This shorthand system is popular in England but apparently not known in the USA. I was pleased to
find it very easy to learn, relative to the Gregg system which it resembles in form. Although I am still learning,
I've been able to take notes much quicker than usual simply by substituting Teeline symbols for the 20 or 30 most common words (a, the, from, with, etc), with the rest written in longhand. The system does require lined paper, since symbols have different values on the line or above it. (For example, the "t" sound is represented by a short dash above the writing line, like the cross of the longhand letter "t", while a short dash on the line represents "d"). A sentence written in Teeline has the graceful appearance of Arabic writing. An added advantage is that your notes will be almost secret, since Teeline is currently unreadable by most people in North America.
