Excellent way to learn trig!
I used this textbook with a high school independent study course that I took through a university. This book taught me more about mathematics than any previous book I have studied.

As I said, I used this book with an independent study program, but it was absolutely no problem learning the material. This book teaches you trigonometry in an easy-to-understand and thorough way. I didn't have a teacher, and I didn't need one with this book.

This book is excellent for learning trigonometry, and a great preparation for calculus. If you want to learn trig, buy this book!

This is a great book. Algebra made easy with this book.
Hello. I am an 11th grader in high school and for my algebra II class we are using this book. It's too bad it's not available (I could not buy it) but the book is great. I have understood all the terms used in algebra and I can solve any problem on the book. It has great examples and good definitions. If you are a teacher in look for the book to give a class, buy it... it is great! If you are a student, just like me, and you want to buy it, you won't regret paying what is costs. Happy studing fellow students! Temple of Souls.

Good starting place
I found this book to be a good beginning point for mathmatical studies. Having been a life long "problem math student" this book has made great inroads into my otherwise bleak mathmatical future. It starts at the most basic aspects of Algebra, Geometry, and polynomials finishing up in radical equations.

From the student point of view, I have to say I have enjoyed this book far more than the previous 2 I have had the displeasure of having for a textbook, and I would reccomend it to others for ease of use, learning, and economy of time.

On writings of Errico Malatesta
Errico Malatesta is one of the most brilliant anarchist thinkers of all time. This book, Life and Ideas, is a great compilation of many of his writings all in one. This is one of my most cherished books and is STRONGLY recommmended for all.

This is an excellent text for High School & College Levels
This text is well written and easy for students to follow. I would have given this book 5 stars except for a few proofreading errors. As of today, the solutions manual is not yet available, which would certainly support the text. This book can be used in consecutive classes for Into & Intermediate Algebra.

Very thorough and a very logical order of presentation
I used this book to teach my community college algebra I and II
courses.
I found it to be so logical in its presentation, that I
quickly yanked my daughter out of her 7th grade math class (using the incredibly poor Connected Math Series -- see Mathematicallycorrect.com) and decided to home school her in math using this book. She is at the end of 8th grade and by following a program of 20 problems a night she is now completing 10th grade math. She now loves math and understands it thoroughly. There are enough problems to reinforce all concepts.

An unnecessary revision to previous editions.
This is an easy to use book, but I've checked the third and fourth editions, and except for different equations, the content is the same. My instructor said it made no difference which edition I used, so I went with the third one.

More than your average coffee table book
The author was given access to RKO records that had been unseen for decades. This book combines the beautiful photos of any number of Hollywood studio coffee table books with the insights of a great storyteller and cinema historian. Highly recommended for the film fan - wherever you can find it.

Drop the class if this is the text-book.
To date, this is the worst textbook I have encountered in my math classes. In fact the instructor uses this book for homework assignments only as the text itself is useless.

To start with, I found the explanations to be badly written, wordy, and confusing. Seems as though this book was designed for a refreshment course rather than for people who are going over the material for the first time.

Then, the examples: there are not enough of them, and the examples do not support the exercises at the end of the section, so if you work out the exercises at the end of the section and encounter a problem, you just don't have an example to help you out.

It continues with the student solution manual on line: due to the lack of examples the student's solution manual is the next tool to try to figure things out. However, the manual appears to be put together almost as an after thought. It is very unorganized, uses shortcuts to the solutions that are sometimes difficult to figure out.

In summery, this book makes it difficult to learn on your own. It does not help deepen and re-enforce your understanding of the material covered in class. From my experience so far, there are much better books that make the time learning more efficient, productive, and fun.

Best text I've ever seen in 10 years of teaching!
Aufmann's text is excellent. The problems are clearly organized and worked in detail. Aufmann really makes a serious effort to help the students understand the material. His applied problems are very interesting and the illustrations and helpful and numerous. I learned algebra from an old text by Dolciani, and I think Aufmann's book is much better. If I were learning algebra for the first time today, I would hope that my instructors would choose Aufmann's book rather than any of the other sorry excuses for algebra textbooks that are available today. Trust me when I say: ALL ALGEBRA TEXTBOOKS ARE NOT CREATED EQUAL. AUFMANN RULES! and if you give the text half a chance, you will be able to learn algebra from it.
