Awsome
This book is awsome. I use at work and in Internet Security Cert Class (160 Hrs). I has enough info to cover all aspects of Firewall Admin & Implementation. I highly recommend this book!

An IT department's dream
This reference manual provides a clear and easy to use comprehensive guide to the various products on the market, and the advantages of each with respect to the platforms on which we operate our systems. Since heading up my company's IT department I have been looking for a resource like this to answer all of my questions regarding the installation and structure of firewalls.

Comparative & Informative
In this day and age, no book can really be a "complete reference", however, it does go into great detail in describing various firewalls and firewall technology, therefore, its a great tool in assessing your own installation to determine how you can improve it. It's a little disappointing it doesn't come with a companion CD-ROM.

Great resource to address behavior problems
This book is a fabulous resource for anyone working with children or adults who display inappropriate behaviors. Special Education teachers, administrators, Behavior Specialists, Counselors, Psychologists and people providing direct care will benefit from the hands-on tool. The book gives sample Behavioral Support Plans (Behavior Management Plans) derived from an excellent Functional Assessment Interview (FAI) tool. Readers will learn how to target the problem behavior and provide measurable objectives to address the behavior. A "must have" for anyone providing support to students or adults with behaviors and/or MR/DD.

Thorough; Easy to both read and implement.
I use this text in my college course on "Behavioral Assessment and Positive Behavior Support" for beginning special education teachers. It breaks down the process of completing a Functional Assessment and Functional Analysis in an easy-to-understand manner. The examples and the forms included are extremely helpful for all levels of behavioral intervention.

AWESOME!!! The most complete yet practical guide!
As my school district has been learning how to conduct functional behavior assessments, this is the book we keep passing around and referring to. It is practical, useful and the information is research based.

Beyond Paul Starr
This is an excellent piece of analysis that looks at where we are, how we got here and where we are likely to go. The authors have done a fantastic job of outlining seven major factors that impact the health care industry (consumerism, public policy, information technology, etc.), and the four scenarios at the end of the book provide a great framework for doing your own crystal ball gazing. This book sort of picks up where Paul Starr left off. A must read for any health care executive who plans to remain an executive in health care over the next 5 - 10 years.

An accolade for "Beyond Managed Care".
This excellent treatise on the possible future path of Managed Care is a benchmark guide for all of us who are involved in healthcare. Of particular interest are the four examples of "Scenario Planning" which are offered. The reader may challenge oneself by imagining additional, or alternative, scenarios; particularly in view of the current stock market volatility as well as a new national presidential adminstration.

Sixties - Uncut
This superb piece of publishing gave me an uncensored participants view of the sixties which I was unable to attend due to my date of birth. I found the photos revealing and the letters/conversations imtimate. The contents of this book will be useful for historians both cultural as well as musical. Thoroughly recommended for anyone whose interests fall within any of the following music, the sixites, photography, the Beatles, The Rolling Stones or any other significant musician from that period.

Memories and Meanings of Civil War
If you want to find out what a tremendous event was all about--famine, pestilence, war--read the poems written about it. Ever since Homer, or the book of Judges, war poems have been written to tell us what happened, to whom, why. Richard Marius's fine selection, with his introduction to it, opens today's reader to the Civil War's horror, pathos, loss, and the emotions which are easy to forget, or worse still, to romanticize. It's a broad selection, from "John Brown's Body" and "Dixie" to today's meditations, in Derek Walcott's "Arkansas Testament," on the legacy of hostility toward blacks, North and South: the Civil War, to Walcott, is still to be won. Meanwhile a selection of photographs brings those terrible four years even closer. Even at a remove of 140 years, this collection of poems allows us to be moved by them and the passions which still haunt all of us.

Induction: Processes of Inference, Learning and Discovery (Computational Models of Cognition and Perception)

A must for knowledge workers!
This book should be 'the bible' for everyone involved in knowledge management processes. Holland, as one of the complexity theory founders, decribes the essentials of how complex adaptive rules, in relation to the variability of the environment, determine knowledge dynamics and learning capabilities.

Key message of the book is the way that processes of induction, both cognitive and subcognitive, determine rule making, rule adaptation and environment modeling.

With this work Holland (et al.) was the first to close the gap between cognition, complex adaptive systems and knowledge processing. He also provides a sound computational base for the theories presented, opening possibilities for implementation of 'the induction theory' in real world applications.

You will find where we are.
Owning a double status as a medical practicer, especially an anesthesiologist, and a chief in the Union of Kaohusiung Medical University Medical Industry, I was often confused between the general practice of health care for patients and helping my medical team or members in union strike with our administers for improving our working conditions. Where is the appropriate answer or reference for me to explore the health care system or industry filled with confliction and hope. The diversity of notion from Albrecht GL and those specialist in social studies in health and medicine, tell me how to converge wisdom from our ancestor and courage from union members to fight with the inequable and conservative medicine society. Medical quality, which both health care workers and people have looked for long long ago, has just become a vague term under efficiency of management but for make money. Patients lost their autonomy of body and health care workers sacrifice with their mind and physical vigor to accomplish the so-called medical science. This book is good for those who want to comprehend the changing medical society and health care system, and advantageous for me to precipitate the experiences as a anesthesiologist and the union cadre when I was fired by the engagement committee of Kaohsiung Medical University Hospital in 2001.6.8.

Explains complex philosophical insights without jargon.
Too often Marx and Engels are reduced to philosophical caricatures in order to serve an author's own agenda. Richard Schmitt's book is noteworth for his careful analysis of the enduring issues and insights of Marx and Engels. I enjoyed this refreshing reminder of what all the fuss was about.
