Good read with poignant undertones.
If you are looking for a fun and interesting commentary on the "evolution" of our current educational system, you will enjoy this book. It is tongue in cheek while hitting the mark about trends in the educational system. This book comments on everything from religion to marriage to economics to afterschool programs.

The characters Wayne and Peddiwell are wonderful, especially after they down several tequila daisies.

Don't let the 1959 date fool you.
Don't let the 1959 date fool you. Or the reference to curriculum. We have yet to learn and employ the lessons this book provides in education, in the military, in the analysis of clinical trials, and in socal policy. (Aren't we about to build a multi-trillion dollar missile system to keep out knife-wielding terrorists?)

One of the best books on education!
Paleolithic education will still be fashionable in the 21st century if educators of today are not going to do some reflections.

Worth it for the Pictures and Painting Alone
As an active duty Captain I was given this book by my father who is an Army Colonel. A great tabletop/bookshelf book with a history of the army which is enlightening, particulary the many photos and captions. The history is the chapters themselves is somewhat simplistic and "politically correct." Some of the Army's less glorious moments are conviently written out or glossed over or sanatized rather than dealt with in a forthright manner - i.e. the Indian wars, Civil War (southern generals are pictured but not discussed in depth), Bonus Marchers, etc. This doesn't take away from it being an excellent primer on the Army, its history, organization, values, and goals.

The many included paintings from Don Stivers, Rick Reeves, Mort Kunstler really make this edition shine. I think nearly every US Army Stivers print has made it into this edition. If you love military art this is a great value.

Four out of five stars for the sanitized P.C. history of the army. Five for the illustrations, paintings, pictures, and nice binding of this edition. Highly recommended for anyone who wants a well illustrated U.S Army history.

The Army
This book is an excellent source for anyone interested in military service history. My hats off to BG Nelson, General Sullivan, and General Shinseki for a great book. This brings to light events with which the Army is involved. Think about it, the Army brings in names like Powell, Shalikashvili, & Shinseki. All three brought in their own histories that greatly impacted the way the Army does business, and how it creates opportunities not for just a few, but for everybody wishing to commit to military service. I salute the U.S. Army for a great historical record.

A pleasant and informative read.
As someone who knew the late Adolf Galland and the authors, this book is a most honest representation of his life in both war and peace. The importance of his strife, both in the air and on the ground with Hitler and Goering, as well as his post war success are inspiring. A book that should be read by all who enjoy reading about the human experience.

An excellent book
A very fascinating and interesting book. From the time he grew up in Westerholt, Germany and entered the Luftwaffe, and his activities after the war, was very descriptive and very easy to read. It did not become bogged down with non essential details that tend to make biographies difficult to read. I would recommend this book to anyone

Fossil Hunting- Hide and Seek for the New Millenium
I can remember pouring over the pictures in this book, using my book light, long after the final lights out call from my parents. I traveled back in time, imagining dinosaur growls and prehistoric seashells. By day, I would wander the acreage on my Grandma's farm, scouring the weedy earth for the slightest hint of ancient rock or dinosaur footprint. I wanted my school-age children to enjoy the imaginative art of archeology and paleantology and immediately remembered my favorite book, Fossils: A Guide to Prehistoric Life. I was delighted to see that it was still in print with the same exciting drawings. I immediatley ordered my copy! I then decided to order a copy for my kids! This is a great book that will encourage your children to look beyond the video games and satellite channels and into the fascinating world of the ancient past.

Only For Beginners!
This little guide is the best choice for beginners and children. Book gives the reader an idea about what a fossil is, where and how they can be found, and some information about major fossils. All the pictures are hand drawn illustrations, so that they are not very detailed but still OK for kids and beginers. (I liked it when I was young!)

great intro to the Wing-T option package
Personally, the more technical a book is, the more I like it. This is especially true in this installment of Tubby Raymond's series. Although many coaches will not use the playnames or the language of Delaware, it is good to see the package's internal logic explained fully. This is a great introduction into the triple-option offense and a flank-attacking philosophy can make any defensive coordinator have an instant panic attack. It complements the rest of the series and is a must-read if you want to truly utilize the wing-T.

Most comprehensive resource on freshwater mussels in Texas
Bob Howells is "The Mussel Guy" for Texas. This book, co-written with Raymond Neck and Harold Murray, is the most comprehensive publication on the status of freshwater mussels in Texas. This is a valuable resource for aquatic ecologists interested in mussels, which are a conservation concern due to declining abundance across the state. This guide presents species accounts with black-and-white photographs on each species present in Texas. Descriptions, geographic distributions, and ecological information is included. Introductory material covers everything from mussel anatomy and behavior to collecting gear and commercial uses. The guide is indexed and fully referenced. Several pages of color plates in the appendix are a nice extra. No self-respecting student of Texas mussels should be without it!

The "Bible" for Ophthalmic Technical Personnel
I have been in the eye care profession for nineteen years. Over the years I have read and collected many professional books to continue my education, and expand my knowledge of the eye and it's function, . I refer to "The Ophthalmic Assistant" far more than any of the others books in my library. I use this book to prepare for lecture presentations, as well as hands on teaching and workshops for staff and students. It is the primary book I used to study for my C.O.A. and C.O.T. JCAHPO certifications.

Welcome documentation of missionary activities
Mary E. Cochran presents the story of Harold S. Jones, who in 1921 became the first American Indian bishop of the Episcopal Church. While much of Jones's narrative is in the third person, whenever possible editor Cochran allowed Jones to present his story "in his own words." Raymond A. Bucko and Martin Brokenleg's introduction does a good job of contextualizing Jones's story. The volume sheds considerable light on missionary activities among American Indians in the 20th century and offers welcome documentation of the complex interactions between Christian missionaries and Native peoples of the Plains. Choice, vol 28, no. 7 (March 2001).

Let this book impact your life !!
What a find this book is!!! Having spent time this summer working on the Pine Ridge Reservation among the Lakota, I was thrilled to read a book containing not only historical facts, but "real life" detail. The joy, humor, sorrow, endurance, and faithfulness of this man of God (and those whose lives entwined with his) truly touched me. This book may be sucessfully used for historical, theological, sociological, or devotional purposes. Make sure to read and reread Fr. Deloria's (Tipi Sapa) testimony concerning Jesus, several times. It is the most compelling witness I have ever heard. It is no wonder that the little one, who listened to this wise man speak, grew up to be a Bishop.

A good resource
I found this book is a great resource for new wing-t coaches. The drills are explained very well and can be easily implemented. There are many drills which are not specific to the wing-t but many that are.
