BRILLIANT & HONEST!
This book isn't a "how-to," but rather a thoughtful dissertation on "what-is." It deals honestly with the conscious and subconscious decision-making process inherent in mating. As both a man and a person, I am grateful to Dr. Remoff for writing this book.

An inspirational, poignant , yet extremely upbeat memoir!
I absolutely loved this book. The way the writer has woven in anecdotes from her childhood ties her present situation, dealing with ovarian cancer, to her past and gives much depth to her journalistic memoir. One line in the book, very early on, is a quote from her sister, "The trouble with you is that whatever you get, you pretend that's what you want." Remoff approaches her year battling cancer as a gift she was granted to fully appreciate her life and the people that she loves. Her descriptions of her grandchildren and life in rural Osprey Lakes are truly wonderful. One can almost taste and smell the offerings of the leek and ham supper described in the last chapter, but more than that, Remoff has cut right to the heart of life and human emotions. I laughed and cried and would strongly recommend this book to anyone. It is not about cancer, but about the perseverence of the human spirit.

A wonderful, uplifiting account of life, cancer, & recovery.
Heather Remoff is a remarkable observer--of nature, of her neighbors, and of herself as she encounters and overcomes cancer. This book captures the essence of a small town, its natural and social world, and Heather's ability to draw strength from both. This is a wonderful book and a wonderful read!

Most beautiful book I've read in years.
February Light is the most beautiful book I've read in years. This memoir of Heather Trexler Remoff's year of contending with cancer is not a depressing book about illness or dying. It is a book about living richly in connection with community and the natural world. Remoff's philosophy of life goes well beyond the "glass half full" approach. She sees and describes the poetry and beauty of that fullness in a way that makes the empty half of the glass truly insignificant. Remoff's voice rings true and clear throughout this jewel of a book. You will laugh and cry and know that you are getting the real thing.
