Zionist Connection: What Price Peace

Arab and Jew.
_The Zionist Connection_ is written from the perspective of an antiZionist Jew. The author takes a look at the situation in the Middle East, the conflict between the Palestinians and the Israeli Jews, and places the blame on the state of Israel. The book basically tries to show that support for Israel is contrary to America's best interest (as they were defined in 1978 when the book was written) and is also morally suspect. The author contends that a single special interest group, the Zionists, have wrapped America and its leaders in a stranglehold in their attempt to maintain an "Israel First" foreign policy. The author distinguishes Zionism from Judaism, and he views Zionism as an idolatrous usurper. By appealing to emotion and memories of the Holocaust and cries of "antiSemitism" this single group of Jews has basically forced the United States into this position. The author contends that much of the press is Zionist controlled and that it is by appealing to "Christian guilt" that these Jews have gained their position of prominence. The book concludes with a section on the wars between Israel and the Arabs, as well as a discussion of such events as the U.S.S. Liberty attack.

... The gory details of the brutal killing of a Palestinian child are spelled out in the chapter "Terror: The Double Standard", but the details of Palestinian terrorism are totally suppressed by the author. Nevertheless, the book is highly interesting and worth reading for the author's perspective on the Middle East, even if it is far too idealistic.

Someone please reprint!
This book is of immense importance. Only a Jewish critic of Zionism could tell the terrible truth about America's blind support for Israel. It is astonishing, especially in the wake of the atrocity of September 11th, to find this book so hard to get hold of. The University of Oxford, with its great libraries, does not have a copy, so I was grateful to Amazon for enabling me to buy one for myself. A look at the copyright page suggests the explanation. Four editions were published by a small U.S. publisher, which went under in 1989. To produce an international paperback edition, Lilienthal had to go to publishers and printers based in Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Even that failed to achieve a wide readership and, given the Zionists' capacity for suppressing the truth, as revealed by Lilienthal, I suspect that many copies were bought by them to be destroyed.
The fear of being labelled 'anti-Semite' is the main weapon used by Zionists to silence their critics, and many of the non-Jewish supporters of Israel are racists who want 'to send the Jews back where they belong'. I should therefore make it plain that, although not Jewish, I consider Judaism in many respects superior to Christianity. The greatest danger to the future of this venerable religion comes from Zionism, whose aim is the purely secular one of 'ingathering' a supposed 'homeless nation' on land seized from a defenceless people, who had always lived at peace with their Jewish neighbours. Everyone should learn to distinguish, with Lilienthal, between practising Jews, people with some Jewish ancestry (which probably includes most Palestinians), Israeli citizens (three million of whom are Arabic-speaking, and one million of them Muslims and Christians), Israeli governments and Zionists.

Extremely enlightening, More truths and a proper balance
This book, out of all books on the Middle-East conflict goes beyond the Orient and examines the Zionist Web that has Entangled the American beauracracy, Media, etc.. Lilienthal proves a very significant fact, and that is the Holocaust is being exploited for political purposes, being used as a justification for the existence of Israel. when its clear, as he points out, that Zionists did nothing to help their fellow Jews in the genocide. This and other significant issues are discussed in detail in this most comprehensive book. It is strongly recommended for evereyone with a keen interest in the Mid-East conflict and even in U.S. politics and the Israeli lobby group. I'am grateful for Mr Alfred Lilienthal, that as a Jew, he had the courage to expose the reality that has been hidden to Westerners away from them. Blinded by the Holocaust from seeing that a traditionaly persecuted people (ie the Jews) are capable of becoming the chief persecutors...

Magic and Beauty
In ancient Greece, dance was seen as a gift. Dance is simply a series of movements performed in patterns and set to music. Every human society has some form of dance. It is a way to pass on history, exercise and express yourself in a way words can't.

In this colorful guide, the magic and beauty of dance is shown in step-by-step sequences and full-color photographs. The costumes are spectacular and children can see the costumes, learn the stories of the great classical ballets and discover why Javanese dancers "flow like water."

Dances include:

Ballet
Tonga - poetry interpreted in dance in the Pacific Island of Tonga
Flamenco - Spanish
Ghost Dance - Native American
Morris Dance - England
Gharata Natya - Classic Indian Dance (if you enjoy this - watch Lagaan)
Orissi, Eastern India - originally performed by temple dancers
Georgian Ballet - the costumes are amazing!
Modern Ballet
Ballroom Dancing
and many more...

There is a section on footwear and they show how a ballet shoe is made. They explain the process of creating costumes all the way from the drawings to the finished product. Makeup and set design is briefly discussed.

A section on famous dancers and choreography shows what it takes. Finally, they discuss dance crazes through time.

A trip around the world in dance!

DK eyewitness books are some of the greatest non-fiction books around. The distinctive white background and high-quality photography gives this book an edge over any other nonfiction picture book. And -- these pictures are real! They're beautiful photos of all things related to dancing, accompanied by informative captions and text.

Learn about many different styles of dance, costumes and shows, performers, and many other dance-related topics (all augmented by beautiful museum-quality photos).

If you know someone (young or old) who is fascinated dancing, then you must introduce them to this book! It's a great lesson about dancing, and a beautiful book.

Eyewitness Dance
This book is excellent for the education of all types of dance. The pictures are colorful, the information is accurate, and it keeps the readers attention. It covers a variety of dances, and goes into detail about costumes and shoes. It is a good book for those interested in the art of dance, and dances from around the world.

Indispensable continuation
If you have bought Volume I of this fascinating history, (see Amazon's Website) you cannot do without Vol. II. This covers the early Cold War period. Its quality is of the same high level as the earlier book. As the author approaches modern times, however, some subjects turn out not to be declassified yet... A third volume is planned, watch out for it!

Obligatory Reading!
This book is written by a true professional: Price has been active in military electronics and is a superb writer too. Nevertheless the book does not require specialist knowledge from the reader. Excellent illustrations, impeccably correct data. A "must" for anyone interested in the subject.

The real story of EW in WWII, a must read for any EW person
I found this book in a used bookstore and was delighted with the detail, history, and photo record of the birth of EW. Mostly an US/Allied history with good amount of German and Japanes stuff. Anyone wanting to learn abought EW this is the place to start. The birth of it all.

The Spitfire Story

Refreshing break from watered down Spitfire books
Dr. Price gives an excellent account (and photos!) of the rare spitfires that you can't find in other books. Great reference for modelers and other enthusiasts. I particularly appreciated the many photos of the "Speed Spitfire" and many interim prototypes not typical to any mark number. (I am referring to the second edition -- the author added new material that had come out of the woodwork after the first edition.) The author is also kind enough to caption photos with the plane's code so that a modeler need not wonder what number is hiding behind a fuel truck, mechanic, parked plane, under a shadow or whatever. Money well spent.

The most detailed Spitfire Book in my collection!
This is by far the most detailed Spitfire book in my collection ( and I have quite a few! ). This excellent work gives a very comprehensive, mark by mark history of the Spitfire's development. Each chapter details the development of a given variant, including the background to that marks genesis, descriptions of combat, and overall impact upon the air war. Moreover, Alfred Price's eloquent text makes for a thoroughly enjoyable read and never makes his subject "dry". Greatest of importance, the appendices following the chapters give by far the MOST detailed performance information I've yet seen in any Spitfire tome ( or any other book on combat aircraft ). The data includes not just the common "top speed" and "rate of climb" information which is so often quoted, but also gives the top speeds and rates of climb at varying altitudes, as well as the critical "time to height" data up to the planes service ceiling. Detailed combat comparisons with various Axis & Allied types are also included! This is the sort of information which the dedicated aviation buff always desires to see in a book of this sort, but all too often we are dissapointed. This is the big exception! An absolute MUST have for any fan of the Spitfire in all it's many guises! The general and WW2 aviation buff should not miss out on this work either. Truely Outstanding!

Won't be beaten for a long time...
This is Dr Alfred Price's masterwork on the Battle of Britain. Now more than twenty years old, the book retains it's vitality and is as easy to read and understand as any book on the subject could possibly be. For the uninitiated, the Battle of Britain is the most pivotal air campaign in history. For approximately ten weeks in 1940, the fate of Britain depended entirely on the Royal Air Force. With her army almost destroyed at Dunkirque, her allies in Europe defeated, Britain stood alone. German raids on RAF airfields almost crippled her ability to defend herself but with the tactics used by Air Chief-Marshall Dowding and Air Vice-Marshall Park, as well as a primitive form of radar (a British invention), a handfull of incredibly brave pilots saved the island nation from invasion.

The book covers a single day; 18th August, 1940, in an easy-to-read narrative style with lucid observations by the people who were actually there. Civilians, Police officers, Telephone linesmen, RAF plotters and fighter pilots, as well as many of the combatants from the Luftwaffe, are quoted freely and eloquently without any apparent break in the pace of the book. The author's exhaustive research was indeed well timed as many of those people are no longer around to give their version of events and Dr Price gives us a good insight into just how this book came to be written in the first place. Unlike many similar books, this one does not get bogged down in detail, nor does it use overly-long quotes from the participants which could distract the reader. It seems to have been the first of it's kind in this regard and remains much-imitated but yet to be matched.

The mere fact that he was able to get so many people from both sides, including several who actually faced each other that day and who subsequently became friends, gives this book a human touch which will give it unique appeal even to those who may not be specifically interested in military history. This book is an absolute gem. If the subject is your thing then don't miss it.

Dramatic slice of wwII history
The entire book is devoted to telling the story of only one day during the battle of Britain. August the 18th is the date of the highest actual losses for both sides (not the highest claimed losses as was the case on september 15th). This book is so well written I can recommend it to anyone with even the most passing interest in WWII. Alfred Price, has a definite talent for distilling military operational detail into everyday language, and the historical detail is presented in a thoroughly engrossing way. I have read many books written almost exclusively from the historian's point of view and have enjoyed them very much, but for me there's no substitute for hearing from the participants in their own words. From top brass to civilians, from airfeild personnel to aircrews on both sides, this book creates, at times, a minute by minute experience of that day's events. My only complaint (and it's a small one) is the overall pacing. The first couple of chapters or so necesarily set the stage. The next chapters deal effectively with the attacks, but as the chapters progress, the action, and therefore the suspense, steadily dwindles. But while the book is hitting its stride it is just about impossible to put down! Highly recommended.

Instruments of darkness : the history of electronic warfare

Instruments of Darkness
This book is no longer in print, and it is quite hard to come by at any price. It is, however, a very fine book on the origins of directional beams and radar. It is also a book about patient investigation, deduction, and rather understated courage in unpressurized, draughty aircraft in the cold night skies over Europe. It leaves the reader with the image of the navigator, barely out of high school, cramped and shivvering in the dark in the deafening piston engine roar of a Lancaster, hunched over the green glow of a relatively primitive cathode ray tube, hour-by-hour, trying to guess the right way through the clutter and the static, being afraid of unseen dangers and praying for dear life to get back safely to England. If you happen to come across a copy by chance, this is a book that will repay your attention many times over. It is a shame that it is (a) so little known; and (b) out of print.
