I just bought the Inspirational Anthology CHRISTMAS THREADS, and decided to read the last novella in the anthology from Barbour, first. I was touched by the sweet story of newlyweds, Elizabeth and Joel Evans, who spend their first Christmas together in the small house they call home on the Nebraska prairie. Our heroine, Elizabeth, tries desperately to overcome the harsh winter and many other obstacles in order to bake a traditional holiday dessert for her husband. Will she be able to bring a little bit of a Boston Christmas to the Nebraska prairie? Will she find the ingredients to bake the holiday cake his family had been eating for years? Talented author, Janet Spaeth shows us her wonderful sense of humor throughout this loving Christmas novella. Along with a happy ending, she has included a wonderful recipe that I'm going to bake for my husband, even though it's not Christmas yet. Thank you, Janet for your emotional and humorous story...and for including the recipe! I can't wait to read the other three novellas in the anthology.

These letters were from those who were miraclously blessed by the Allen's Heirloom Bible. Each one that was received a candle was lit for the altar at the church. In the end there were seven (7): 1. From a grateful wife wife whose husband found peace and forgiveness. 2. From a man delivered from drunkeness and despair. 3. From a young mother just making it to care for her baby girl. 4. The politician puts his future into the Hands of the Savior. 5. A doctor's guilt and forgiveness. 6. From the father whose lost prodigal son was found. 7. The last, from his wife, Sarah who after her death encouraged him through her letter. She wanted to be remembered for her ministry. Reminding him how their lives have been blessed. both learning that the most difficult sacrifices bring the greatest blessings. The Lord brought a miracle to all the sadness. Wherever the Bible may be who ever will find it. Would they ever know it's worth? David believed his place was there in the Hollow. There would be sorrow but like the old hymn goes..."Peace Like a River attendeth my way...." that make the burden light. David continued to live and serve the people in the Hollow until he passed on the following spring. When his son, young David followed his steps ironicly gave his first sermon at his Dad's funeral. The Hollow called him the next "Preacher David." He was to stay and live as his father lived. The 7 candles still sat in the church. Everything from his childhood to the house he grew up in. thre on the mantle a letter inscripted, "To my son, Welcome Home." He reminded young David of the Heirloom Bible it's true worth and that his legacy were the seven letters. They represented a great truth. They reflected in the Allen's heritage in the choices they made and the lives they touched. The 7 lighted candles signified how God had used theBible to change lives. A rememberance of it's good work. And it's lesson in the work of the Master. The light you bring is not yours, but God's. Young David knew what to do. He returned to the church, walked up the center aisle, smiled and placed a shining new candle on the altar. Such a beautiful story of hope, sacrifice and inspiration I'd recommend to anyone.
