Girls Rule!
Book provides a good look at popular sports and women athletes. It puts women's achievement in perspective based on the time period, as well as the athletic achievement of the event. It covers some of the great women's sporting events familar to most readers (i.e. World Cup Victory), but also tells the story of lesser known athletes and events.

Book covers many of popular sports, but does not have any stories on less popular sports, such as field hockey or volleyball.

This was an easy read and provided many "feel good" moments through remembering/reliving some of my favorite athletic contests and athletes.

Big Boy Basketball
I really liked this book. It was about people who made it in the NBA and told about their lives. Most of the people I read about had really hard lives, but some people had easier lives than others. One of my favorites was Reggie Miller. He had braces on both legs for the first four years of his life, and he also had an open chest cavity, but that didn't stop him from making it into the NBA. This was a great book and I recommend reading it.

Good complement to other Tar Heel b-ball books
The Dean Smith era of Tar Heel basketball has been well documented in other publications, as has the Frank McGuire era to a lesser extent. What I enjoyed about this short book are the stories from the early years (1910-1940's), as I had some brief knowledge of UNC's successes during that time, but did not know of some of the colorful characters and anecdotes from those years. People think winning the ACC b-ball tournament is hard (and it is!) but imagine having to beat five teams in five days to win the Southern Conference tournament! If I have one complaint, it's that some of the facts are repeated in multiple anecdotes (e.g., we don't need to be reminded over and over that George Glamack's vision was impaired). All in all, a nice complement to other books about Tar Heel basketball.
