I LuV iT
In this story there are 3 girls and each has magic in her and has to us there magic to save a wild life preserve and help magical animals that live in the perverse too. This book was so good I cant wait to read the next one a read other peoples review and they like Adriane but I like Emily and Kara...

The first book in an enchanting new fantasy series.
After her parents divorced, twelve-year-old Emily left her Colorado home to move to a small Pennsylvania town with her mother. Pennsylvania is so different from the western mountains, where she had lived her entire life. Emily has no friends in her new town and spends her days helping her mother, a veterinarian, at their kennel and animal hospital. A horribly wounded animal with strange burns is brought to Emily's mother by a sullen, unfriendly girl who lives in the woods at an old animal preserve. While walking the dogs at the kennel, Emily stumbles upon the preserve, and a magical glade full of beautiful plants and animals. She also meets the girl, Adriane, and discovers she's not so bad after all. They meet a talking ferret named Ozzie who has come to this world to find the three humans who can help save the creatures of his world. Unfortunately, it seems as if the third human may be the mayor's snobby daughter, Kara. Emily and Adriane will have to put their dislike of Kara aside to save this magical place. This was the first book in an enchanting new fantasy series. I can't wait to read the next book once it is released.

The best so far
This book is my apsolute FAV. I love it.
If you've read the first two books you know that Adriane and Stormbringer are really close and you know that Storm thinks she's the last mistwolf. Key word: thinks. Well, Storm isn't the last of her kind. A pack of Mistwolves drop in for a visit at Ravenswood. Then they leave taking Storm with them. Adriane has to talk to her one last time. So she gets Kara to get the Dragonflies to open the portal. Instead of just talking to Storm she gets pulled into Aldenmor! Where she meets Zach a boy who never saw another human and his griffin. Zach has some secrets that just might mean saving Storm. She also meets the sorceress, sees Fairy Glen and the fairymentals who suceed in confussing her even more. and Meets a Dragon! But will that be enough to save Stormbringer?

This is a must for fantasy lovers!
All I can say is wow.
Rachel Roberts has created a fantastic fantasy story, weaving it together from the last two books in the Avalon: Web of Magic series, Circles in the Stream and All that Glitters. each one features an exciting climax and interesting writing style that bring the charecters of this book into real personalities and real life.
Three girls, three powers, three mages, three unique talents. Emily Fletcher, Adriane Charyde, and Kara Davies are three girls who coundn't be more different- or the same.
Emily is a animal- crazy redhead, who has a fun nature and a love of pets. Her mom owns a vet clinic, and Emily likes to help out there for fun. She also gives her mom a hand in the Pet Palace, an animal hotel, and it was three dogs, Jellybean, Biscit, and I forget the third one's name, who first lead her to the Ravenswood preserve. Emily posses a special healing magic that makes her a favorite among the creatures at the Ravenswood Preserve. Emily and her mom just moved there, so Emily hasn't made any friends yet.
Adriane is a spunky, modern girl who doesn't have any friends. She never wears anything but black, and her parents are artists that travel around the world, so she lives with her grandmother, who is the caretaker of a wildlife preserve. Adriane is the first of the three to discover the animals and the secret of the magic. She is granted with the title of "warrior' and, indeed, is strong and brave. Adriane is bonded with a lone mistwolf, Stormbringer. She is really lonely on the large peice of land which is her home.
Kara Davies is spoiled, rude, and popular, a "barbie" in Adriane's words. She is the mayor's daughter, and is interested in fashion, clothes, phones, and boys. She is caught between her popular friends, and Emily, because she Adriane don't get along very well. Her title in the blazing star, and she doesnt have a power yet. Even though the magic likes her and reaches her, she still thinks she's better than Adriane and Emily. Her ideas for the preserve are good, though, and help alot.
An elf that's been transformed into a ferret, Ozzie, is sent by fairymentals from another world, Aldenmoor, to find three human mages. He helps them discover a portal, a path between the two worlds. There goal is to live in a place called Avalon, peacfully, away from the dark sorceress who will spread the black fire and kill all in Aldenmoor.
Stormbringer, Adriane's wolf, is the last of her kind. But soon she learnd there are more mistwolves in Aldenmoor, and joins them.
Adriane is heartbroken, but she can understand her friend's decision. So secretly, she follows Stormbringer through the portal to Aldenmoor, and is amazed by what she sees. She meets a young boy, Zach, and his griffen. Her adventures never end in Aldenmoor, but soon they might- her magic lets her meet up with the dark sorceress, and it may cost her her life.
Don't be suprised- this author isn't afraid to make anything happen to Adriane, anything.
Also- for those who love this series.... visit there website, its really cool!!!

BEST BOOK EVER!
This book was the absolute BEST! Adrienne is my favorite character! It focused on her and Storm, the best characters in the series! When Storm goes back to Aldemor, Adrienne follows; and ends up in the Shadowland where she meets a lot of people who change her life:a human magic user named Zach, A baby dragon, the faeriementals, and the dark sorceress...

Adrienne is the Warrior, Emily is the Healer, and Kara is the Blazing Star. Why Kara, the snobbiest and least-liked character has the most powerful magic is anyone's guess. She gets so jelous whenever Adrienne and Emily use their stones( did you read Spellsinger?). I would give this book more than five stars if I could. I can't wait untill Trial by Fire comes out! I'm going to get the first copy!;)

another great one
finally, one where the man is not worried if the woman can handle it. i love all the books i've read by nora roberts (20+) but i have noticed one thing most of them have in common and that would be that the man feels he cant move forward because he may be wrong for her, or shes not ready...hasnt experienced enough in life yet....ackkk!!! most women arent idiots and know what we can handle! in rachel, finally, we are able to read that! zack doesnt back off for fear of damaging her in anyway thankfully. is this just because shes a lawyer? an educated woman?? i hope not because as i said before, most woman know what we can handle and what we want! anyway, great book (as usual) by ms. roberts. it pays to go to used book stores and hunt the older ones out..::smile

A wonderful window into a rarely told story
The full and rich diversity of New York City is on display here in the carefully selected, organized, and documented photographs. In addition, the authors' introduction provides a very helpful context and explanation of the "culture of solidarity" among working people from different industries, unions, and ethnic backgrounds. It's a wonderful window into the lives of ordinary working New Yorkers, their trials and tribulations, protests and passions, successes and strikes!

Excellent for quick reference
This is easily formatted to find answers quickly. I leave this next to our contact info on the kitchen counter for our babysitters. In case there is a problem, they don't have to try to find something on the bookshelf. It's really geared for the common emergency problems with children which can be hard to find QUICKLY in an overall medical guide to illnesses - who wants to read about strep throat when there's a black eye to treat? It's easier to read than the Red Cross books too. I'm giving to my sister as a shower gift - this type of item is often overlooked!

Be your child's BEST health advocate with this awesome book!
Written by a medical doctor, a naturopath and a pediatric nurse, this comprehensive A-to-Z quick reference guide gives you what you need, when you need it, without having to waste any time wading through all the fluff.

At-a-glance options for the most common childhood ailments are provided, along with a guide to common symptoms, dosage guidelines for herbs and nutritional supplements and of course the huge yet easy to navigate A-to-Z listing. Excellent suggestions for each illness are provided in 9 different categories of healthcare:

Conventional Treatment
Dietary Guidelines
Nutritional Supplements
Herbal Treatment
Homeopathy
Acupressure
Bach Flower Remedies
General Recommendations
Prevention

I pass by all the others on my bookshelves and never fail to find just what I need in this wonderfully written and thorough compilation. Between my conservative, conventional husband and my own more holistic instincts, Smart Medicine for a Healthier Child greatly pleases and helps BOTH of us.

With 470 oversized pages, this tome is HUGE and a great bargain even at the full ... retail price. I can't tell you how thrilled I was when this book arrived in the mail! In addition to the main meat of the book, the authors thoughtfully provide a plethora of other helpful information to assist you in caring for your child, divided into three separate and neatly organized chapters.

Part One: The Elements of Healthcare
You'll get the basics (and then some) on all of the above listed 9 categories of healthcare ' history of each method, how and why they work, common treatments and how to administer them properly. There is even a ten-page section on pregnancy and your newborn as well as a helpful checklist for assembling a comprehensive home health kit.

Part Two: Common Childhood Health Problems
The nitty gritty of this book which features the A-to-Z listing and suggestions.

Part Three: Therapies and Procedures
So you might possibly be interested in using acupressure to help your child who keeps wetting the bed, but have no idea how to properly do this. This section of the book will give you brief instructions along with an illustrated chart of common acupressure points on a child's body. You'll also find other helpful information such as CPR procedures and illustrations for infants and children, first aid for choking, how to prepare herbal treatments (baths, teas, ointments, tinctures, etc.), relaxation techniques for your child, and more. The small section at the end of this chapter, on 'time outs', is the only part of the book that I do not fully agree with or recommend. The rest of the book is so incredibly valuable that it is easy for me to simply overlook these one and a half pages.

At the end of the book you will find a helpful glossary, a chart of common medical abbreviations, a guide to recommended suppliers, a listing of resource organizations and even a listing of toll-free hotlines on a number of parenting issues.

An excellent companion to this book is 'A Parent's Guide to Medical Emergencies: A quick and easy-to-use handbook to the most common childhood accidents', written by the same trio of authors/experts and presented in the same easy A-to-Z format. Between these two books, my husband and I have become deeply educated about our son's health and have never felt more confident about the choices we are making on his behalf. If you are an involved parent, Smart Medicine for a Healthier Child is one of the best resources you will ever get your hands on!

Excellent resource for parents encouraging natural health.
Smart Medicine does a wonderful job listing multiple approaches to common childhood ailments. The authors list conventional methods of treatment as well as natural and homeopathic methods. It has been helpful in my household in the decision-making process of what to do when one of our children show symptoms of distressed health. I recommend it to all parents who are sick of giving others control over their child's health.

Very thorough- prevention, cure and comfort
I appreciate the range of health care options in this book, from allopathy through osteopathy through herbs and nutrition, even venturing into quackery with homeopathy. :-) Sometimes I take immediate action after consulting this book, such as when my daughter's symptoms were accurately described as scarlet fever, and sometimes I continue with palliative care, as when breastfeeding a vomiting child.

The authors encourage you to examine your options, when appropriate, and when to seek immediate care such as with poisoning, shock or polio. I have never had the impression they push any method of health care over any other, but rather want the parent to have all the options. Read the introductory sections on all of the modalities they offer so you fully understand the rationale behind them. Read the home safety tips too; most are pretty obvious to parents, but there may be something you overlook; don't we all?

I'm lucky to have very healthy children so I don't need the specifics a lot, but this book is well written enough just to have on hand and read out of curiousity such as when the neighbor's child has roseola or just to tell your child what it really looks like when someone breaks a bone.

Just as good as the others
This has got to be one of the best Avalon books yet. Emily now befriends a magical unicorn with musical magic and faces creepy harpies also wtih musical magic, destined to kill the unicorn. A story of friendship and a tale of a magical world, and an intruiging plot.

My favorite of the series
Ihave read all of the avalon books that have came out and this is probably my favorite. One reason is that the character that it mainly focuses on is my favorite character. it talks about Emily Fletcherk and how she and the rest of her group finds and saves a unicorn named Loraleigh. It's realy exiting and is full of adventure and comody. Not to mention it has a great story line.

This book Rocks!
I had to read a book for a reading project in school. I choose to read The Secret of the Unicorn(Avalon Web of Magic,4). I started to read the book and got really into it! I loved how Emily and the Unicorn had a magical conection! It was really tuching when Emily wouldn't give up the Unicorn! I love this book and recomend it to anyone who loves books!

GREAT BOOK
This book is so comforting for brides who have either called off their wedding or thinking about it. I am a bride who has called off her wedding and this book has helped me through a lot of hard times, just reading that others have gone through the same thing that you are going through just makes you feel a lot better.

There goes the bride
Truly an amazing book!! I recommend that anyone who has gone through a break-up, divorce or broken engagment read this book! It is extremely responsible in it's attention to detail and the many stages of trauma one goes through in a situation like this. Rachel also gives many examples of what other almost-brides wrote in their surveys to her and it is so helpful to hear such a varied opinion of others' experiences. Please, if you are going through any type of break-up or relationship trauma - READ THIS BOOK!

Must read book for those with doubts.
There Goes the Bride is a great book for anyone having relationship issues. Whether or not you have cold feet or something more serious, this book is for you. The stories from the Almost Brides are great and really give the feeling that broken engagements and relationship troubles aren't a rare phenomenon.

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone. It's an easy read that's full of information, humor, and resources.
