A book for anyone seriously interested in herbal medicine!
This excellent book provides clear, complete, accurate and detailed information about many of the most useful herbs. Anyone interested in herbal medicine - layman or professional - would do well to read this book. It is essential to anyone who wishes to prescribe the covered herbs properly - be it to family and friends or as a health care professional. As well as covering the most useful herbs in detail, a separate section covers common conditions and what herbs and supplements to prescribe for them. This section is especially useful as it is not limited to the herbs covered in detail in the book.

From a Scientist's and Layman's perspective, an great read!
I am a Natural Products Chemist and Cancer Researcher. I wanted a book on Herbal Remedies to share with my friends and family containing a synopsis based on the facts without the media-babble. This is an excellent book. It is not an exhaustive work but contains many entry point references to the scientific literature whilst still presenting core material in a manner easily understood by most interested parties. This book helps bridge the gap between those interested consumers who want facts and not hype, and the scientific community. Dr. D.W., City of Hope National Medical Center. CA.

Best In Its Class
The Healing Power of Herbs is the most credible and useful herb book on the market, helpful for the consumer and the health professional alike. I especially appreciate the discussions of clinical trials, the medical journal references, and the easy-to-reference summaries of uses and dosages of herbs. This is *the* book I turn to when I have a question about herbal medicine. If you're only going to have one book on herbal medicine on your shelf, this is the one!

This book has worked for me!
A little over a year ago I found this book while searching for a tool that could help me understand and communicate in my new boss' style. Some doubts had already been expressed about the success of our team, putting my job in jeopardy. I read this book over a weekend. The application of these concepts brought immediate results, particularly because it allowed to communicate a full, long term strategic approach to what had been perceived as tactics. The results on our brand were exceptional and my boss recognized and compensated very well my efforts.

Highly Recommended!
How long has it been since you came across a book that you want to read twice? This book, with its eye-catching cover featuring the title as an embossed leather patch on the backside of a pair of blue jeans, is that kind of book. Authors Richard D. Czerniawski and Michael W. Maloney created this organized guide for marketing professionals and wrote it in a way that lets every reader learn. You are always told what you are about to learn, you're tested on that knowledge and then you are given real-life examples that reinforce the lesson. The authors debunk "established" methods, which they find condescending to marketing professionals. They believe that most marketers are tactically strong, but need to learn more about the strategic requirements of creating brand loyalty. We at getAbstract strongly recommend this book to senior managers, marketers, academics and - if you want to be savvy, too - consumers.

Perfect for Everyone in Brand Management
Czerniawski and Maloney developed a great strategic roadmap for brand positioning as well as creative agency management. Everyone in brand/product management should read this book. It provides a strong strategic structure to manage and develop your brands for long term success. I've given copies to everyone on my brand team.

Outstanding, Surprising, Enthralling, Wonderful, Mesmerizing
Without a doubt, this is the best book I've ever read on the subject of screenwriting, and perhaps it's the best I've read on the entire subject of writing fiction. It's the 13th book I've read on screenwriting. Before that, I devoured 8 or 10 on the craft of novel writing (and I won a national award for my first novel). If you want to hone your screenwriting skills, there's no better way than giving your attention to this extraordinary book.

Movies are the Dreams of Mankind!
We've all suspected it, but Walker reveals definitively how and why movies spring from and reflect our wildest dreams and aspirations, as well as our deepest fears and nightmares. It may seem obvious to many, but somehow with the insights and invaluable techniques he offers and explains in detail, he makes the film writer feel the weight of the world's problems squarely on their shoulders-- and that the ability to remedy them lies within the wordsmith's mind and craft, as well.

When I bought the book after a personal book signing appearance and lecture I thought was merely adding to my already extensive collection of screenwriting guides. I've noticed every time I hit a wall in my thought and development process I would buy another book. What I found with Power Screenwriting was much, much more. Here was the exact process of 'worrying' a story into completion before me. I didn't have to stop and turn to a thousand different manuals or discarded workbooks. I felt I could do my thing and then when I was stuck I could turn to this brilliantly laid out 12 stage approach and find the exact answer I was looking for. Plus,Power Screenwriting encourages and shows you how to write stories from a deep psychological and archetypal level, so that your stories have the greatest impact on the mind of the moviegoer possible. Walker places the onus of social evolution and conscious thought on the screenwriters, mythmakers and storytellers of today, and that writing for film is not just some casual extracurricular past time, but a noble 'calling' for the greatest creative engineers of each generation. I wholly concure and with this book believe I can really achieve so lofty a goal.

Writing quality screenplays quickly and efficiently
Professional screenwriter Michael Chase Walker (The Last Unicorn; Earthman's Burden; The Arrow and the Lamp; Seven Years in Tibet; Siddhartha; Sir Gawain and the Green Knight; Love and Anarchy; The Poet and the Tsar) draws upon his many years of experience and success to write Power Screenwriting: The 12 Stages Of Story Development, a structural, methodical, step-by-step, "how to" guide to . Breaking down the process in simple yet essential steps, screenwriting professor and author Michael Walker demonstrates his craft for aspiring screenwriters of all experience levels. A superbly practical, down-to-earth guide to basic screenwriting traditions, Power Screenwriting is not only recommended reading for aspiring or practicing screenwriters for television or film, but would be of profound interest to storytellers in any for of literary or artistic expression.

Jam-Packed!
Whether you're new in sales or a seasoned veteran, this book is a treasure. The publisher had to use smaller print just to fit it all in! It's amazing how much information is here-the traditional stuff that you find in most sales books, plus a lot more. And it's all focused on helping you make the sale; the title of Part VII is You Must Close the Sale in Order to Go to the Bank. The message can't be any more clear!

Let's start at the beginning. There are three sections at the start of the book that caught my attention right away. You know there's something special going on when you see sections titled "Why You Need This Book," "Why You Will Love This Book," and "Why an Intelligent, Sophisticated Person Like You Will Appreciate a Simple Book Like This." Simple book? In the fundamental principles that are presented, yes. In the depth and strength of the material, I wouldn't call this book simple. Sales professionals will spend extra time with each section to draw out all the value for themselves. It's just that kind of a book . . . the kind of tool that can be used for reference as well as straight-on learning.

Stewart starts his substance with Position Yourself for Success presented in six chapters. The last chapter of the section is focused on closing. Part II: Develop Rapport and Build Relationships of Trust and Confidence: four chapters ending with emphasis on closing more sales. Continue through sections on pre-call planning, prospect involvement, discovery, presentations, and handling objections. Want more? A good resource section and an index complement the powerful content.

If you want to close sales, not just make sales calls, make friends with this book. Renowned sales trainer Mike Stewart has stuffed all of his seminar material into 250 pages for you to absorb and apply for higher achievement.

Every salesperson needs this book
In one form or another, every one of us is selling--ideas, services, products, maybe a combination of those three. If you want to read a book that presents, in simple language, the contemporary approach to selling, then I recommend CLOSE MORE SALES. The author: Mike Stewart, an international speaker, professional sales trainer and consultant, based in Atlanta.

Far from being an armchair advisor, Mike Stewart spent many years learning salesmanship as a professional sales person. Additionally, he works with a variety of clients, training their sales professionals.

In the preface, he laments that "Almost never are effective selling skills being taught." With this book, he addresses that problem. The book has the approval of the American Management Association, his publisher. I recommend that you get a copy. . .and close more sales.

Close More Sales!: Persuasion Skills That Boost Your Sellin
The best books are the ones that get right to the point and show you step by step what works. This book delivers. I got so many insightful new ideas that I bought copies for everyone in my sales office. At our sales meetings we discussed a different chapter each week. I like Mike Stewart's candor, too. He tells it like it really is.

BRAIN AND CORE TECHNOLOGY
Among the increasing publications of books in Management, "Technoleverage" emerges as a help-full handbook for the year 2000. It provides guidelines for top managers willing to create change, understand where their company is, where to go, and how. In an original approach the author unveils methods and describes the processes in a realistic way. How to identify opportunities, produce brand-new ideas, differenciate and implement in a cost effective manner. How to deliver value to customers and stay ahead from competitors, how to measure your company's success.... With a clear vision, the autor shows the way to run business.

Genuinely the Best Business Book I've Read
TechnoLeverage was genuinely the best business book I've read, simply because it's practical and "real world". It provided me with new ways to look at new business development and has provided me with new personal and business challenges. I am going to buy twelve copies for my collegues.

Great for Mapping Out Corporate Strategy Using Technology
I found TechnoLeverage very insightful in its approach to corporate strategy for technology management. It was clear from the beginning of the book that a company did not have to be a high-tech or even a technology-based company to be able to put technoleverage to work to raise profits. In planning for the "big picture", I found that the book had many useful checklists and action items. It also had a very helpful chapter on financial measures and what can be learned from them. I would recommend this book to other managers in Marketing, Strategic Planning, Finance or Research and Development.

Flags on Iwo Jima
Flags of Our Fathers is a grand book by James Bradley. It is about the small island of Iwo Jima is in the pacific region. It is a Japanese controlled airstrip close to the country of Japan. The Americans wanted to take control of this very small island because it is a prime place to re-fuel and land aircraft on, the island before they go to attack Japan. This book is about six men and the rest of the Marines and Navy that all go to the island to take control of it.

Those six men fought on that island and they raised the flag on top of Mount Suribachi. They started the famous image taken by Mr. Rosenthal.

This in my view is the greatest book in world. It is a very touching and emotional book. It was sad and really spoke to me. It is hard to believe that these men were just doing their duty.
I recommend this splendid book to anybody that wants to read a very touching book about the heros of Iwo Jima.

Best book I have ever read
This book was the complete package! It gave a backround of each man on Iowa Gima that raised the flag. Then went into each mans way of getting to Mount Sirabachi. Then in the end of the book went into what each one did when they came back from the war. Couldn't put it down and have read it three times since I recieved it. You will not regret buying this book.

A MUST READ!!!!!
This is an awesome book. It had me glued from page one. If you don't read any other book this year, make sure that this is the one. I can only hope that a movie will follow for these amazing men and all of the other people that fought and died for our country. We owe them and this book is a fitting tribute to them. I only wish that this would have been written earlier. KUDO's to you.

A Must Have
This is the first book that I obtained regarding crystals and their properties. It is one that I would rate at the top of the chart for info. I find comfort in it's pages for the basic needs regarding this vast topic. It goes deep enough for the beginning practitioner. The awesome colour pictures are very beneficial for identifing stones received as gifts.

THE Definitive Work on Healing Minerals
Gienger brings together realistic science, folk-traditions, AND intuitive application wisdom in the definitive guide for beginners and long-time practioners of the ancient art of crystal healing. This book is essential for the many pages of full-color photographs alone! Any student or practioner of crystal healing must have this work in her or his library.

AT LAST - An Incredibly Wonderful Guide to Crystals!
After working with crystals and stones for nearly a decade and either owning or reading newly every crystal book around, I nearly fell out of my seat when I read this brilliant work. Finally, someone has come up with original information that is both pragmatic and accurate. It is not yet another warmed over text with the same information on the same topics, over and over and over again. This book explains the energies of the various scientific elements - something I have *never* seem before, as well as detailing the energies of the different crystalline structures and their chemical classifications. Aside from that, he provides wonderful information on the way each stone forms which can give us even deeper insights into the stones. I consider myself extremely knowledgable on the subject, but this work is a brilliant addition to the body of knowledge we have on stones. I give the greatest thanks to this author for such a powerful and useful contribution! May you always find the light within you so you may see the light around you.

The Power of a Praying Wife
The book "The Power of a Praying Wife" was excellent. It showed me specific areas to pray for my husband and myself. I took Stormie's challenge, however, my 30 days are not completed yet. I began reading and praying the second weekend in January and to date, I have not seen any miraculous changes in my relationship with my husband nor in our "dead" marriage. Nothing has changed, but I will continue to pray and hope that God will answer my prayers.

A Phenominal Book!!!!
God gifted me with a "Dream" husband, and so I struggle with feeling inadequate as a wife. Certainly I wasn't praying for him like I knew I should. Of course he has struggles and problems, but I was unsure how to pray for him. I have read many books on prayer and as many on marriage, but have never found a book that is challenging, encouraging, and PRACTICAL like this one is. I have seen it transform women and marriages. This is a book I will be giving to friends, both married and engaged, for years to come. PLEASE, if you don't read anything else, read this book.

Excellent for anyone desiring to be a good wife today.
This book changed my life as a christian desiring to build a happy and peaceful home as well as my perception of marriage and my roles and responsibilities as a christian wife. It thought me to understand the scriptural setting and expectations of a wife and it brought such tremendous inward transformation in my life first and I am beginning to reap the fruits of my prayers now in my marriage. It is a good guide and I have been recommending it to all my friends who are married. It does not matter how long you have been married, if you desire a happy home, this book is a must. Everyday, that I pray for my husband, I love him the more and nothing could be better. It helps go throught he diffiicult moments and helps me handle the usual marriage crisis. I just thank God for using Stormie and this age when marriages are so shaky to bring God's truth amd healing to the home.

Beneath The Flag
I was only 5 when the attack on Iwo Jima took place. My own father, by virtue of age, good luck and a naval officer's commission escaped conscription into this particular hell. My personal wartime experience is a vague one of watching free movie musicals at the Ottumwa Iowa Naval Air Station, squashing and saving tin cans for the war effort and finally weaving red white and blue crepe paper into the spokes of my junior bike in celebration of VJ day. Thanks to a new book about World War II, I am discovering what it was really like back then to feel true patriotism. It is a bittersweet revelation, but a very valid one.

"Flags of Our Fathers" is a book which appeals not only to the die-hard WWII buff but to any person, male or female, with an interest in a teeth clenching, powerful and poignant story. It describes a horrible battle, the incredible selfless sacrifices of young men and the angst of their families.

James Bradley & Ron Powers have brought to vivid life the real people behind the famous flag-raising mythos, the surreal war in which they so valiantly fought and the survivors' eventual reentry into civilian life. This is an adventure story of true horrific experiences. On the surface it is a "good guy-bad guy" saga in which our good guys finally triumph. The good guys lucky enough to come home are quiet, self effacing and seemingly forever linked to the ghosts of those who did not survive. In an age before psychologists had discovered and mined "survivor's guilt" and Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome, the luckiest of these largely teenaged boys trained, fought, were wounded, came back and resumed living to the best of their ability. I defy any woman not to bleed for the mothers and fathers who waited and any man not to cry for the "uncommon valor" of these very young sons. Bradley's personal experiences with his own hero father, his intimate interviews with families of these sons and his own quiet faith are melded with the poetic prose of Ron Powers into a seamless whole.

This is a meticulously researched, lovingly crafted and stunning battle book, written by exceptional men about exceptional men. It is sure to become a classic.

Ordinary people doing their duty in extraordinary times
This book is easily one of the best books I ever read. I especially recommend it to anyone who is interested in wars and the men who fight them. Bradley's personal and passionate account of arguably the toughest, bloodiest, and most highly decorated battle our nation ever fought is simply remarkable.

By the end of the book you will long remember and appreciate the sacrifice and significance of the U.S. Marines' WWII Battle of Iwo Jima and the lives and deaths of the six flag raisers (Harlon Block, John Bradley, Rene Gagnon, Ira Hayes, Franklin Sousley, and Mike Strank) forever immortalized in Associated Press photographer Joe Rosenthal's prize-winning photo atop Mount Suribachi on February 23, 1945, and in the world's largest bronze statue, the United States Marine Corps War Memorial.

Shortly after the tragic events of September 11, 2001, an e-mail I will never forget arrived at my work computer. Attached to the e-mail was an image, actually two images side-by-side. No words were needed. On one side was the Rosenthal Iwo Jima flag-raising picture, and next to it was the New York City firemen flag-raising at "Ground Zero" picture. Reading this book helped me to fully understand the old adage, "A picture is worth a thousand words."

Unforgettable Truth and Consequences of Iwo Jima
Seriously, five stars are just too few for a monumental book like this one. This book is an instant classic that should live for all time! If you are like me, you have a whole story built up in your mind around one of the most famous photographs in American history -- the raising of the flag on Iwo Jima. If you are also like me, there is little reality behind that story in your mind.

Written by the son of one flag-raising Marine, this amazing story should be read by everyone. It tells a tale of heroism, horrible circumstances, and the lasting consequences of an unexpected event in a compelling, unforgettable way. This book rivals All Quiet on the Western Front for its revealing insights into the nature of war, comradeship, and courage.

To set the stage, Iwo Jima was the first Japanese soil the Marines invaded. The Emperor had issued orders that the ground was to be defended to the last man. Iwo Jima was filled with tunnels that harbored over 20,000 Japanese troops who could shoot from relative safety while Americans were out in the open. The tunnel system was so extensive that Marines would literally be kidnapped while standing next to their buddies, and no one would know where they had gone. Rocks would suddenly open up to reveal mortars.

Tough fighting went on for days. The Marines lost 7,000 dead and had another 15,000 or more wounded out of 70,000 men. Ironically, the worst of the fighting came after the flag photograph, and three of the six Marines in the photograph died in this later action.

As tough as Iwo Jima was, living with the aftermath of the photograph was even harder in many ways. Two of the three survivors had their lives deeply affected in negative ways. The story of all three riveted me more than anything I have read in years.

I read fairly few books about war, but I cannot recommend this book enough to you. As Americans we owe it to those who fought in this battle to remember what actually happened and what the repercussions are. You will be moved at a deeper level than you can possibly imagine by this outstanding book.

Remember Iwo Jima!

OK, but...
Not a bad book, but the cover! Surely they could have given such a book a better cover than a bunch of trees.
Once you get over the disappointing cover, if you still feel mystical enough to read it, then there's some useful information on hermetics and golden dawn, spelled out quite simply. Good for beginners I would suggest.

Best book on magical reality
I have one complaint with this book, and that is John Michael Greer's approach to the explination of the rituals he highlights in his book. They combine discussion with the steps, which I found more confusing than perhaps spliting each ritual into steps and then discussion of the steps. But this is hardly more than a gripe when you look at the way Greer has opened up magic in a real way. He doesn't hold back, letting people know what magic is really about and encouraging those who are truly interested in magical studies to dive in for themselves. Also, when supplemented with Paths of Wisdom, his book on the magical cabala, the full complexities of the Golden Dawn system becomes very accessible.

A Great Book
One the best, reader-friendly books on Qabalah and Golden Dawn magic. I would recommend it to anyone.
