Bearded Dragon: Facts & Advice on Care and Breeding
This is a wonderful book for anyone who has recently acquired or are thinking of acquiring a bearded dragon. Whatever your questions are...this book has the answers. I recommend that this be the first book you purchase.

A great little book!
I happened across this gem in my local pet store the other week and have really taken a shine to it. The quality of the photographs is first class and the information is presented in a really easy to follow manner (as well as being very thorough). Although there are no earth-shattering revelations to be found between the covers, I heartily recommend this book to all Bearded Dragon owners- it's a definite 'keeper'!

Great for Students
This textbook is awesome for serious students who would really like to graspe latin better. It contains the answer key to all the exercises as well as tips for teachers on presenting the material. If you own the student edition, consider the teacher's guide to help you along your way!

A teacher's teacher!
As a Latin tutor with over three years experience with teaching this language, and several years of learning it, this text was a surprise. Not only did it offer me better ways to use the Cambridge readers with my pupils, it also provided me with new information that I found interesting for myself. This manual combines grammar with the easy learning tool of an ongoing storyline, as well as providing application skills and ideas, with some baitable history as well. It helps me not only teach my students better but keep them wanting to learn. Anyone looking forward to teaching, or even learning, this language, should most certainly have this book close at hand.

Have your heart set on a little iggy? Read this book first!
As I read through "The Iguana Handbook", I was sorely disappointed, but not because the book was bad. In fact, the book was so detailed and accurate that it made me reconsider getting a baby iggy until I could house it in its adult form. Too many people get an iguana without thinking about what the future holds, and what needs to be done for one. I am happy to announce that this book will help to impart some of the knowledge necessary to make an iguana a happy and thriving member of your family.

Richard D. and Patricia Pope Bartlett are the consummate author team when it comes to herpetology and they show it well as they painstakingly illustrate the life and needs of a properly-cared-for Green Iguana (and some of its confamiliars). With their assistance, it is no longer necessary for captive iggies to suffer from Metabolic Bone Disease and other such ailments inflicted upon them by poor diet. They also tell how to build a lovely cage, take care of an iggy out-of-doors, house one with other lacertilians, breed them and many other useful tidbits.

Great iguana care book
Finally, a good book with all true information. If you want an iguana book this is one of the few to get. Easy to read and is written by experienced iguana owners. I highly recommend it.

One of the Best field guides to Florida's Herps
This is a completely new reptile/amphibian field guide to Florida (its about time!) by one of our favorite author teams: R.D. Bartlett and Patricia P. Bartlett. This book covers all the amphibians, lizards, turtles, tortoises, crocodiles, and alligators. It complements Alan Tennant's authoritative Field Guide to Snakes of Florida (by the same publisher). Dick Bartlett's photography is superb! Highly recommended.

Any other hamster book is just a lie.
There is so much information in this book, it tells you everything that a hamster owner should know with out fluffing it up with jargon and trade terms. It is a book that everyone, from an aspiring veternarian to a child, would enjoy. It makes you an instant expert! The best part about it is that it doesn't assume the reader is a seven-year-old kid prone to smashing his or her new pet. It assumes that the reader has a thirst for knowledge (not to say that it is too much for a child to understand). Bartlett also includes some anecdotes and makes the book very fun and easy to get through. It sorts through all the information on the internet and in other books and boils it down to what a new hamster owner needs to know and what they want to know. It would be wise to save yourself the trouble and buy this book rather than look online for hamster information or bother with another book, I think that I can say very confidently that ANY OTHER HAMSTER BOOK IS A LIE!

pretty good- a bit outdated
There is a decent overview provided by this book, but some of the information (at least in the edition I read) that is definitely outdated. Green Iguanas are NOT insectivorous at any stage of their life. This has been proven by several reputable universities in the last few years. Buy this book in addition to other manuals.

This book accompanied my first iguana!
Living in Japan it's not always so easy to get the exact information I need but I was exceptionally lucky with this book. It covers all the aspects of iguana care and I like the way it especially reinforces the following points: 1. The size of enclosure your iguana will need (Dispencing with the usual glass tank I went out and bought a large glass fronted kitched cabinet straight away!). 2. The importance of the calcium/ phosphorous ratio in the diet. 3. The fact that, just like a cat or dog, to tame an iguana you need to pay attention to it everyday. The book doesn't mention, however, that too much cabbage or broccoli may cause thyroid problems and it doesn't contain tables showing the exact calcium/ phosporous tables of vegetables or fruit eg. eggplant 1.15/1, chinese cabbage 2.85/1, but, I can assure you that, once you have that information, in addition to this book, your iguana care library is complete. I've had my iguana for 8 months and he's doing just great!

Complete Guide
The author provided in-depth information on nearly all potential aspects of care for a green iguana. Breeding, desease, housing, diet and many others were thouroughly covered in a clear and concise manor that was easy to understand and apply.

My Room Awaits Me
COLORED WAITING ROOM by Patricia G. Pope is the story of the deep, dark descent of Alberta Graham. Alberta is a security officer at a Federal nuclear plant in rural Cherokee, Tennessee. Because of a promotion, she is transferred to this rural and racist area of Tennessee. Alberta has two strikes against her, one she is black and two she is female.

The story depicts the corruption, for monetary gain, by the employees at the nuclear plant, Alberta's discovery of it, the cover up that ensues and the racist attitudes of the employees. In addition to the corruption, Alberta's mental state into abyss is showcased. We read and watch as this woman attempts to fight the system within and lose her mind in the interim. Additionally, we are able to experience with Alberta a romantic encounter that she has against her better judgment. How does this encounter fit into the scheme of things at the nuclear plant? Who are these people, both black and white, that enter and disturb Alberta's world? Why is Alberta marked as a revolutionary and troublemaker within the 'good ole boy' network?

It is quite evident, as Pope states in the synopsis, that this book is for both the casual reader and the scholar. The colored waiting room, on the grounds of the nuclear plant, is symbolic and through Alberta's actions and her musings this room becomes her refuge. The use of several literary techniques is excellent providing for a thoughtful, sympathetic, yet disturbing read.

Scary & insightful!
More than literature, this is a thriller because, at the start, Alberta Graham is counting sticks of dynamite & feeding the flames of a hatred fed by eight years ago of petty, frightening, intangible racism.

Once, Alberta Graham had been a proud Texas woman dreaming of becoming the first female shift lieutenant at the Tennessee Valley Authority's Cherokee Nuclear Plant. She has survived eight spirit-breaking years of the "good ole boy" network.

Rebeccasreads recommends COLORED WAITING ROOM as a gripping, if a technically difficult read. It could have had some editing, however it will leave you drenched with the stench of racism & a dreadfully poignant rage.

Colored Waiting Room
This book...tore through my complete range of emotions...tears...anger..humiliation... fear...love..joy and an overwhelming sense of accopmlishments that Alberta Graham experienced. I identified so readily with her, it seemed as though the author were telling my life story .
I applaud Patricia Pope for putting pen to paper in the telling of struggle in an area that few have ever been able to put so aptly. Yet there are many who have and are struggling as Alberta Graham. Patricia Pope is an author who has dared to bare the souls of many facing these same on a daily basis.
This book has given me hope..that some things can be overcome with a strong sense of being.
This is a book that can be read over and over , with each reading bringing to light strength and a greater understanding of the world around us ....as Black Women. On the same, women of all races will feel the same oneness.
Again, I applaud Patricia Pope.

Don't use it as your ONLY book
I was expecting something a little more in depth. The Uromastyx section should really not be trusted. I reccomend joining a mailing list for your particular species.

Vey good
The vast majority of info in the book was 100% accurate. However, I disagree with several cage sizes he reccomends. His savvana cgae size is somewhat larger than most people use, and his statment that you could put 4 leopard geckos in a 10 gallon seemed a bit unreal. Most leo breeders say no more than 2 in a ten gallon. Otherwise, a prefect book

a must read for all saurion enthusiasts
lizard care from a to z is the most comprehensive and informative book on reptile care that i have read in a long time. a variety of species are covered in considerable depth. it also includes information on cage construction, and general rules of thumb for the care of most common (and many uncommon) species found in the pet industry. an absolute must-buy
