Finally - a super simple cookbook!
This is really a neat book! Just like the title says, all recipes contain 5 ingredients, some even less. The main chapters are: Appetizers & Beverages; Breads, Brunch & Breakfast; Soups, Salads & Sandwiches; Vegetables & Side Dishes; Main Dishes; and Sweets. There is a page to take notes next to the main dish chapter, plus the main dish chapter gives suggestions as to what side dishes and/or desserts to serve them with. The last half of the main dish chapter is entitled "Your Guide to Left-Over Turkey, Chicken and Ham" with recipes using up the leftover meat you might have. There is also a couple pages in the Sandwich chapter that gives "new and different combinations" for sandwiches, a page listing 6 "special sandwich spreads" and a basic hamburger recipe along with a page and half of creative ways to spice up the average hamburger. All in all, I think this is a really cool book, despite the fact there are no pictures, especially if you are really busy or don't want to take the time to fool with long complicated recipes!

Cooking With 5 Ingredients
Perfect book for everyday household. Recipes are easy, quick and delicious. Not a lot of shopping required. Recipes the whole family (even the kids) enjoy. I highly recommend this one for every home.

We wore our first copy out
We've owned a copy of this book for many years and use it constantly. In particular, we love the recipies for scones and for pancakes. The book was revised since we got our old copy (formerly called just "Muffins"), but as far I can tell, most of the changes are visual and don't affect the recipies (for example, some art work was removed). They should put it out in hard-cover.

A handy and well loved resource!
I'm purchasing my second copy of this book - the first is well worn due to repeated useage. Whether you're interested in wholesome eating using ingredients such as wheat flours and honey, or if you're just looking for great muffins, nut breads, etc., this book covers it all. I've received rave reviews of my Banana Bread and all of my muffins thanks to this book. The authors provide a 'Quick Mix' recipe for ease in making recipes often. You'll find recipes for everything from pancakes, popovers, coffee cakes, biscuits, savory dinner breads as well as the muffins and nut breads. ENJOY!

A fabulous evocation of both the Arctic & female camaraderie
Barbara Quick's novel draws you in with its promise of an adventure story set in the harsh Arctic wilderness, and this it certainly delivers, with marvelous descriptions of hard-won survival in the stark and surreally beautiful Alaskan tundra. But it is much more than a high adventure tale in the Jack London tradition: tucked within Quick's page-turning episodes of deadly storms, hungry bears, and fatal river crossings is one of the most memorable evocations of female friendships you will ever read. Add to this her many haunting images, such as birds taking their first flights and white-night sunsets, and you have a book that will hasten your reading to the end but remain in your mind for a long time afterwards.

Grab some tea and curl up...won't put it down!
Whew! A real testament to the ability of women to see themselves in a different light when they courageously attempt new adventures. I know this book is out of print but anyone who is interested in good reading should try to track this book down for their library! Guess you could call and beg from the publisher? Superb writing...Barbara's talent holds you to every page. Talk about your surprise endings! Makes you feel good to be female and cultivate any bit of bravery you might have hidden under your curled and sprayed hair. Puts a perspective back into your ironing...enjoyed this so much I would recommend it very highly! Makes you want to take a trip where you don't have to worry if your makeup is smudged. Waiting for the sequel...where does Tay go from there?

Excellent book for adult education
This book is an excellent text for those people who want a speaking ability in Spanish. A cassette tape is available to help the student learn pronouncation quickly. The book does not emphasise grammer. The book requires a teacher for its best use. The book's vocabulary is very pratical and covers activities at restaurants, airports, hairdressers, doctors, etc. good book for those who never learned english grammer

The most useful pocket-sized guide I've found
The Internet is my primary source of calorie information these days, but recently I needed to buy a printed guide to take on a trip where I wouldn't have Internet access. I wanted a small book (remember those little booklets they used to sell for a quarter at the supermarket check-out counter?); it didn't need to show calorie counts for packaged foods, as those are almost always on the package; and it didn't need to include information about fast foods, which I rarely eat (and those change constantly anyway). I looked in several bookstores (both large and small), and this was the only book I found that fit all my requirements.

In general, I've found the book extremely helpful, but it has a couple of flaws: (1) Foods are grouped into sections according to type (e.g., Dairy or Vegetables), and then into various sub-classifications within each section. Sometimes it's hard to figure out where to find a particular item (the Soups, Stews, etc. section is especially confusing). (2) The cross-references aren't always helpful. I looked up "focaccia" under Breads, and was told "See Pizza," but under Pizza they just list "Italian bread type," not the bread by itself (which is more often used for sandwiches than pizza). It would have taken no more space to give the calorie count than it did to give that worthless cross-reference! (3) There is NO INDEX, which would have solved Problem #1. Still, in general this is a great little guide, and I hope the author continues to improve it in future editions.

Every recipe a gem.
There is no waste in this little book. The general information on muffin baking is precise and informative. The recipes are unique, but not off the wall--in contrast to most one-item cookbooks, every one of them is appealing. Definitely try the Pumpernickel Raisin Muffins. They are a great breakfast treat. This is definitely the one book to have on this subject. Also try Totally Teabreads by the same authors for the same consistent excellence. Can't praise them enough!!

easy, practical and good to eat!
I have a lot of cookbooks on my shelf, but this tiny volume is one of my favorites and packs a lot of punch for its size. I have made the blueberry and banana muffins. Both were excellent. The value of this book is outstanding.

The best muffin cookbook ever... except for the sequel!
You can count on all the recipes in this book being tried and true. My copy is held together by a rubber band because I use it so much. The corn muffin recipe makes the best I've ever had (I add just a little extra sugar, and sometimes use buttermilk) and the cappuccino chip muffins are fantastic (try adding toffee chips). Be sure to try the new "More Muffins" as well as the other books in the series -- Totally Teabreads, Simply Scones, etc. All are reliable.

Sorry. so so
If you are senior resident or higher in emergency medicine or internal medicine, this books seems to be too superficial for you. And most importantly it didn't reflect fully 'guidelines 2000 for CPR and ECG'- milestone in the resuscitation medicine: various opinions, arguement and final consensus on the basic life support, newly changed tachycardia algorithm, management of atrial fibrillation, amiodarone in pulseless VT,VF and so on- in you wanna see more exactly, do 'guidelines 2000 for CPR and ECG' and annals of emergency medicine appendix booklet printed in 2000. all that changed will affect and change text sooner . but on the other hand, this book has nice advantages - easily readable and well-organized, detail explanation of pitfall and pearl in basic life support and good discussion themes and self-test question. Recommend for starter , ACLS instructor (manual) or physician not related with resuscitation field.

Buy this book for your ACLS class!
I am an RN and I recently passed the ACLS course given at my hospital. It was a two day course that was more of an overview of the information than a teaching session. I work on a floor with very sick patients, but we rarely have a code situation. I wanted to take ACLS in order to feel more comfortable when a code does take place. If I had not done as much preparation before the course as I did, I doubt I would have passed. This book helped me immensely to prepare for the class and understand all the information needed. Deffinately get this book before the classes take place, because there is so much information in the study guide and you don't want to go into information overload. As far as I know, this book contains the most up to date information from the ACLS authorities. Get this book and Dale Dubin's "Rapid Interpretation of EKGs" for your next ACLS course, especially if it is the first time you're taking it. Good Luck!!

Better than the AHA book
I am an ACLS and ACLS-EP instructor and highly recommend this book. Much more details than the AHA textbook, has an index, and is well written. Actually has a picture of WPW arrythmias, discusses Cardiac Glycosides as well as other things that an effective clinician needs to know. Honestly, if the AHA would let us, I would use this as the text instead of the official one. Unlike the official text this one is clear, has EKG's, and is helpful. If you are teaching ACLS this text is a MUST. If you are taking, this text is extremely helpful. If you have this, and read this, you will do much better than the rest of the class when it is time to test.
If I could give this more than 5 stars, I would give it a 7. (The AHA textbook is a 2)

A great gift book
My mother bought this book for me after I got married, and it is great for busy families. The recipes are simple (and easy to jazz up if you so desire), and the food is straightforward and tasty. My mother-in-law saw so many recipes she liked, she purchased her own copy!

Recipe Hall Of Fame Dessert Cookbook
I have read the review from the reader in Philadelphia, Pa. that stated what an odd book this was. But having gotten several other Quail Ridge Press cookbooks that have become my favorites, I decided to see what this person was talking about.
After trying several of the book's desserts, I have to say that every one is a winner! The recipes read well, have easy-to-follow instructions, and rave-review results. The titles of some are not "European-cuisine" perfect, but these recipes came from small communities all across America from people who used packaged mixes sometimes and started from scratch sometimes, have never set foot in a cooking school, and maybe don't title things just right. But the results are outstanding! It's a tribute to hometown America cooks. The Philadelphia reviewer should stick to gourmet cuisine. This one is perfect for everyday people who want to make delicious desserts that will bring rave reviews. I LOVE this cookbook! And so will you.

Recipe Hall of Fame Quick & Easy Cookbook : Winning Recipes
Gwen and Barb have done it again! They've published a cookbook that lives up to its name - so many quick and easy recipes that I still have pages earmarked with recipes to try. Coming up with a menu that a family of six will enjoy, yet be easy on the pocketbook and fast in the kitchen, is challenging. Quail Ridge Press made it easy with this one.
