Unusual and gentle bedtime stories that your child will love
This book has been a favorite with my children because of the sweet love that it conveys, both between humans and animals. It is beyond me why the book is out of print, and I am desperate to get a new copy before the masking tape covers all of the book!

Chalk one up for the Chalk Doll !
I live in the Caribbean and am starting a Caribbean book collection for my kids. I really liked this book because it wasn't just another very colorfull book, it had a moral to the story. It is about a mother telling her little girl about the kind of doll she had when she was a child and how much she loved it because she made it with her own hands. It teaches a child the meaining of self gradification.

great teaching tool!
As a kindergarten teacher, I discovered this book to use in my math lesson for teaching the concept of "half". Every time I use this book, the children have a good understanding of what "half" is by the time the reading is finished. A great story with a cozy family and a great teaching tool!

Picky Chickies can just fix their own Snacky-snickies.
This is one of the funniest read-alouds I have encountered. Those catchy rhymes and the ridiculous looking, but really very sensible, hen are so absurdly comical that I can't even read this to myself without laughing aloud. I have read it to my 2 year old grandson so often I have it memorized. The surprise ending in which the chickies happily fix a snackie-snickie for themselves that they DO like is a wonderful lesson in self-reliance. (And Mom Henny is equally happy about it too! CLUCK!

a grandfather's love
Marisol and her grandfather really caught my daughter's attention. My daughter is only 3 years old but was enraptured by the story because she could relate to Marisol and her love for her Abuelito and how he cares for her to let her have the dog in the end. My daughter loves her own "Ah Kong" (grandfather in chinese)and I think this easy to follow story lets her see into another child's love for their grandfather and value his guidance and how a grandfather cannot stand to see their grandchildren unhappy.

my kid loved it
My son, who is 7, was sick last week and read most of this book to himself, chortling out loud sometimes. I like it because the language is lyrical, the Princess is strong, and the peasants win. It also gives my son some insight and historical context for his Vietnamese classmates.

A colorful, exciting book for preschoolers!
We checked this book out of the library for son, who will soon be three years old, and it is now one of his all-time favorite books. I just dropped into Amazon.com to order him a copy of the book for his very own.
There are almost no words in the book, just enough to help you figure out what's going on. You and your child provide your own story as you turn the pages. My son can tell the whole story himself now and gets very excited as we get closer and closer to the page where the bear appears. He really thinks he's "reading" and asks for this book again and again.

One of the best books our family of book-lovers ever shared!
Rarely does a parent find a book so fun to read, and fun to
hear! Our first copy came by way of a book club. We read it
so often, the cover fell off from over-use. Still, we held
on to it and treasured it. It's been years since our first
copy wore out. No problem! We've practically memorized it!
This lyrical verse about a piggy who induces her whole family
to join her in the puddle is both endearing and laughable.
Our oldest daughter is now twelve. She suggested we buy a
new copy for her brother (7) and sister (6). This time we're
going to get a hard-backed copy!
You'll read this over and over again... too cute to pass up
The Piggy in the Puddle by Charlotte Pomerantz is my favorite children's book. My seven year old daughter will love finally receiving her own copy. We keep checking it out at the library and we read it over and over again and laugh at the funny situation: Little Piggy doesn't want to get out of the puddle no matter how much Daddy and Mommy and Brother Pig want her to. We laugh at the cute rhyming words to describe the mud and have the book memorized from years of reading it. James Marshall, the illustrator, captures the funny story with perfectly plump pink pigs and the muddy little puddle. I highly recommend this book, especially if you like pigs and tongue twisters and lots of giggles with your kids or grandkids. You'll love it.
Piggy in the Puddle is hilarious and addictive!
I started reading Piggy in the Puddle when my children were little and my oldest is now an adult. Our copy mysteriously disapeared when it was taken to school for a 9th grader's project. Everyone in our family still recites it from memory 7 years later. One our daughter is now studying to be an elementary teacher and wants a copy of the book for student teaching. I am sure that this book was an important part of the reason that all of our children love to read to this day. It is an essential for the library of every family of young children.

best truck book ever
By far, my 3 year old son's favorite book of all time! He memorized all the words and spouts them off spontaneously. Any boy will love this book, especially if they love trucks!!! I bought this book for all of my friend's boys and gave them as birthday gifts! Everyone loved it!!!
How Many Trucks Can A Tow Truck Tow
This has to be the ultimate book for little boys who love trucks. We got to the point that the boys would "sing" along and I could just close my eyes, because we all knew the words!!
an instant favorite
fun to read and not as boring as those tonka books!my son is 3
