Wonderful, though more text than I wanted
I was very pleased by the large number of high-quality reproductions. Still, as far as I'm concerned there should have been *more*. The book contains (a rough count) about 280 pages containing text or mostly text, out of about 630 total pages. However, I'm very happy with the book.

Best Rauschenberg book ever!
Best book, I have ever bought

Excellent well presented book
The problem with art books is that they go out of print too quickly. This is a beautifully presented book on Rauschenberg that was released with the big retrospective at the Guggenheim in 97/98. Barnes and Noble still had copies avaiable as of Sept. 99, so check there -- they were even discounted!

Great history source - western/central Connecticut railways!
A great history book filled with wonderful stories arranged in a line by line, depot by depot format with maps, mileage and a photo from each depot. If you're a steam engine buff this book is a must. Many of the photos are from private collections, you probably won't find them anywhere else.

A real find
A real find for those who love poetry about nature and humannature--and humor: "I took a book with me to bed--and on the lastpage that I read--I found a little bookworm dead. It makes me feel so insecure--to find a worm could not endure--the current taste in literature..." RLB

Any one who can read should read this book!!
This book covers what should be the most important Issue to all people in the human-rat race. It's an attempt to make people realize how fast we are using up our natural resourses.
I can only hope that this book makes it to the top 10 best sellers list, so that it gets read by a large segment of the population. It's a vary important message and it's easy to read in a short amount of time, and once you read it it would be wise to give it to a friend and have them read it and pass it on to someone else.
Why can't an American president stand up, and run on smaller population and less consumption? Humans will gain less and less with over-population.

Beyond Earth Day
"Beyond Earth Day" gives an amazingly thorough look at the state of our planet, then and now. Discussions of issues are well-referenced and Gaylord Nelson courageously presents honest solutions to problems that many people take pains to ignore. He offers history, wisdom, and guidance in an age when "environment" is an important issue to Americans, yet many are unaware of the seriousness of the issues our water, air, soils and biodiversity face. An America united by the knowledge offered by Senator Nelson has the capability to change the course of catastrophic events involving the very elements needed for life. Share the intelligence of this important book with everyone you know.

Earth Day Founder Recommends State of Environment Speech
Earth Day founder Gaylord Nelson holds no punches in this book. He brings the question of the ability of the planet to sustain today's consumption-driven American lifestyle into clear focus in "Beyond Earth Day". His report card on the planet is dire but believable.

The book provides a strong case that more dire consequences are up ahead for all of us, unless the current political leadership in Washington abandons its "business as usual" mentality regarding the environment and begins to recognize the urgency and gravity of the situation we are getting into with regard to air, water, land and climate.

"It is time for the president and Congress to reach an agreement that sustainability is the challenge of our time and design a plan of action for the future... There is no room, nor time, for partisanship. The president and Congress should face this issue in a unified and cooperative way and should persist until we reach the goal", laments Nelson.

Nelson recommends that the president of the United States deliver a "State of the Environment" speech to the American public and the world which outlines environmental challenges meriting the nation and the world's immediate attention, and the challenges that lay on the horizon. Such an address, Nelson says, is what is needed "to start public dialogue on the serious environmental problems facing the country and world today". People everywhere need to realize that maintaining the environmental sustainability of the planet is the most important responsibility we all have, because all life on Earth is interrelated, and because our economy is inherently dependent on the environment's "underlying resource base of forests, water, air, soil, and minerals".

Competent Accounting Education
Being a teacher, I find this book is very useful for beiggners as well as for teachers. Basically, In my opinion, accounting can never be understood without concept and principles. This book satisfies all the basic requirements of learners. This book is written in simple and useful business enviornment. It depicts all the concepts and attracts it`s users. The accounting treatments are stated in a simple way. One should can easily understand the basic purpose of financial and manegerial accounting. Really this book is remarkable!! I found this book is very useful. I have not words in my mind to describe it`s actual utility. But one thing is that there is a lack of problems in few chapters, if that could also be included then I am assure that the major problem of practice should be solved. This book described in a simple way, How the accounting performs as the "Language of Business".

Excellence of Accounting Education
I find this is one of best textbooks available in the market. I love reading it very much.

review accounting
It is a very good book but there is no solution for the problems

No theory what so ever
The authors seem unaware of the fact that theory guides our understanding. There are no "objective" facts, yet the authors present all their findings as such with almost no reasoning attached. This is both arrogant and ignorant. The authors display no grasp of theoretical advances in Accounting and I recommend getting a book that has a better exposition of principles as more than practice

wrong item
I was going to get a book with a ISN number of 0072316373...But today, I got one with 0070412901...
So I need you send my money beac to my account, and give me a well reason why you let the seller mail me a totally different book again, It is the second time I get an item with wrong number

Gets to the point
When I first took Financial Accounting, I was using Prentice Hall's Accounting textbook by Hongren. My prof was real anal-retentive and required us to read every chapter. To ensure this, he would quiz us on the contents of each chapter before we covered it in class. I spent so much time trying to wade through the excessive verbage in that book that I ended up not having any time left to do actual problems or sharpen up my practical skills. As a result, I ended up with a D in the class although I understood most of the concepts very well. When I took the course again over the summer, I had a different professor and he used this book. What a breath of fresh air! Meigs and company explain the accounting concepts just as thoroughly as Hongren but with about half the verbage. I breezed through my summer course and got the highest grade in the class. This book is an excellent teaching tool for beginners and would also make a great reference guide for more advanced students.

Accounting for Dummies
Too much time is spent on problems that do not require such exposition -- and more complex and real-life problems are avoided. This study guide is not much help.

Garbage!
Jan Williams, Dean of the Business School at UTK, is known for neither his creativity or knowledge. This book demonstrates that his reputation is well deserved.

Excelent paperwork material!
This is an excelent suplemental book to "Financial Accounting" 9th edition. It gives all of the papers needed for all of the problems so that instead of spending your time drawing tables and charts, you can simply fill in the blanks on the special forms provided for each problem...

Below average text
Poor coverage of concepts and poor exposition of examples.

B-O-R-I-N-G
ELEMENTARY. BORING. NOT CHALLENGING. MISSES SEVERAL IMPORTANT ISSUES.

The authors could do with some refresher courses -- they seem really over the hill!

Not engaging
Introductory Accounting texts are not rocket science. This text covers similar gound as others, probably in a below-average fashion as it is extremely boring and fails to elicit student interest. There is no new ground or any theoretical breakthroughs. It would have been nice if the text had addressed some issues of current concern to managers and accountants -- such as issues of fraudulent ethics and international accounting. Jan Williams et al. seem to be unaware of current issues bothering accountants, but it is probably too much to expect anything cutting-edge from a book of this type or by these authors.

Another mediocre book by Jan Williams
This book was OK, 10 editions ago when there were few competitors. However, currently there are several introductory Accounting books which handle the subject matter in a more topical and more interesting fashion. Skip this one!
