The culmination of Brian Quinn's work on managing innovation
Quinn has long been among the absolute finest academics at helping real world managers understand the best practices in the world for managing & generating innovation. In earlier works he brought to our attention such groundbreaking concepts as the role of chaos in innovative organizations, the implications of our shift to a services based economy, and the rise of intellect or human capital as the critcal resource for competition among companies. His newest book may be his most useful to date. With his usual meticulously fact based research Quinn not only lays out the emerging tools, techniques and approaches the world's leading companies are using, he also provides breathtaking evidence of the real world performance gains that are available. The sections on software paradigms, "beyond teams" organizational approaches, and knowledge systems deserve especially careful reading, in my opinion. As usual, the biggest problem with Quinn's work is the sheer density of important new ideas makes consuming this book and putting it to work a significant investement. As a private investor, I will suggest to the executives that I work with that they make the time.

The only reference you will ever want on Shakespeare
OK Shakespeare fans, this is the one reference book you will ever need for all you would ever want to know about the Bard. It covers everything related to Shakespeare minus information on whether he wore briefs or boxers. (Everything else, though, is covered here--trust me!)

And one thousand pages for $15? C'mon, this is well worth the price of a pizza! Of course, this is not something you would read word for word, but I have used it more than once to help me understand a play that I was about to see. However, you need to set aside the better part of an hour to read the article on the history and background of any one of his plays. There is also plenty of info on his other writings, including the sonnets. Besides visiting the reconstructed Globe theatre (which I have had the privilege of doing), owning this book is the only other requirement for the serious Shakespearean student/fan.

My sole complaint is that the lettering is rather small (is is 7 pt or 8 pt? my eyes couldn't tell--ouch!). But hey, what do you expect for $15? A 2,000-page book?

Best Reference Book for Shakespeare's Literary Terms
If you want a comprehensive understanding of Shakespeare this is a must buy! I used this book constantly while taking a Shakespeare class. I have already reccomended it to numerous others and they found it just as useful. I'm now on my second copy because I wore the other one out!

Vast knowledge in very digestable form
As frightening as the volume of the book might see, it is written very well and it is very contemporary with the topics discussed in.
The book is divided in several sections with general theory and implications disussed first and with some real cases presented afterwards. Each case is usually backed with some questions to think about and to extract the essence of it. The complete book feels like being a student in the class with authors performing as teachers (as they also do sometimes).
Concepts of strategy are extremely tricky. It can hardly been negotiated if there is a strategy or if you just got to have the feeling or if there simply are people who earn 1 million US$+ a year that turn into gold everything they touch and you can't run a serious business without them. This book will help you understand that strategy exists, will teach you how to define it and set it through and how to predict the future and react on it. But as real life is, many things can happen. You get the driver's licence after you learn the basics of driving. But no one can tell after you get the licence if you will get involved into the crash and when.
Many people expect from such books that they will get a broad pavement covered with roses to walk through their careers on simply by paying some 70 US$. How naive they sound sometimes. The pen alone doesn't write a book, it is just an instrument to success, behind which stands an enormous human effort. This wonderful book is only an instrument to avoid some crashes of company in your career. If it can therefore win you a job or a mere 100 US$ raise, it has paid back heavily, don't you think?

A good book
This is an important and recent strategy book. I recommend it for MBA students and managers.

Excellent business book
This is the kind of book that everyone who wants to be a business administrator should read. It is a compilation of diferents articles most of them from HBR and each unit has some real cases which explain the theme better.

Very good book.
I managed to read it throughly and study most of the cases presented on this book. This book is a very actual source of information to learn and expand existing knowledge. I give 5-stars due to the fact that it is rich in its contents.

In this book, James Quinn writes about several members of his family, among other subjects. He describes them with love, humor and respect. The poems written to Pat, his wife, show a real flair romance. Two of the poems commemorate the marriages of his sons. What a wonderful welcome to the family for the two lucky brides. Every one of the poems is a joy to read.

Excellent
This is an excellent book of case studies from all realms of business. It gives real life examples of some true; yet, unbelievable situations that have taken place with instructional design. Great learning tool and the examples are concise enough that you can read it quickly and have plenty of time to ponder about what you have just read. I would highly recommend this book for anyone learning about ISD or for ISD's that would like the opportunity to experience new situations while applying ISD tactics. Great Book!

A brillant work which should be read by all OEM executives
Quinn's tome intellectually addresses the macro-economic trend of moving manufacturing, especially business-to-business durable goods, to a strategic enterprise model which instead of selling goods, will sell services that imbed the product that they manufacture. The intensity of Quinn's work is formidable! It has the same "feel" of a Peter Drucker work. ...which is a compliment to any author. This is not light reading....but it is worth every minute of effort

James Joyce's Dublin

Joyce's Dublin Through the Eye of a Fellow Dubliner
Edward Quinn author and photographer captures the everyday life of the people in the same manner as James Joyce himself. Quinn uses a reporter style collecting in his images what Joyce called 'epiphanies'. Quinn roamed day until dusk not only caught notings of words and phrases, he caught the incidents of the way the Irish live and the atomsphere of the places as Joyce saw it. Selected writings from Joyce's works, 'Dubliners', 'Ulysses' 'A Portrait of the Artist As a Young Man' 'Finnegan's Wake' and the autobiography 'Stephen Hero' creates a spiritual manifestation of Quinn's photographs. The book also commerates the annual Bloomsday to celebrate Joyce's memory and his contribution to his Ireland he wrote about.

A must for all Coaches who want to Improve!
The science of coaching Tennis gives a detailed approach to coaching. It covers a wide spectrum of areas from drills, strokework, fitness, and mental efficency. I like the advice the book gives on what the attributes of a coach should be or could be. It gives examples on how to move players forward to the next level in a logical step by step manner; moreover covers areas which many coaching manuels leave out. The research is first rate with a high level of experience both practical and real. I liked the points which Groppels makes about the fallacys of the game which are around us all the time! The reality which he provides makes sense. The tips concerning the Ideal Performance State which is provided in the latter stages of the book can only help in performance. This book is aimed for Coaches who want to progress further than the old fashioned methods. It is a heavy read so you really need some prior experience to respect the information provided: both playing! and Coaching to a skilled level. This book is not for social players; moreover geared towards those who take pride in there performance.
