"Total Breast Health" promotes total vitality.
Robin Keuneke's "Total Breast Health" is a model for all nutrition books. Combine its easy-to-read, well-referenced, and organized format with one of the nation's most important preventable diseases, breast cancer, and you have a deserved best seller. Keuneke's exploration into fascinating and controversial areas while bringing a clear light without judgmental tone is a hallmark of this book. Of particular interest to many will be the depth that Keuneke has written about dietary fat and its relationship with disease. While this is a complex subject, it is elucidated better through an interview format than any I have read before. As interesting as Keuneke's section is on dietary fat, she is able to cover many breast health subjects with as much acumen. Of great interest are the chapters, 'The Hidden Power of Plant Foods' and 'Herbs, Spices, and Mushrooms.' Simply said, if you want to promote not just breast health but total vitality, read Keuneke's book and follow her simple and delicious recipes. -- Paul Schulick, author of "Ginger: Common Spice and Wonder Drug"

Best book on the breast cancer preventive power of food.
TotalHealth Magazine food editor Robin Keuneke has produced with compassionate insight a well-researched book of encyclopedic proportions for women and anyone who wants to get well and enjoy good health. A self-described foodie, Ms. Keuneke offers a guide to foods that are rich in breast protective phytochemicals, as well as up-to-date research on how phytochemicals contribute to breast cancer prevention. Most of the pages are devoted to sample menus and recipes featuring an exciting and broad spectrum of vegetables, herbs, as well as protective oils with invaluable tips on the healthiest ways of preparing them. For example, flaxseed oil and olive oil are best used unheated, according to Ms. Keuneke's research. The 125 breast health recipes include ingredients of the highest quality and are based on international flavors and cuisines. To create breast health, life style is an important factor. In chapter 20, "Personal Care Guide", Ms. Keuneke provides important information on natural medicine, exercise, personal body care tips, aromatherapy and information designed to enhance ithe immune system. TOTAL BREAST HEALTH determinedly focuses on prevention and the chapter on the healing benefits of fresh oils is a masterpiece of well-researched information, refuting current thinking on low-fat diets. Replete with interviews, case studies, medical studies, extensive bibliography, resource guide and references, this is likely 1998's most important book on prevention and self-managed health care. Josephine Mahi Managing Editor TotalHealth Magazine April, 1998

Scientifically sound, totally accessible, and fascinating.
Robin Keuneke's comprehensive and scientifically based book, TOTAL BREAST HEALTH, is well organized and full of nutritional information for today's health-conscious women. The recipes included are flavorful and, based on scientific data, may very well help to prevent breast cancer. Robin has taken a difficult scientific topic, made it easy to understand and fascinating to read. I highly recommend this book for both women and men who want to take cahrge of their health.

Consumer Power: A Digital Revolution

I can't believe we never thought of this before!
Consumer Power is one of those "I can't believe we never thought of this before!" type books. It's an eye-opener for people like me that realized how much power we really have as consumers--and what could happen if we got together, but had no idea how to do so. Partnering is definitely the wave of the future. Even large companies are moving to this new business model. I've also read her second book, The Fifth Element: Taking Business into the Next Dimension. I am using these two books as a personal road map to financial freedom for myself. I HIGHLY recommend it to those who want to diversify, but don't have the time or capital to take traditional routes.

Great author/speaker - don't pass this up or the next one
Susan Frederick says it so well. Easy read, great stuff, don't miss this one and watch for more. She truly knows how to get her message across, with simple wording and strong reasoning. Great book.

cutting edge thinking
This is a great book highlighting the power that we all inherently have in the marketplace.

Thanks to Dr. Heitler
Dear Dr. Heitler: I live in New York. The purpose of this e-mail is to say thank you for all of your help during a difficult time in my life. I have spent the last two years trying to figure out what I am looking for and how to have a healthy relationship. I went through a long healing process and think I am ready to get back in to dating. I am going to re-read your book because I think it is the best book I have read in how to have a successful relationship. Thank you again for all of your help. Regards, Bruce

I married the next person I dated after I read this book!
I don't really think I got married BECAUSE of the book. But after I read the book, I finally could see that it was possible to be married, remain an individual, and still have a deep and meaningful relationship. If you think marriage takes away your independence, read this book--it empowers you.

Best book out there for improving your marriage.
Reading this book I finally can understand why my husband and I fight, and how to keep our marriage more peaceful. People shouldn't be allowed to get a marriage license until they read this book.

The Power in Your Money Personality: 8 Ways to Balance Your Urge to Splurge With Your Craving for Saving

The Power In Your Money Personality
Since I live Minnesota, I had the pleasure of hearing Susan speak at a conference. As I sat in the chair, I was taken aback at how she seemed to know my spending habits without knowing me. I bought the book and now all the corners are turned and words are underlined. I have an urge to splurge...period. The book looks at how we look at money and use it, or abuse it, in our every days lives. I recommend this for anyone who would like to take an honest look at where their paycheck goes each month. I'm back on Amazon today to order a copy for a friend of mine who is getting married. Solid information presented in a light-hearted way. No matter what your personality, you'll find yourself in the pages of this book. It's awesome.

She Does Know What's She's Talking About
For many, her humor will take the edge off of our "money hassles in relationships".Yet this book is not fluff. Susan has done her homework around our money behaviors. She understands the financial issues and she has tied them to our personalities. Any couple having a tough time dealing with each other when it comes to money should read this book.

My Money Personality
I just have to rave about Susan's book, The Power in Your Money Personality. I am a professional financial planner with a CPA and a law background. Not once in may career have I come across such a powerful message. Susan's book opened my eyes to many of the misconceptions that my clients and I myself hold with respect to money and personal finances. Her words and humor have disolved years of anxiety that I have been carrying around. Thank you, Susan!

SUSAN BORKIN'S BOOK IS A WINNER--MAKES YOU A WINNER!
The idea of healing appealed to me and so did journal writing. I've wanted to write but needed something to get me started. I needed a little more motivation, some ideas on how to begin and encouragment to keep going. Susan Borkin's book, When Your Heart Speaks Take Good Notes helped me begin writing, keep at it and create miracles in my life.

Borkin's conversational style encouraged me gently and her personal disclosure made me feel like I was listening to a wise friend.

Two examples of the effectiveness of the book are that I eased some of my grief at the loss of a loved one and made strides in letting go of food addictions. I'm convinced that Susan Borkin not only understands writing but can help us use journal writing to heal the pain in our lives.

Buy it for yourself if you want to write and heal. Buy it for friends because it's helpful and a pretty book as well.

Delightful to read!
With wit and a delightful sense of humor, Ms. Borkin takes you on a journey to a better "you" though stories, exercises and powerful information. She has a way of cutting deftly to the heart of your own human frailty and yet leaves you entirely in control of your journey to health and a more fulfilling life. Compelling and refreshing, she offers many ways to explore life and the problems we all face. Not necessarily with hard and fast didactic answers but with thoughtful exercises, gentle guidance and profound insight, she shows you the way to listen to your heart. She guides you gently yet firmly to seeing through your pain and finding your answers and trusting your inner guide. Try a few of the exercises and be amazed, as I was, how much you learn about yourself. Not only did I enjoy her book, I find myself going back and looking for those little nuggets of gold that spoke to me so personally. I know I'll go back to this book again and again.

Bravo
Susan Borkin has written a wonderful book on healing oneself through writing. The 70 exercises are clear and concise. I have shared this book with a number of women in my creative women's group as well as women I do a writing workshop with and they are as enthusiastic as I am. I am ordering 2 more copies today for a friend that wants to give them as gifts to her daughter and sister. I wish Susan Borkin lived on the East Coast so that both of my group's could have her as a guest lecturer.

It's up to us.
Susan Solovic's "The Girls' Guide to Power and Success" puts it right back in our laps. We have to make the changes in our expectations and behavior. She provides the motivation and the tools.

Little has changed in the last 50 years except that there are more women in titled positions. With these titles came no change in the lack of independence from male persuasion in decision making. We're still doing it their way.

Time for women to step up to the plate, read Solovic's book and march to our own drummers.

Great Read for Women Striving to Reach Their Personal Best
If you are a women interested in maximizing your career success and increasing your personal power and self esteem, this is the book for you! Susan Solovic does an amazing job of combining real world examples of women who have done just that - from overcoming obstacles and trials to making a name for themselves because of their tenacity and passion for power and success. Women of all ages, you too can enjoy this career success and this book is a great starting point! Enjoy it - I sure did!

Very Useful And Provocative Book
Susan Wilson Solovic has written a very useful and often provocative book for working women of all ages. Unlike some "career guides" that focus only on statistics and theory, Ms. Solovic interviewed successful women who have been "in the trenches" of the business world in addition to using great examples from her own varied and successful career. This approach not only makes the book a "good read" but it provides "nuts and bolts" practical advice on how women can be more effective in the business world today. This book was written from a unique point of view by a woman "who's done it all" and who now wants to make the road a bit smoother for other women in business.

Very Good But A Little Less So Than Book #1
With the 2nd book in Howatch's Anglican trilogy, we explore the story of the monk who was the therapist in book #1. He is also 60 years old, a psychic and a vision from God sends him back into the world and out of the monastery. There is a great deal of counselling and angst in this novel as well. There isn't enough different about this novel to make it the same fascinating read as book #1 though. I've already bought book #3 and I hope we follow a different pattern with that one. He does find a new woman as part of his vision from God as her bag and her estate were specifically seen in it. The Anglicans must spend more time in analysis than Freud himself ever dreamed possible!

the best of thr lot
The second in the series of Starbridge books - Glamorous Powers - is the one I liked the best. IN this book we get to know Jon Darrow, who figured in the first volume Glittering Images as Charles Ashworth's spiritual director, more intimately. Whereas in Glamorous powers, seen through Charles Ashworth's eyes, he was the perfect super priest who knew everything, here we actually get under Jon's skin and see him as he sees himself: as a flawed, confused man with many problems, in particular concerning his relationship with women. Jon had spent several years in a monastery as a monk, but now, in his sixties, he receives a calling from God to leave the monastery and fulfil a mission in the world - but he doesn't know what. Nor is he certain if that mission includes marriage.
For anyone with an interest in Gnosticism and mysticism, this is a particularly interesting book - but such an interest is definitely not a pre-condition for reading and enjoying it! I'm not the only Howatch reader to have this as their favourite in the series. (...)

The church from the inside out
Susan Howatch may be a woman with training in the law, but she gets inside the mindset of male priests in the Anglican Church (Episcopal Church in the U.S.) better than anyone else. This is a mystery, a suspense novel, a love story and a deeply psychological look at spiritual direction all rolled into one. The book begins with a man having a vision of a small country chantry (chapel). Outside the chapel is a unique suitcase. Is this god telling him to pack his bags and leave the monastary he has known for so many years? After intense spiritual direction, that I found riveting, he decides to leave. He goes on holiday, and while walking down the hall of the inn he is at, he see the suitcase of his vision! He has to meet the owner of the valise. She turns out to be a beautiful woman (much younger than himself). Will love ensue? What is god's will? This book will encourage you to consider the power of prayer and god's direction for your life. It will call you to wrestle with the possibility of healing and evil. This book began my love affair with each of the books in the "Starbridge" series. It could be the start of something special for you, too.

A kid's guide to ecconomics
Janie and her sister both want new bikes. But they need to pay for 1/2 (one half) of them. So, Janie, (who spends all her money on comics and chewing gum) forms KID POWER, an organazation made up of one and only one member--herself--that does odd jobs for $1 (one dollar) an hour. Includes lots of facts and terms relating to ecconomics and the money program of the United States. (Reccomended, but a little too unreal.)

Required School Reading
My daughter was given this book as a 4th grade reading requirement. She really enjoyed it and couldn't put it down. She asked about Gross and Net and it spun me around. I was pleased that she found it exciting. I hope it gets her in the mindset of saving and being more open in life with the same go-get-it personality as the main character. But even if not, my daughter is learning a lot and most of all, she's enjoying it.
This book is a must have for all young girls striving for more than average.

Econ 101
Kid Power is a wonderful book to use to teach the basics of economics to 3-5 graders. The story is very engaging and the way the economics vocabulary is woven throughout the story makes this a great tool for upper elementary teachers. The family interactions ring true and the friendship problems are great discussion springboards. Let's petition to reprint this book! Our schools need it!!

Great book for FBI overview.
"The FBI: A comprehensive reference guide" is a great book for information on FBI history and organization. I learned a lot about how the FBI carries out its mission by reading this book. This is a terrific reference.

Good book for background information
The FBI Comprehensive Reference Guide is a very good resource for background information on the FBI. I have never seen a better book on the history and workings of the agency. I would recommend it, along with "FBI Careers" (by Thomas Ackerman), to anyone who is seeking FBI employment.

FBI and 20th Century US History
This book covers the history and evolution of the FBI from 1908 to the present from an objective point of view. It has been well researched by these four scholars. The essays are well written and organized in ten chapters. Each chapter gives an in depth explanation of the origins of the FBI, its changes through the years, the relationship with other state and federal law enforcement agencies as well as its relationship with the President, Congress and the media. The reader not only learns about the history of the FBI, but also will learn about 20th century U.S. history. The chapters on Notable Cases and the FBI's influence on the American popular culture are very interesting. This book is very useful not only for the those who are interested in learn about the FBI but also for historians, sociologists, criminologists.
