesses a murder while in a Cherry tree inhis yard next door. After a short disagreement someone with large hands shoves the Crabby Mrs. Calloway out the window. Now, with his sisters wedding coming up in a few days and relatives crashing in their house unexpectedly he is trying to convince the police, his parents, and anyone that it wasn't an accident. He is determined to prove that she was murederd. Soon this isn't his only problem. Someone is trying to shut him up from trying to tell anyone the truth. Pots mysteriously "fall" by themselves, almost getting hit by a .22, and his chicken is poisoned. Someone is out to get him. This book has a lot of suspense in it for mystery lovers. I thought it was a very good book because it was well written with lots of detail. If your not very interested in mystery books maybe this one will change your mind. when I read this book in class I couldn't wait till the next day when we would read it again. If you pay close attention you may even find out who the murderer is before Robby. If you like looking for clues and reading mysteries I recommend this book. It's also a really good read aloud for classroom teachers who are looking for a good book. I liked this book.

Awesome book
I think that this book is a real good book.I recommend this book to every person who likes to read. What happens is there is a boy who climbed up his cherry tree one bitter cold mourning and sees the nasty old lady who lives next door get pushed out the window. At the end it started getting so intense that I started trembling. If you read it I bet you'll love it too.

Great mystery story
This is a great story, one of Willo Davis Roberts best, and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a suspensful tale.

Rob's family is very pre-occupied with his sister, Darcy, and her upcoming wedding. Rob pretty much stays out of their way, up in his favorite spot, a limb in his cherry tree. It is there that he sees old Mrs. Calloway get murdered. No one likes the old woman, and everyone seems to think it was an accident. But Rob knows it wasn't and he proves it too. Who was it that murdered old Mrs. Calloway? And will Rob be the next victim since he saw a distinguishing mark on the killer's body? Read the story and find out. I have read the book several times and enjoy every time even though I know what happens.
